Frank is the world of victory. Former UFC champion Frank Mir about Russia and the fight with Fedor Emelianenko. “After the accident it was very difficult”

Frank Mir was born into a family that is directly related to mixed martial arts. He studied the basics of martial arts at the Kempo School in Las Vegas, owned by his father. When Frank watched the first issue of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he was not yet sure about the need to study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: "I was fourteen when I first watched the UFC with my father, where all the fighters were knocked down and strangled by this skinny Royce Gracie. I "I couldn't believe my eyes! My father wanted me to start jiu-jitsu immediately, but I tried to prove to him that what I had learned was enough. I thought I would find a way to counter this instead of just agreeing and starting training."

His father persuaded him to start wrestling in order to learn not to fall for submissions, while Frank attended Bonanza High School in his native Las Vegas, where he earned a 44-1 record. He started competing in his penultimate year and lost his first nine bouts, but won the state senior championship in 1998. He also competed on the high school football team and in track and field competitions, where he set a still unbroken competition record: he threw a discus of 54 meters and 20 centimeters. In 2004, after defeating Tim Sylvia, after five years of training, Frank received a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu from the hands of Ricardo Pires.

Before entering the UFC, Mir worked as a bouncer in one of the clubs in Las Vegas and now holds the position of director of security in parallel with performances in the octagon. In addition to direct participation in the fights, Frank commented until 2010 (another UFC fighter, Stefan Bonnar, came to replace him) WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting), which is a subsidiary of the UFC.

Career in mixed martial arts

Joe Silva, a UFC entrepreneur, noticed the talented guy when he visited Mir's school. Frank was asked to show himself against the background of some mixed martial arts fighters. Mir made his debut at the HOOKnSHOOT: Showdown tournament on July 14, 2001 against Jeromy Smith. Frank won by decision after two rounds. He also won his next fight at IFC Warriors Challenge 15 against Dan Quinn. Following these victories, Frank made his UFC debut against Roberto Traven. It took the world only a minute to perform the painful hold, which was named the best painful hold of the evening.

At UFC 36: Worlds Collide, veteran Pete Williams lost by submission for the first time in a 46-second fight against The World.

Frank's next fight took place about five months later. The next opponent was the Briton Ian Freeman, who had a 12-5 record at the time of the fight. Mir could not make a painful hold in the stalls and ended up in a position from below, where for about two minutes he constantly missed blows to the head. Referee John McCarthy ordered the fighters to get up, but Mir was no longer able to continue the fight.

Rehabilitation took place six months later, at UFC 41: Onslaught. The fight against Tank Abbott lasted exactly the same as against Pete Williams - 46 seconds and ended with a painful hold, only this time on the leg.

This was followed by two fights against Wes Sims at once, the difference between which was about six months. The first fight lasted two minutes and fifty-five seconds, after which Wes Sims was disqualified for kicking a prone opponent in the head (this technique is prohibited by the rules of the Ultimate Fighting Championship). World also won the second fight, only by knockout after two exhausting rounds.

Frank's convincing performances led him to fight for the championship belt against Tim Sylvia. The fight took place on June 19, 2004 at UFC 48: Payback. At the fiftieth second of the fight, referee Herb Dean stopped the fight while Mir was performing a painful hold on his arm. As it turned out, the referee noticed how Sylvia's hand simply "broke", although Tim himself was ready to continue the fight and tried to protest Dean's decision. Mir agreed to continue the duel. After inspecting Sylvia's hand, the final decision was made to stop the fight and award the victory to Frank Mir. Already in the hospital, the doctors found that Sylvia's arm was broken in four places at once. After this fight, Frank Mir received a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

motorcycle accident

On September 17, 2004, Frank Mir on a motorcycle collided with a car. Mir received a fracture of the femur, a rupture of all knee ligaments. The bone was broken in two places, but this did not put an end to the fighter's career. The main operation was designed to restore the leg bone. While Mir was recovering, an interim championship belt was established, which was won by Andrey Arlovsky in a fight against Tim Sylvia. On August 12, 2005, it became known that Mir would not be able to enter the scheduled fight against Andrei Arlovskiy, thanks to which the Belarusian became the absolute champion, and Frank lost any rights to the belt.

Return to UFC

Mir has healed a knee injury and returned to the octagon again at UFC 57: Liddell vs. Couture 3 February 4, 2006. The first opponent after such a long break was Marcio Cruz, who had a 1-0 record at the time of the fight. At the third minute of the fight, the referee stopped the fight to find out the severity of the cut on Mir's face. After inspection, Frank was asked to continue the fight, to which he agreed. But already at 5 minutes, the referee stopped the fight again, but already to award Cruz a victory by technical knockout

Mir's next appearance in the UFC was on July 8, 2006 at UFC 61: Bitter Rivals against Dan Christison. Since the last performance, Mir has gained weight and exhausted quite quickly during the fight. A disappointing, lackluster unanimous decision win brought a cloud of criticism over Frank's head. The main subject of complaints against Mir was his form: he completely ceased to be the fighter he was before the injury, having lost his speed and technique.

The fight against Brandon Vera took place at UFC 65: Bad Intentions. The world had absolutely nothing to offer the opponent, which is why he lost by technical knockout in the first round. Criticism against Frank became more and more harsh, his fans said that now Mir is a completely different fighter than he was before the accident, and that he will never return to the previous level. It seemed that the once so bright career of a talented fighter was fading away, or even could completely come to naught so ingloriously. At a press conference, Mir commented on his streak of unsuccessful performances: "I lost to a guy who shouldn't be a heavyweight at all."

rebirth

Mir-Hardonk, scheduled for UFC Fight Night 9, did not take place due to Frank's shoulder injury and was rescheduled for UFC 74. Mir won by submission in the first round. After the fight, the winner walked up to the camera and declared, "I'm back!"

On February 2, 2008 at UFC 81, the main event of the evening was a duel between Frank Mir and UFC debutant Brock Lesnar. Already at the thirtieth second, Steve Mazzagati stopped the fight and took a point from Lesnar for an illegal reception - a blow to the back of the head. After a short pause, the fight continued. Lesnar took the fight to the ground, where all the time he tried to “crush” Mir with his power, but missed the moment when Mir prepared a very sophisticated submission on the leg. Already in the first minute and thirtieth second, Lesnar was forced to surrender.

Interim championship belt

UFC 92 hosted the Mir-Nogueira fight, which was part of a heavyweight mini-tournament founded by Dana White. The winner had to face the winner in a pair of Lesnar - Couture. Lesnar defeated Couture by technical knockout, which allowed him to compete in the fight scheduled for UFC 98 for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion.

The fight between Mir and Nogueira also ended with a technical knockout in the second round. Prior to this, Nogueira had been knocked down twice in the first round and once more in the second. It is worth noting that the Brazilian was defeated by knockout for the first time in his long career. After the fight, Mir uttered a phrase addressed to Lesnar: “Brock, you have my belt!”

2 days after the fight, Dan White said at a press conference that Nogueira had been ill with a staph infection before the fight. Nogueira himself confirmed this fact a few months later during a personal interview. Antonio spent about five days in the hospital twenty days before the fight, which, according to him, probably affected his form. On top of that, Nogueira had knee surgery in February. Despite this, the Brazilian praised Mir's performance, noting his ability to keep his distance.

Fight for the title of absolute champion

After defeating Nogueira, Mir received the right to fight Brock Lesnar at UFC 98, although Frank himself believed that his victory over the Minotaur was enough to recognize him as the undisputed champion. The scheduled fight did not take place due to Mir's knee injury requiring surgery and was rescheduled for UFC 100.

At UFC 100, Mir lost to Lesnar via TKO in the first minute and forty-eighth second of the second round.

At UFC 107, the World-Congo fight took place, where Frank knocked down the Frenchman at 41 seconds, and ended the fight with a choke hold thirty seconds later.

Mir caused a lot of controversy when he said he wanted to break Brock Lesnar's neck, thereby making him the first fighter in MMA history to die in the octagon. Mir later apologized for his comments.

At UFC 111, Mir faced Shane Carwin for the interim title of the organization. Already in the first round, Carvin sent the World to a technical knockout.

At UFC 119, Mir faced Mirko Cro Cop. Frank tried to put more pressure, and in most cases he succeeded. Cro Cop made attempts to counterattack. But the tactics chosen by both fighters did not bring any definite results until the end of the fight. At the end of the third round, Frank Mir surprisingly accurately punched Mirko with a powerful knee to the head, which, unnoticed by the Croat, passed between his hands. As Mirko fell, Frank Mir landed two more punches before the referee stopped the fight. The first blow fell casually, and the second hit Cro Cop exactly in the jaw.

Frank Mir (Frank Mir; real name Francisco Mir III (May 24, 1979) - American MMA fighter. Currently performing in the UFC heavyweight division. He is the former UFC heavyweight champion and former interim UFC champion. At the moment, Mir holds the record Considered one of the best grapplers in UFC heavyweight history along with “Minotauro” Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum, Mir is the only man to have both knocked out and submitted Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Frank from childhood knew what martial arts were, because his father headed the martial arts school in Las Vegas. Mir's father was a wrestler and played a big role in his son's subsequent career.

Before entering the UFC, Frank worked as a bouncer in a nightclub, where he was noticed by UFC matchmaker Joe Silva.

The debut of Frank Mir in the UFC took place in 2001, his opponent was Roberto Traven, who was a four-time world champion in jiu-jitsu. But, despite all the experience of the opponent, Frank in the first minute of the fight was able to hold a painful hold, which was called the best of the evening. This was followed by another victory over the previously undefeated Pete Williams, Mir won the fight via submission again in the first round.

Frank Mir received his first defeat in the UFC in a duel against British fighter Ian Freeman. This was followed by 3 victories in a row, and access to the championship fight with Tim Sylvia.

The audience did not have time to enjoy the spectacle, since not even a minute had passed since the start of the fight, as the fight was stopped by the referee. As it turned out, Sylvia had a broken arm, as it turned out later, in four places. Although Tim was ready to continue to fight, the fight was still stopped and the victory was awarded to Frank Mir. That evening he became the champion and black belt in jiu-jitsu.

Due to the accident that occurred in September 2004, where Frank's motorcycle collided with a car, he could not continue fighting. While the American champion was being treated, the promotion management created a temporary championship belt, which was won by Andrey Arlovskiy. In 2005, Mir was never able to enter the ring against Orlovsky, so he lost all rights to the championship belt, and Pitbull became its absolute owner.

A year later, Frank returns to the ring, but not at all the bright fighter he was before the accident. He has several fights, which are mostly lost, which leads to disappointment from fans and harsh criticism from them.

Already in 2007, Frank Mir, fortunately, his fans, brings himself into the appropriate shape and returns to the ring with the "former" Frank. He has a string of bouts including a win over Brock Lesnar leading him to the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship. Mir fought Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and won by technical knockout.

At UFC 100, the UFC heavyweight title fight between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar took place, and in this rematch Mir lost by technical knockout.

This was followed by a victory over Cheick Kongo, and a knockout loss to Shane Carwin in the fight for the interim UFC heavyweight championship. After that, Mir won 3 fights in a row, finishing Mirko Cro Cop and Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira ahead of schedule, and defeating Roy Nelson by decision of the judges.

Mir went to the title against Junior dos Santos, and was defeated by knockout. After that, the ex-champion lost 3 more fights in a row - to Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett and Alistair Overeem.

After losing to Overeem, Mir returned to the cage a year later and fought Antonio Silva, knocking out the Brazilian and earning a Performance of the Night bonus. In the next fight, Mir again received a bonus for a knockout victory over Todd Duffy.

In September last year, Mir faced Andrey Arlovsky in a cage and lost by decision. Mir had his last fight so far in March, against Mark Hunt and lost by technical knockout. After the fight, Mir failed a doping test, although the athlete denies taking illegal substances.

Now Mir is working as a commentator for the growing Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB) promotion.

He currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the heavyweight division. Former UFC World Heavyweight Champion and former UFC Interim Champion. Frank currently holds the record for most wins and most submissions in the heavyweight division. The world from 2004 to the present day is in the top 10 best heavyweight fighters. Considered one of the top three heavyweight grapplers along with Minotaur Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum.

Reviews

Frank World is horsepower and extraordinary technique in one body.

Joe Silva, UFC Entrepreneur

I ended my career because I could no longer train properly. I don't want to call it the Frank Mir style, but it was the Frank Mir style. It's as if I was going to work off what hurts the least today: “What are we doing today? Well, what's not broken today? That's what we're going to do today." This is how Frank Mir trains.

Forrest Griffin, former UFC champion

I respect Frank on another level, first of all I respect him for his achievements in sports, but most importantly, I respect him for overcoming difficulties in life. Not many people can come back from such an accident and become a champion again.

Daniel Cormier

Frank once said to me: “How far have I come without really training.” This is the most amazing thing about Frank Mir.

Jon Jones, former UFC light heavyweight champion.

Frank Mir is my favorite fighter, I have always liked his personality. I've seen him fight five or six times and I've always liked the way he carries himself.

Charles Barkley, famous basketball player

Frank Mir would have been the greatest fighter of all time had he not been in that accident.

An excerpt characterizing the World, Frank

- Could you get a book? - he said.
- Which book?
– Gospel! I do not have.
The doctor promised to get it and began to question the prince about how he felt. Prince Andrei reluctantly but reasonably answered all the doctor's questions and then said that he should have put a roller on him, otherwise it would be awkward and very painful. The doctor and the valet raised the overcoat with which he was covered, and, wincing at the heavy smell of rotten meat spreading from the wound, began to examine this terrible place. The doctor was very dissatisfied with something, altered something differently, turned the wounded man over so that he again groaned and, from pain during the turning, again lost consciousness and began to rave. He kept talking about getting this book as soon as possible and putting it there.
- And what does it cost you! he said. “I don’t have it, please take it out, put it in for a minute,” he said in a pitiful voice.
The doctor went out into the hallway to wash his hands.
“Ah, shameless, really,” said the doctor to the valet, who was pouring water on his hands. I just didn't watch it for a minute. After all, you put it right on the wound. It's such a pain that I wonder how he endures.
“We seem to have planted, Lord Jesus Christ,” said the valet.
For the first time, Prince Andrei realized where he was and what had happened to him, and remembered that he had been wounded and that at the moment when the carriage stopped in Mytishchi, he asked to go to the hut. Confused again from pain, he came to his senses another time in the hut, when he was drinking tea, and here again, repeating in his recollection everything that had happened to him, he most vividly imagined that moment at the dressing station when, at the sight of the suffering of a man he did not love , these new thoughts that promised him happiness came to him. And these thoughts, although vague and indefinite, now again took possession of his soul. He remembered that he now had a new happiness and that this happiness had something in common with the Gospel. That's why he asked for the gospel. But the bad position that had been given to his wound, the new turning over, again confused his thoughts, and for the third time he woke up to life in the perfect stillness of the night. Everyone was sleeping around him. The cricket was shouting across the entryway, someone was shouting and singing in the street, cockroaches rustled on the table and icons, in autumn a thick fly beat on his headboard and near a tallow candle that was burning with a large mushroom and stood beside him.
His soul was not in a normal state. A healthy person usually thinks, feels and remembers at the same time about an innumerable number of objects, but he has the power and strength, having chosen one series of thoughts or phenomena, to stop all his attention on this series of phenomena. A healthy person, in a moment of deepest reflection, breaks away to say a courteous word to the person who has entered, and again returns to his thoughts. The soul of Prince Andrei was not in a normal state in this regard. All the forces of his soul were more active, clearer than ever, but they acted outside of his will. The most diverse thoughts and ideas simultaneously owned him. Sometimes his thought suddenly began to work, and with such force, clarity and depth, with which it had never been able to act in a healthy state; but suddenly, in the middle of her work, she broke off, was replaced by some unexpected performance, and there was no strength to return to her.
“Yes, a new happiness has opened up to me, inalienable from a person,” he thought, lying in a half-dark quiet hut and looking ahead with feverishly open, stopped eyes. Happiness that is outside the material forces, outside the material external influences on a person, the happiness of one soul, the happiness of love! Any person can understand it, but only God alone can recognize and prescribe its motif. But how did God ordain this law? Why a son? .. And suddenly the train of these thoughts was interrupted, and Prince Andrei heard (not knowing whether he was delirious or really hears this), heard some kind of quiet, whispering voice, incessantly repeating to the beat: “And drink, drink, drink,” then “and ti ti” again “and drink ti ti” again “and ti ti”. At the same time, to the sound of this whispering music, Prince Andrei felt that some strange, airy building of thin needles or splinters was being erected above his face, above the very middle. He felt (although it was hard for him) that he had to diligently keep his balance so that the building that was being erected would not collapse; but it still collapsed and again slowly rose to the sounds of evenly whispering music. "It's pulling! stretches! stretches and everything stretches, ”Prince Andrei said to himself. Together with listening to the whisper and with the feeling of this stretching and rising building of needles, Prince Andrei saw in fits and starts the red light of a candle surrounded by a circle and heard the rustling of cockroaches and the rustling of a fly beating on the pillow and on his face. And every time a fly touched his face, it produced a burning sensation; but at the same time he was surprised that, striking in the very region of the building erected on the face of his face, the fly did not destroy it. But besides that, there was one more important thing. It was white at the door, it was a statue of a sphinx that crushed him too.
“But maybe this is my shirt on the table,” thought Prince Andrei, “and these are my legs, and this is the door; but why is everything stretching and moving forward and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink and drink ... “Enough, stop it, please leave it,” Prince Andrei heavily asked someone. And suddenly the thought and feeling came up again with unusual clarity and force.
“Yes, love,” he thought again with perfect clarity), but not the love that loves for something, for something or for some reason, but the love that I experienced for the first time when, dying, I saw my enemy and still loved him. I experienced that feeling of love, which is the very essence of the soul and for which no object is needed. I still have that blissful feeling. Love your neighbors, love your enemies. To love everything is to love God in all manifestations. You can love a dear person with human love; but only the enemy can be loved with divine love. And from this I experienced such joy when I felt that I love that person. What about him? Is he alive... Loving with human love, one can move from love to hatred; but divine love cannot change. Nothing, not death, nothing can destroy it. She is the essence of the soul. And how many people I hated in my life. And of all people, I did not love or hate anyone else like her. And he vividly imagined Natasha, not in the way he had imagined her before, with only her charm, joyful for himself; but for the first time imagined her soul. And he understood her feeling, her suffering, shame, repentance. He now for the first time understood the cruelty of his refusal, saw the cruelty of his break with her. “If only it were possible for me to see her one more time. Once, looking into those eyes, say ... "
And drink, drink, drink, and drink, and drink, drink - boom, a fly hit ... And his attention was suddenly transferred to another world of reality and delirium, in which something special was happening. Everything in this world was still being erected, without collapsing, the building, something was still stretching, the same candle was burning with a red circle, the same Sphinx shirt was lying at the door; but besides all this, something creaked, smelled of fresh wind, and a new white sphinx, standing, appeared before the door. And in the head of this sphinx there was a pale face and shining eyes of that same Natasha, of whom he was now thinking.
“Oh, how heavy is this incessant nonsense!” thought Prince Andrei, trying to drive this face out of his imagination. But this face stood before him with the force of reality, and this face drew nearer. Prince Andrei wanted to return to the former world of pure thought, but he could not, and delirium drew him into his own realm. A quiet whispering voice continued its measured babble, something pressed, stretched, and a strange face stood before him. Prince Andrei gathered all his strength to come to his senses; he stirred, and suddenly there was a ringing in his ears, his eyes became dim, and he, like a man who has plunged into water, lost consciousness. When he woke up, Natasha, that very living Natasha, whom, of all the people in the world, he most of all wanted to love with that new, pure divine love that was now revealed to him, was kneeling before him. He realized that it was a living, real Natasha, and was not surprised, but quietly delighted. Natasha, on her knees, frightened, but chained (she could not move), looked at him, holding back her sobs. Her face was pale and motionless. Only in the lower part of it fluttered something.
Prince Andrei breathed a sigh of relief, smiled and held out his hand.
- You? - he said. - How happy!
Natasha, with a quick but careful movement, moved towards him on her knees and, carefully taking his hand, bent over her face and began to kiss her, slightly touching her lips.
- Sorry! she said in a whisper, raising her head and looking at him. - Forgive me!
“I love you,” said Prince Andrei.
- Sorry…
- Forgive what? asked Prince Andrew.
“Forgive me for what I did,” Natasha said in a barely audible, interrupted whisper, and began to kiss her hand more often, slightly touching her lips.
“I love you more, better than before,” said Prince Andrei, raising her face with his hand so that he could look into her eyes.
Those eyes, filled with happy tears, looked at him timidly, compassionately and joyfully with love. Natasha's thin and pale face with swollen lips was more than ugly, it was terrible. But Prince Andrei did not see this face, he saw shining eyes that were beautiful. Behind them, a voice was heard.
Pyotr the valet, now completely awake from sleep, woke the doctor. Timokhin, who did not sleep all the time from the pain in his leg, had long seen everything that was being done, and, diligently covering his undressed body with a sheet, huddled on the bench.
- What is it? said the doctor, rising from his bed. “Let me go, sir.”
At the same time, a girl knocked on the door, sent by the countess, missing her daughter.
Like a somnambulist who was awakened in the middle of her sleep, Natasha left the room and, returning to her hut, fell on her bed sobbing.

From that day on, during the entire further journey of the Rostovs, at all rests and overnight stays, Natasha did not leave the wounded Bolkonsky, and the doctor had to admit that he did not expect from the girl either such firmness or such skill in walking after the wounded.
No matter how terrible the idea seemed to the countess that Prince Andrei could (very likely, according to the doctor) die during the journey in the arms of her daughter, she could not resist Natasha. Although, as a result of the now established rapprochement between the wounded Prince Andrei and Natasha, it occurred to me that in the event of recovery, the former relations between the bride and groom would be resumed, no one, still less Natasha and Prince Andrei, spoke about this: the unresolved, hanging question of life or death was not only over Bolkonsky, but over Russia obscured all other assumptions.

Pierre woke up late on September 3rd. His head ached, the dress in which he slept without undressing weighed heavily on his body, and in his soul there was a vague consciousness of something shameful that had been committed the day before; it was shameful yesterday's conversation with Captain Rambal.
The clock showed eleven, but it seemed especially overcast outside. Pierre got up, rubbed his eyes, and, seeing a pistol with a carved stock, which Gerasim put back on the desk, Pierre remembered where he was and what was coming to him that very day.
“Am I too late? thought Pierre. “No, he will probably make his entry into Moscow no earlier than twelve.” Pierre did not allow himself to think about what lay ahead of him, but was in a hurry to act quickly.
Adjusting his dress, Pierre took a pistol in his hands and was about to go. But then for the first time the thought came to him about how, not in his hand, along the street to carry this weapon to him. Even under a wide caftan it was difficult to hide a large pistol. Neither behind the belt nor under the arm could it be placed inconspicuously. In addition, the pistol was unloaded, and Pierre did not have time to load it. “It doesn’t matter, the dagger,” Pierre said to himself, although more than once, discussing the fulfillment of his intention, he decided with himself that the main mistake of the student in 1809 was that he wanted to kill Napoleon with a dagger. But, as if Pierre's main goal was not to fulfill his plan, but to show himself that he does not renounce his intention and does everything to fulfill it, Pierre hastily took what he bought from the Sukharev Tower along with a pistol a blunt serrated dagger in a green scabbard and hid it under his waistcoat.
Belting his caftan and pulling on his hat, Pierre, trying not to make noise and not meet the captain, walked along the corridor and went out into the street.
That fire, which he had looked at with such indifference the previous evening, increased significantly during the night. Moscow was already burning from different sides. Burning at the same time Karetny Ryad, Zamoskvorechye, Gostiny Dvor, Povarskaya, barges on the Moskva River and a wood market near the Dorogomilovsky Bridge.
Pierre's path lay through lanes to Povarskaya and from there to the Arbat, to Nikola Yavlenny, in whose imagination he had long ago determined the place where his deed should be done. Most of the houses had locked gates and shutters. The streets and lanes were deserted. The air smelled of burning and smoke. From time to time there were Russians with uneasily timid faces and Frenchmen with a non-urban, camp look, walking along the middle of the streets. Both of them looked at Pierre with surprise. In addition to his great height and thickness, in addition to the strange gloomy concentrated and suffering expression of his face and whole figure, the Russians looked closely at Pierre, because they did not understand what class this person could belong to. The French followed him with surprise with their eyes, especially because Pierre, disgusted by all other Russians, who looked at the French with fear or curiosity, did not pay any attention to them. At the gates of a house, three Frenchmen, who were explaining something to the Russian people who did not understand them, stopped Pierre, asking if he knew French?
Pierre shook his head negatively and went on. In another alley, a sentry standing at a green box shouted at him, and Pierre only realized at the repeated menacing cry and the sound of a gun taken by the sentry in his hand that he had to go around the other side of the street. He did not hear or see anything around him. He, like something terrible and alien to him, with haste and horror carried his intention within himself, fearing - taught by the experience of last night - somehow lose it. But Pierre was not destined to convey his mood intact to the place where he was heading. In addition, even if he had not been stopped by anything on the way, his intention could not have been carried out already because Napoleon had traveled more than four hours ago from the Dorogomilovsky suburb through the Arbat to the Kremlin and was now sitting in the tsar’s office in the gloomiest mood. Kremlin Palace and gave detailed, detailed orders on the measures that should immediately have been taken to extinguish the fire, prevent looting and calm the inhabitants. But Pierre did not know this; he, completely absorbed in what was to come, was tormented, as people are tormented who stubbornly undertook an impossible deed - not because of difficulties, but because of the unusualness of the matter with their nature; he was tormented by the fear that he would weaken at the decisive moment and, as a result, lose respect for himself.
Although he did not see or hear anything around him, he knew the way by instinct and was not mistaken by the lanes that led him to Povarskaya.
As Pierre approached Povarskaya, the smoke grew stronger and stronger, it even became warm from the fire. From time to time, fiery tongues rose from behind the roofs of houses. More people met on the streets, and this people were more anxious. But Pierre, although he felt that something unusual was going on around him, did not realize that he was approaching the fire. Walking along a path that ran along a large undeveloped place, adjacent on one side to Povarskaya, on the other to the gardens of the house of Prince Gruzinsky, Pierre suddenly heard a desperate cry of a woman beside him. He stopped, as if awakening from a dream, and raised his head.
Away from the path, on dried dusty grass, a heap of household belongings were piled up: featherbeds, a samovar, images and chests. On the ground near the chests sat a middle-aged, thin woman, with long protruding upper teeth, dressed in a black cloak and cap. This woman, swaying and saying something, bursting into tears. Two girls, from ten to twelve years old, dressed in dirty short dresses and cloaks, with an expression of bewilderment on their pale, frightened faces, looked at their mother. A younger boy, about seven years old, in a coat and a huge cap that was not his own, was crying in the arms of the old nurse. A dirty, barefooted girl sat on a chest and, having loosened her whitish braid, tugged at her singed hair, sniffing at it. The husband, a short, round-shouldered man in a uniform, with wheel-shaped sideburns and smooth temples that could be seen from under a directly put on cap, with an immovable face, parted chests stacked one on top of the other, and pulled out some kind of robes from under them.
The woman almost threw herself at Pierre's feet when she saw him.
“Dear fathers, Orthodox Christians, save me, help me, my dear! .. someone help me,” she said through sobs. - A girl! .. Daughter! .. They left my younger daughter! .. Burned down! Oh oh oh! for that I lele you ... Oh oh oh!
“That’s enough, Marya Nikolaevna,” the husband turned to his wife in a low voice, apparently only to justify himself before a stranger. - The sister must have taken it away, otherwise where else to be? he added.
- An idol! The villain! the woman screamed angrily, suddenly stopping crying. “You don’t have a heart, you don’t feel sorry for your child. Another would have taken it out of the fire. And this is an idol, not a man, not a father. You are a noble person, - the woman turned to Pierre with a patter, sobbing. - It caught fire nearby, - it was thrown towards us. The girl screamed: it's on fire! Rushed to collect. In what they were, they jumped out in that ... That's what they captured ... God's blessing and a dowry bed, otherwise everything was gone. Grab the kids, no Katechki. Oh my God! Ltd! – and again she sobbed. - My dear child, it burned down! burned down!
- Yes, where, where did she stay? Pierre said. From the expression on his animated face, the woman realized that this man could help her.
- Father! Father! she screamed, grabbing his legs. - Benefactor, at least calm my heart ... Aniska, go, vile, see her off, - she shouted at the girl, opening her mouth angrily and showing her long teeth even more with this movement.
“See, see, I ... I ... I will do it,” Pierre said hastily in a breathless voice.
The dirty girl stepped out from behind the trunk, cleaned up her scythe, and, sighing, went forward with her blunt bare feet along the path. Pierre, as it were, suddenly woke up to life after a severe fainting spell. He raised his head higher, his eyes lit up with the brilliance of life, and he quickly followed the girl, overtook her and went out to Povarskaya. The whole street was covered with a cloud of black smoke. Tongues of flame escaped from this cloud in some places. People crowded in front of the fire in a large crowd. In the middle of the street stood a French general and said something to those around him. Pierre, accompanied by a girl, went up to the place where the general was standing; but the French soldiers stopped him.
- On ne passe pas, [They don't pass here,] - a voice shouted to him.
- Over here, uncle! - said the girl. - We will go through the alley, through the Nikulins.
Pierre turned back and walked, occasionally jumping up to keep up with her. The girl ran across the street, turned left into an alley and, after passing through three houses, turned right at the gate.
“Right here now,” said the girl, and, running through the yard, she opened the gate in the boarded fence and, stopping, pointed out to Pierre a small wooden outbuilding that was burning brightly and hotly. One side of it collapsed, the other burned, and the flames brightly knocked out from under the openings of the windows and from under the roof.
When Pierre entered the gate, he was overwhelmed with heat, and he involuntarily stopped.
- Which, which is your house? - he asked.
– Oh oh oh! howled the girl, pointing to the outbuilding. - He was the most, she was our most Vater. Burnt, you are my treasure, Katechka, my beloved lady, oh oh! Aniska howled at the sight of the fire, feeling the need to show her feelings as well.
Pierre leaned towards the outbuilding, but the heat was so strong that he involuntarily described an arc around the outbuilding and found himself near a large house, which was still on fire only on one side from the roof and around which a crowd of Frenchmen swarmed. At first, Pierre did not understand what these Frenchmen were doing, dragging something; but, seeing in front of him a Frenchman who was beating a peasant with a blunt cleaver, taking away his fox coat, Pierre vaguely understood that they were robbing here, but he had no time to dwell on this thought.
The sound of the crackling and rumble of collapsing walls and ceilings, the whistling and hissing of flames and the lively cries of the people, the sight of wavering, then frowning thick black, then soaring brightening clouds of smoke with sparkles and somewhere solid, sheaf-like, red, sometimes scaly gold, moving along the walls of the flame , the feeling of heat and smoke and the speed of movement produced their usual exciting effect on Pierre from fires. This effect was especially strong on Pierre, because Pierre suddenly, at the sight of this fire, felt freed from the thoughts that weighed on him. He felt young, cheerful, agile and determined. He ran around the outbuilding from the side of the house and was about to run to that part of it that was still standing, when a cry of several voices was heard above his head, followed by the crackling and clanging of something heavy that fell beside him.
Pierre looked around and saw Frenchmen in the windows of the house, throwing out a chest of drawers filled with some kind of metal things. The other French soldiers below approached the box.

On April 30, 2018, the fight between Russian mixed martial arts legend Fedor Emelianenko and former UFC champion Frank Mir, who returns after a two-year layoff, will take place. Why is an American fighter dangerous for Fedor?

Francisco Santos World III or, as the fans know him, Frank Mir - this name is associated by all MMA fans with the most terrible and spectacular painful holds in MMA in the heavyweight division.

Famed referee Herb Dean recalls that Mir always seemed to him one of the strongest fighters on the planet. He was present at his fight with Nogueira and there for the first time he saw how a man's arm was broken in the ring.

Usually the fighter manages to give up and the submission does not go that far, but the best heavyweight jitser in Brazil did not want to give in to the American and this ended in a terrible injury for him.

Adding to the seriousness of Frank Mir is the fact that he was the UFC champion and interim UFC heavyweight champion. Frank's track record is truly impressive. He defeated such famous fighters as Tank Abbott, Tim Sylvia, Brock Lesnar, Cheick Kongo, Mirko Cro Cop, Roy Nelson and many others.

Biography of Frank Mir

He began his journey in MMA at the Kempo martial arts school, owned by his father. The 14-year-old Mir learned about jiu-jitsu when he and his father first entered the UFC tournament as spectators.

They were greatly surprised that the small and thin Royce Gracie wins with the help of painful huge fighters. From that moment, Frank's father firmly decided that his son needed to seriously engage in wrestling and then move on to jiu-jitsu. And so it happened, by 2004 Frank Mir became the owner of a black belt in BJJ.

The turning point in his career was a motorcycle accident in 2004. Frank's motorcycle collided with a car at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour, resulting in numerous fractures and torn ligaments of the thigh.

Of course, there was no question of entering the cage, but Mir did not give up and decided on a difficult operation, after which he began re-training to return to MMA.

The return to the UFC was not easy for him and he lost two fights, but in the third he forced the good kickboxer Anthony Hardock to surrender. The most important fight of his career was the meeting with Nogueira, whom he defeated by knockout in the second round. It was the first knockout for the Brazilian and he wanted to avenge this defeat.

The second fight also took place under the dictation of the World and very quickly the Minotaur was on the floor. Frank went to the painful arm - kimura and tried to force the Brazilian to surrender, but he attempted to get out of the painful with the help of a somersault. Frank did not let go of his hand and this attempt ended in a fracture.

Why is Frank Mir dangerous for Fedor Emelianenko?

Almost everyone - he's big, hits hard and has the best submission in the heavyweight division. The only controversial moment is the two-year downtime of Frank Mir after the fight with Mark Hunt, whom he lost by knockout. In the blood of the World found a banned drug - turinobol, which caused a disqualification for two years. Thus, the fight with Fedor will be the first after the break.

The current Fedor Emelianenko has not demonstrated ground work for a long time, so we have no way to assess his level of struggle at the moment. The last time Fedor performed a pass to the legs back in 2010, since then the Russian prefers to fight in the stance.

The main disadvantage for the Last Emperor is the dimensions of the American fighter.

Frank Mir has a height of 196 cm and a weight of 116 kg, which significantly exceeds the performance of Fedor.

Yes, the early Emelianenko also defeated more massive fighters, but the current one lost by knockout to Matt Mitrione, who is definitely far from world-class.

findings

Who will win this fight? We will not draw hasty conclusions, but unfortunately there are not many facts in support of Emelianenko. In any case, we will root for Fedor and wish him victory. We will announce the winner on April 30th.

Biography

I thought I would find a way to resist this instead of just agreeing and starting training."

His father persuaded him to start wrestling in order to learn how not to fall for submissions, while Frank attended Bonanza High School in his native Las Vegas, where he earned a 44-1 record.

On August 12, 2005, it became known that Mir would not be able to enter the scheduled fight against Andrei Arlovskiy, thanks to which the Belarusian became the absolute champion, and Frank lost any rights to the belt.

Return to UFC

Mir healed a knee injury and returned to the octagon for February 4, 2006 The first opponent after such a long break was Marcio Cruz, who had a 1-0 record at the time of the fight. At the third minute of the fight, the referee stopped the fight to find out the severity of the cut on Mir's face. After inspection, Frank was asked to continue the fight, to which he agreed. But already at 5 minutes, the referee stopped the fight again, but already to award Cruz a victory by technical knockout
