What is important in a person. What is the most important thing in a person? What is the most important thing in a person's life

The word "man" has different meanings. This is both a representative of the genus "reasonable man", and a living organism with an individual set of physiological and psychological characteristics, and a person, that is, the bearer of his own unique and inimitable inner world.

In search of an answer to the question of what is important in a person, you can study many opinions, but you will not find the only correct answer, because it does not exist. Looking at a person through the prism of the concept of "morality", one can determine what important qualities of a person are valued in society.

Morality is a system of requirements, rules and norms of human behavior, the observance of which is welcomed by society. A highly moral person is a full member of society, and his behavior is perceived positively.

Inhabitants of planet Earth

However, society itself is heterogeneous and has a complex structure. So, for example, there is a macrosociety, or, as it is also called, a global society. This concept covers the entire population of our planet. The main moral qualities in this society are kindness, peacefulness, concern for the environment, thrift, honesty, charity, and so on. Naturally, these qualities are important for all people, so the more they manifest themselves in each person, the calmer and safer life in the whole world will be.

nations

This global society is made up of smaller cells, which are called "nations". Representatives of each nation differ in their culture, traditions, clothing, lifestyle and mentality, characteristic of their people. In view of such essential national differences, the moral values of nations are different. For example, some believe that war is a useless exercise, a waste of priceless human lives and adhere to an exclusively defensive doctrine, while others see the meaning of life in constant hostilities in order to seize territory and enrich themselves at someone else's expense. Naturally, for representatives of the first category of nations, peacefulness, kindness, mutual assistance and so on will be considered the main moral values, for representatives of the second - strength, aggression, composure, readiness for battle.

Slavs

Considering the Slavic mentality, we can say that it has always been distinguished by its tolerance, peacefulness, openness, but at the same time, rebelliousness and unwillingness to depend on other nations. As a result of this, over the centuries, the corresponding moral qualities have developed, which are relevant to this day.

Important qualities of modern man

In the modern society around us, the question of what is most important in a person is likely to have the following answers.

  1. Politeness and sociability. These qualities allow you to lead an active lifestyle, find your place in any team, easily establish contacts with strangers and cooperate productively with them.
  2. Kindness. This is the quality of strong and self-confident people who are able to provide assistance to those who need it, even if it infringes on their own interests.
  3. Honesty. A quality that allows you to rely on a person and be confident in him. It is honesty that is one of the most important in society and is highly valued.
  4. Modesty. Modest people are always respected because they do not show off their virtues. This is the property of strong people.
  5. Courage. Courageous people are not afraid of changes in their lives, so they are constantly open to best practices, actively accepting all the novelties and innovations of modern life. This is especially true for business people, from whom the modern environment requires constant movement forward, learning and mastering new advanced technologies, on which the success of the business largely depends. The development of this quality is closely related to the ability to set for oneself the vital goals of a person.
  6. Loyalty to your work. Today, when there is a huge number of various types of work activity, it is especially important for a successful person to develop and become a professional in his field, not to change his mind until the goal is achieved.
  7. And finally, the most important quality of a person is humanity. After all, now, more than ever, it is important to remain human in any situation.

In my opinion, the most important thing in a person is not kindness, soul or health, although this plays an important role in the life of this individual, but the most important thing is honor, because it combines such concepts as loyalty, justice, truthfulness, nobility and dignity.

Ever since the ancient

At times, the minds of thinkers were occupied with questions not only on the topic “who is a person”, but also “what is most important in him”. Some believed that morality was the most important thing, others - that conscience, there were those who argued that there was no main thing, everything was complementary.

Personally, I adhere to the point of view that each person chooses for himself what is most important to him. For example, for some it is more important to be the best in the eyes of friends: the best car, the best haircut, the best house or the best suit; for others - not to violate religious commandments; for the third - to become a luminary of science, etc.

First things first

Not honor, but a sign of honor, which is not the same thing. For example, some people think that if you gave birth to a child, then you became a parent - this is not true, because this still needs to be studied and studied. I once had a chance to watch a picture when a young girl was walking through the park, a stroller in one hand, and a bottle of beer in the other. A most unpleasant picture, I must tell you. But no matter what I or anyone else says, people will still be drawn to them, because it's fashionable and cool.

People of the second type are priests and believers. Well, I don’t believe, looking at the priest’s face and belly, glossy with fat, that he sacredly observes the fast. From the very time that Russia was baptized, the church became a branch of power. And, besides, the belief that an old man lives high above us, who has a certain list of ten rules, for violation of which he will send a person to a fiery hyena - is absurd!

People of the third type, in my humble opinion, are the most honest of the above, because they produce new knowledge about the world, put forward various theories about the universe and construct complex high-precision equipment not for their own use, but for the public good.

But the minds of not only thinkers were concerned about this issue, but also many different strata of society. For example, the playwright William Shakespeare wrote in Richard II: “Is there a treasure in the world more valuable than a spotless honor? I need a good glory more than life: having given it away, I will lose the right to life. However, in my opinion, there was not a literal translation here, and the author meant something else, because honor and glory are not the same thing, or, in the words of Johann Gottfried Seime, “Honor is rarely where glory is, and even more rarely glory is where there is honor. William Shakespeare probably argued that honor is the highest privilege that a person can have, and after losing it, a person loses the right to exist, since he ceases to be a person. And what did Johann Seime think? Most likely, he considered the concept of "honor" as "honesty", and glory as "fame". But this is my personal opinion on his words.

Above, I argued that honor combines such concepts as loyalty, justice, truthfulness, nobility and dignity. I will dwell on this in more detail, trying to explain the role of each psychological regulator in such a complex system.

What does loyalty mean in honor? In my opinion, this means making a decision, persuading and maintaining it even when it is sometimes devoid of common sense. For example, we can take the most common relationships of young people. Love, which implies fidelity. And even if she cheated on him, and even when the guy found out about it, he is still faithful to her, because he decided so, it is so important for him not to back down from his decisions, his words, although he is unbearably hurt by this thought. But, again, all people are different, and such a belief is only characteristic of a minority, seeming to other people as nonsense, devoid of meaning.

And what is justice? Justice is objectivity. This does not mean at all that "you are my friend, therefore you are right, but I see him for the first time, therefore he is wrong." No, this is precisely the objective approach to truth. Everyone should be rewarded according to what they deserve: sinners will be rewarded for sins, the righteous - for righteous deeds; then and only then will happiness come, although the guitar god Jimi Hendrix thought differently, arguing that “when the power of love surpasses the love of power, then there will be peace on earth.”

But what then is truthfulness? In my opinion, this is a state when it is unpleasant for a person to tell a lie, so he speaks, or at least tries to tell, only the truth. But this does not mean at all that a person cannot be told a lie - it is simply unpleasant. For example, when I do not want to tell the truth, I laugh it off, but I do it in such a way that it is clear to everyone that this is a joke. And the truth will actually be the opposite of a joke.

Nobility? If we disassemble this word by composition, we get a “good kind”, that is, the sublimity of the motives of human behavior, their relationship to the Good, where the motives are not selfishness, but altruism, the desire to help one’s neighbor, and not for the sake of profit, but for the sake of happiness.

Dignity is the respect or self-respect of the human person. It is inalienable and intransferable, and even the dignity of the individual is protected by criminal law. Yes, dignity is given to a person from birth, and it cannot be taken away. But a person with just one small act can drop it so much that he will not be able to restore it for the rest of his life.

Thus, honor, in my opinion, is the most important psychological regulator of such a complex biosocial being as a person, and people do not even realize its exceptional significance, inventing something else that they consider important, skipping truly priceless things by themselves. And, inventing, they violate one of the ten commandments: “do not make yourself an idol”, and although I consider religion absurd, I admit that it is not without common sense.

There are many different traits that a person must have. It is quite difficult to single out the most important of them. For example, appearance. With a nice person, a large number of people try to communicate and be friends. But if a person has a beautiful appearance, but a bad character, this is not for long. Gradually, its essence is revealed to others. Not so many people want to communicate with a bad person anymore. So appearance is not always important. Good character is important to us in people. It is important to be able to speak well. A good character in my concept is when a person tells the truth, does not be mean, does not lie, is not afraid to help, stand up for the weak. If there is such a person next to me, I am not afraid. And I don't care how beautiful this person's appearance is. The main thing is that I have confidence in him. No matter what situation we may find ourselves in, such a person will not leave us in trouble. After all, you can be surrounded by very beautiful people with a cowardly character who will leave you in trouble at the first opportunity. And you can be in the company of not very beautiful people who will stand up for you when they attack you.

Therefore, I believe that the most important thing in a person is his character. The appearance of a person fades into the background.
