How to prepare an apartment for consecration. How to properly wheel when consecrating an apartment by a priest. What to do after the ritual? General principles for the purification of residential space by fire

13.10.2014

Orthodoxy is rich in traditions. The consecration of the home is one of the most important and obligatory rituals. This ritual protects from dark forces, is a symbol of the Lord's blessing and involvement in the church. A move or the completion of a renovation is often associated with the tradition of consecrating a home. The priest may advise to perform this ceremony if people are haunted by serious illnesses, family problems, or if small children live in the apartment.

What is needed for home lighting

According to Orthodox tradition, the rite of consecration of a dwelling should be carried out exclusively by a priest. Therefore, if you need to consecrate an apartment, invite a priest from the temple for this. Usually, for this rite, the priest carries a censer, oil and holy water. But in order to avoid problems with their absence, it is better to purchase everything you need in advance. Candles can be bought at any church shop. Water is blessed once a year, on the day of the Epiphany of the Lord. You can take it from any source. Most often, water is collected from an ice hole for lighting. Usually people who observe Orthodox traditions have holy water, so if it is not available, contact them.
Stages of the ceremony

When conducting independently, you must:

have a blessing for the ceremony;
to clean the house;
prepare a red corner with an icon and a lamp.

If it is not possible to invite a priest to the rite of illumination, you can conduct it yourself, the church allows this to a layman. But before that, it is desirable to receive a blessing from a spiritual mentor. If there is no mentor, a priest in the temple can bless you to illuminate the house. Before the ceremony, the dwelling must be properly cleaned, the floors washed, and aired. If your apartment does not have a red corner, which is the location of the icon or iconostasis opposite the entrance, then at least for the duration of the lighting, put an icon and a lamp there. Lighting is usually held on Sunday.

To do this, three fingers are dipped into a bowl, which should preferably be new. The fingers should be folded with three fingers, as if you want to cross yourself. The room is sprinkled with holy water. This is done clockwise, starting from the red corner. The prayer "In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" is read. Also during the ceremony, you can read the ninetieth psalm. After the end of the ceremony in each room, it is necessary to complete it with the Sign of the Cross at the front door.

The wedding is a sacred sacrament, and only people who are sincere with their partner and with themselves can perform it. You can not perform this ceremony, only for the sake of preserving traditions or paying tribute to fashion. ...

About the consecration of a dwelling. What is needed for this, when can a house be consecrated? What buildings cannot be consecrated.

Sticker on the walls at the consecration of the dwelling. (Anointed by a priest with consecrated chrism)

The consecration of an apartment was originally performed as a blessing for the construction of a new house, then as a blessing for the entrance to this house. The same applies to the consecration of other things. By sanctifying a machine, a person not only creates some new quality of this machine, but by his act he states that he dedicates himself, this machine, his deeds and thoughts to God. Therefore, those people who think that the consecration of a car is enough to ensure that it never gets into an accident, should remember that by consecrating a car, a person is consecrated himself and must correspond to this consecration.

What is consecration?

- Orthodox Christians call sanctification rites through which the blessing of God descends on their lives. According to the teachings of the Church, the basis of various rituals is, first of all, the desire to spiritualize human activity, to perform it with God's blessing. It is important to understand that the consecration of a place begins from the moment when people, entering a house or apartment, begin to live there correctly. And therefore, the consecration of a dwelling by a priest is a confirmation of your desire to live in a consecrated place, the intention to fulfill the Christian commandments, remembering that the family is a small church, and work is a place of labor for the glory of God.

Do I need to dedicate an apartment?

- the consecration of the apartment does not solve our family, everyday problems, it only helps, sets up. A person is free to choose whether he lives with God or acts according to his passions. If a family is trying to live in a Christian way, then both its internal and external dispensation should testify to this. The internal structure is improved and preserved through fasting and prayer, attending divine services, and the external expression of the intention to live piously finds itself, including in the rite of consecrating the dwelling. It must be remembered that the consecration of the house is a common prayer of the family and the priest that people live holy in this place.

When can consecration take place?

- there are a number of points that you need to keep in mind when preparing for the commission of the rank. The ceremony itself is short (30-60 minutes) - the priest sprinkles the room with holy water, burns incense and calls in prayer to God to start a good deed (the rite of blessing the dwelling). At the same time, not every deed can be considered good. They will not, for example, consecrate a business related to the production or sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, the banking and credit system (usury), the provision of sexual services, witchcraft and magic. The priest may refuse to perform the ceremony if the premises are not tidied up, and the employees behave inappropriately (swear, for example). In this case, you will probably be advised to “fix the flaws” and return to this issue later.

Those who hang amulets on the walls to consecrate the apartment, talismans - images of demons, with or without horns, sin. Those who call sorcerers to their house do even worse, so that with their sorcery they “cleanse” the room from evil spirits. But this, as the Gospel says, is the same as casting out Satan with Satan or cleansing dirt with mud.

Note that all these ancient sorcerers, sorcerers, magicians, charmers, sorcerers, healers, astrologers, demonologists, fortune-tellers now have other names, more cultural or scientific: hypnotists, psychics, traditional healers, ufologists, astrologers, contactees, mediums, spiritualists, theosophists, occultists, conjurers, non-contact masseurs, parapsychologists, psychotherapists, telepaths, telekinesists, fortune tellers on computers, telehealers, etc. Now they no longer just conjure, but charge water. Not just tell fortunes, but make passes. Satanism is covered by science. Sorcerers now have specialist diplomas. Felkillers have become intellectuals. But from the change of the sign, their essence has not changed. These are wolves in sheep's clothing, from which you need to move away, even if they use Christian symbols, gospel words, the sign of the cross or the name of God in their sessions.

Is it possible to call “brownies”, let a cat into a new home?

Some, when moving to a new apartment, resort to pagan superstitions: they call their “brownie”, “owner” with them. You can't do this. You are calling evil spirits on your head. Others succumb to another misconception: supposedly, in order to “consecrate” a new house, they first let a cat into it. Blowing out candles with verdicts like: “..so that all the bad things that happened before also go out and never come back” - are pagan magics, and are not allowed. If a person has done all this, he must repent at confession for this, and never again do this.

What to do if there is an evil spirit in the house?

- First of all, try to find the reason for its appearance in yourself. Confession and communion help to get rid of unclean spirits. But there is also a special prayer for this "For the temple, chilled by evil spirits." We do not advise you to read it yourself, this is the business of the priest. And if the priest does not undertake to exorcise evil spirits, turn to a hieromonk or an elder, do not lose hope, because the Gospel says: "the seeker will find." Know that evil spirits or demons now have a different name: "UFO" (unidentified flying objects), "AJ" (anomalous phenomena), "poltergeist". Poltergeists are devilish miracles (the most common occurrence in homes). In the diary of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, a Russian poet, there is a documentary record of such a “miracle” that happened in his time. In one house, furniture, chairs and tables began to jump and move by themselves. This is how evil spirits mock. The police couldn't help. This phenomenon stopped only after the Orthodox priest served a prayer service in the house. And in our days, how many different phenomena of “invisible drums” are described that knock, beat their owners, drop refrigerators on the floor silently, light wallpaper without fire, pour water from a wall in which there is no pipe, no water, etc. I must say, that no one is safe from this demonism. But most often it happens to non-Christians, pagans by way of life, to unbelievers, so that they change their minds at least a little: if there are demons, then, probably, there are both angels and God. And, of course, there are habitats for both, hell and heaven. It is a pity that for many this experience is sad.

What is required for consecration?

- for the consecration of the apartment, it is desirable that the apartment be tidied up, the repair is completed. In the church shop you need to purchase 4 stickers with the image of a cross and 4 of the smallest candles. At home, you need to prepare a small table on which the priest can place the sacred objects necessary for consecration (usually installed in the best place), a clean bowl for St. water (salad bowl, vase, etc.), about a glass of vegetable oil (sveli), sv. The priest brings water with him. It is imperative that the one who ordered the consecration of the dwelling be present at this rite and participate in prayer. It is also allowed, with due desire and ability, with the blessing of the priest, to read some prayers during the performance of the rite. During the consecration, it is necessary to temporarily turn off the phones, do not talk during prayer.

Is it necessary to fast before consecration, to take communion?

- A Christian must, all the days of his life, fast, pray and take communion as our holy Church commands.

Should a woman cover her head?

- yes, it is desirable. A woman should cover her head while praying.

Does the dinner table need to be set?

- among many Orthodox there is such a good tradition after consecration to set the table, tea drinking, because the priest who came to the house for the celebration of consecration symbolizes Christ. If you feel such a need, prepare a festive table in advance in honor of the consecration of your home. Perhaps getting to know and communicating with a priest will help you in the future.

How to sanctify an apartment yourself?

- no way. The rite of blessing the dwelling is performed only by an Orthodox priest who is not prohibited from serving.

What to do after consecration?

- A Christian should strive for holiness. That is why, after the consecration of housing, it is forbidden to smoke, swear or do other sins in it. Otherwise, what was the purpose of consecrating then? After all, the second time the apartment is not consecrated (except in cases of death of someone in the apartment or repairs). But if sins happen, for this the Church has given you the right (and obligation) to sanctify your house yourself in humility and repentance. To do this, sprinkle all the premises with holy water with the prayer "In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" or "The Grace of the Holy Spirit." Remember that the water must be blessed by an Orthodox priest, and not taken from the so-called "holy springs" (because not all of them are truly holy). Do not confuse blessed water with "healing" or "charged with energy." Sprinkle with a brush from the rosary or a handful, crosswise (the priest does this with a hyssop sprinkler). You need to store consecrated water in a red corner (it can stand for years and decades and not deteriorate), in the same place as the icons, and not in a kitchen or bookcase. Do not allow children to play with the shrine, with spiritual books, with prosphora, icons, crosses. Self-consecration (sprinkling with holy water) is performed only AFTER personal full consecration by the priest himself, because. mere sprinkling cannot in any way replace the rite of consecration itself.

Coal after consecration is poured into a place that is not trampled underfoot, for example, in bushes or under a tree. They drink holy water with reverence, consecrated oil - they smear sore spots with prayer, add it to food.

What places can not be consecrated?

The Church does not have a list of things that cannot be consecrated. But, proceeding from the very meaning of consecration, it is impossible to consecrate those things that subsequently cannot be used for a good purpose. You can not consecrate institutions in which they indulge in vice. This ban also existed in pre-revolutionary Russia. Also, some clergy believe that the consecration of places of detention, places where a person suffers, is a theological problem. Although nothing prevents us from creating temples in these places of deprivation of liberty.

While refusing to bless the places of execution and torture, the Church nonetheless sanctifies weapons. A weapon is a thing that can be used for both evil and good purposes. Consecrating weapons, the Church has never blessed aggression, violence for the sake of violence, murder for the sake of murder. The Church blesses the soldiers for the feat of arms to defend their homeland, and, above all, to defend the faith. According to the canonical rules of the Church, a warrior who killed even in a just war had to confess this and suffer one or another penance, despite the fact that the Church herself blessed the warrior for this feat.

Weapons are not inherently bad things. It all depends on whose hands the weapon is in. If a weapon is in the hands of a Christian who defends shrines and his homeland, then it is used for good, and if in the hands of a terrorist, then for evil. The Church does not consecrate weapons as such, but only in the hands of a warrior fighting for justice.

You can consecrate your home absolutely free of charge on one of the coming Thursdays.

To do this, go to the Church and buy a few candles for the house and 3 for the Orthodox image of St. Nicholas.
Putting 3 candles to him, cross yourself and say these prayer lines:

Miracle Worker Nikolai, bless me to cleanse the apartment and expel demonic power from it. May it be so. Amen."

You return back.

Arriving home, light one candle and walk with it all over without
exceptions to the corners of your apartment, while reading a prayer for consecration,
which I inherited:

I clean the corner, I clean the floor, I clean the ceiling and walls. I drive demons, I drive envy. I burn with a candle of illness, sickness and misfortune. Amen."

You can write this short prayer on a piece of paper, holding it in one
hand, and with the other hand to baptize the corners of the apartment, the room itself and the walls.
Do
so 3 Thursdays in a row, not forgetting these days to go to the Orthodox and
ask Nicholas the Pleasant for blessings for self-consecration
apartments.

In about one month you will feel the holy grace of cozy rooms.

I bring to your attention an Orthodox prayer for cleansing the house, addressed to Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Over time, our paternal home becomes a repository of negative energy.
Quarreling and sorting things out, we do not think about the fact that the dwelling needs prayerful cleaning.
This is not for you to “wave with a broom”, collecting dust particles with a damp cloth.

Here the essence is the Orthodox cleansing, which is required to be carried out at least once a month.
For this purpose, they conceived prayers for cleansing the house, read to Nikolai Ugodnik.

How to cleanse with prayers.
Cleansing with a prayer word should be carried out with a pure soul. This
means that before the procedure you need to visit
Orthodox and confess to the Father. You will also have a blessed
communion and a strict three-day fast. Only after this can
start cleaning the house.

You need to clean your home, house or apartment with candles, driving them around the perimeter of the room.
This should be done slowly, patiently watching what kind of soot is formed and how the candles behave in a particular area.
The “not calmer” the flame and the barely perceptible crackle, the less favorable the energy zone.
And do not forget to sprinkle the corners of your spacious apartment with holy water.
Prayer cleansing of the house will help you drive the accumulated sorrow out of the apartment.

The text of the prayer for the cleansing of the house.
The prayer is quite long, so it is not at all necessary to memorize it.
Just write it down on a blank sheet of paper and read it over and over again, cleaning the apartment and following the tips above.

I appeal to you, Saint Nicholas. You are your miracles to us.
Help me cleanse my house from my own and sent filth. From
swearing and trash, from anger and envy, cleanse my house. Candle and holy
water, cleanse my house. From the mob of demons and vicious thoughts, cleanse my
House. So let peace and love nest in it. May it be so. Amen.!

It was one of the most powerful prayers for cleansing the house.
Asking Nicholas the Wonderworker for grace-filled help, try to swear as little as possible, restraining yourself and forgiving others.

Prayer for the blessing of the house to Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Before you start an Orthodox prayer, go to the Temple and submit a simple note about the health of the household.
Also, don't forget the eve.
Place 3 candles each to the icon of Jesus Christ, the Most Holy Theotokos, the Blessed Old Lady Matrona of Moscow and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Being at the image of the latter, say these prayer lines to yourself:

Wonderworker Nicholas, bless my house and those who live in it. Amen.

Cross yourself heartily and come back.
Collect plenty of holy water and buy 12 candles.
If the icons listed above are not available, purchase them at the Temple.

The ideal option would be if each of those living in the house personally asks for blessings from Nicholas the Pleasant.
Otherwise, please pray.

Light all the candles. Place icons and a decanter of holy water nearby.
Crossing yourself diligently, proceed to repeated whispering of the Orthodox prayer.

Wonderworker Nicholas, Savior and Defender. We, all living in a common monastery, ask you for a holy blessing.
Let it be light and calm, without quarrels and ridiculous enmity. Let it become joyful, enough, and we pray for this.
May the angel not leave our house, and your miracle will descend. Kindness will not cool down in hearts, and the Kingdom of God will come.
May your will be done. Amen."

Cross yourself again and drink holy water.
Let everyone else take a sip of it.
This prayer, addressed to Nicholas the Wonderworker, is formulated in poetic form.
She will definitely be heard, and the house will be blessed.
You just believe it.

To protect your household from negative interference, try reading prayers.

To get started, visit the Orthodox Church and submit simple notes about the health of all family members.
Put 3 candles to the Orthodox icons of Jesus Christ, Nicholas the Wonderworker and the Blessed Old Lady Matrona of Moscow.
In addition, purchase 12 more candles for the house, collect holy water and buy, if not available, the icons listed above.
Crossing yourself diligently, come back.

At the most appropriate time, light all the candles. Place icons and a glass of holy water nearby.
Mentally ask the Lord God for forgiveness - for yourself and all those living in the house.
Proceed to the repeated reading of Orthodox prayers addressed to the Almighty.

Prayer for the protection of the family.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God. Protect my family from intrigues
enemy and strengthen our faith in holy Orthodoxy. Cleanse our souls from
sinful soot and deliver all living from terrible diseases. Don't let go
discord in the family and help us to comprehend your life-giving wisdom. Yes
it will be so. Amen.

Prayer for the protection of the house.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God. Protect my house from fierce envy and
from evil people. Save us from the sinful abyss and not
test your faith with severe trials. Save our house from ruin
fire and desecration. May your will be done. Amen.

Drink holy water and give it to all family members to sip.
Read these prayers if you feel something is wrong.
Do not rush to intrigue your spiteful critics.
May the Lord God himself determine the measure of restraint for them.

In order for peace to reign in your family, try reading a special prayer that will help you find a compromise.

Before you start praying fervently, you need to visit
Orthodox Temple and submit health notes for all family members.
For a sick inhabitant, it is best to order a Prayer for Health.
Arriving home, light church candles and mentally imagine peace and grace.
After that, proceed to the repeated reading of the prayer word:

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God. Forgive me all my free sins and
involuntary,
known and unknown. Take away family discord and help find peace yes
love. In a quarrel and anger, help me to stay, but not in a dispute
break loose. Help others with this. May your will be done. Amen."

There is another prayer for peace in the family, also addressed to the Lord God.
Read it if you suspect that an evil person has brought discord into the family.

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God. Turn enemies away from our family and
cleanse us from envious filth. If discord is going on with the demonic
help,
help me stop it. Send us a peaceful life and let go of everything
sins committed out of ignorance. May your will be done. Amen."

The ideal option would be if everyone living near you prays for peace and a prosperous family life on their own.

God bless you!

Peace to your home!

According to a widespread belief, only a churchman can consecrate anything, whether it be a house or a ship, a person who is in the clergy and serves the Lord. That is, in order to consecrate the house, you need a priest.

But is it? Is it really always necessary to invite a clergyman? Is it possible to sprinkle holy water in the corners yourself and read a protective prayer? Such questions arise in the minds of many people who have purchased or built their own homes.

When is it necessary to consecrate?

Thinking about how to sanctify a house, people involuntarily wonder if this should be done. In our country for many decades the church did not participate in human life. Accordingly, the houses were not consecrated, and the children were not baptized, while people lived very well. This is how many newly minted property owners argue, who do not quite understand who to turn to for consecration and believe that this process is complex and troublesome.

Indeed, it is not always necessary to consecrate a house, but only in certain situations. Consecration should be resorted to if in the purchased house:

  • a crime has occurred;
  • people lived poorly, went bankrupt, the family broke up or children died;
  • there were many seriously ill among the previous owners;
  • sinful, godless or satanic deeds were done;
  • there were fires, flooding of the basement, regular subsidence of the roof.

Of course, no one will tell buyers about all this. Therefore, you need to pay attention and listen to your intuition. The main reason for the consecration of the dwelling is a deep conviction of the need for this, an irrational inexplicable desire to sanctify the premises. Such sensations cannot be ignored, and if they arise, they must be consecrated.

When is it not allowed to sanctify?

Thinking about how to sanctify a house, many also ask questions about under what circumstances this should not be done. There are many superstitions among the people. For example, someone is convinced that it is impossible to perform rituals in fasting. Others are sure that the presence of critical days for a woman who is a family member may be an obstacle to consecration. Still others believe that if one of the family members is not baptized, then the house cannot be consecrated. There are other beliefs as well.

However, all this is not true. Neither critical days, nor the absence of a cross on the neck of one of the relatives, nor fasts interfere with the ceremony of consecrating the house. As any priest will say, even Great Lent is not an obstacle to the consecration of a dwelling.

The only thing that can interfere with the consecration of the acquired house is the ceremony already performed. The dwelling is consecrated only once, subsequently it is only cleansed. Rituals with holy water, church candles and prayers, conducted both by clergy and on their own, are aimed at cleansing the home.

Is it possible to consecrate yourself?

Contrary to the widespread belief that it is necessary to invite a priest for this ceremony, the church is not forbidden to conduct it on its own. The answer of the clergy to the question of whether it is possible to consecrate the house themselves will be in the affirmative.

Of course, it is far from always possible to conduct the rite of consecration on your own. Moreover, not all. People often confuse the rites of consecration of the dwelling with rituals for its purification. There are no obstacles and conditions for self-purification of domestic premises. But the possibility of consecrating housing on its own still has limitations.

What is needed for an independent ceremony?

How to properly sanctify the house yourself? The most important point is the strength of faith and the righteousness of human life. Of course, the one who will conduct the ceremony must be baptized.

The first thing to do is to secure the approval of the clergyman, in other words, to receive a blessing from the priest. With the clergyman, you need to discuss the details of the ceremony, decide on the method of its implementation.

Without the blessing of a clergyman, it is impossible to think about how to consecrate a house on your own. The performance of the ceremony by a person who has not received a blessing will not have power.

What are the ritual options?

How to bless your home? There are two options. In the first version, the ceremony is carried out with the help of church candles. The second uses holy water.

Which of the methods of consecrating the home to use must be determined together with the clergyman, during the discussion of the future ritual. You should not neglect the advice of the priest, but in the event that there is an inner conviction that it is necessary to consecrate with water or only with candles, you need to tell about it.

Which rite is better?

The consecration of a dwelling by the laity with the help of candles is much less popular than with the use of water. This is a very common belief, which consists in the fact that they consecrate with water and cleanse with candles. In fact, for the independent conduct of the ritual for the consecration of living quarters, you can use one or the other.

The methods do not have advantages over each other. But there are some nuances that determine the choice in the case when there is no firm internal preference, or the priest, for some reason, does not recommend a specific method.

In the ceremony with the use of candles, a prayer is read to Nicholas the Wonderworker. A person who is about to consecrate a house with a candle prays to this saint before the ceremony. The ritual itself is recommended to be performed on Thursdays.

During the ceremony with water, the layman turns to the Lord himself. The ceremony is recommended to be performed on Sunday, after having prayed to Jesus.

What prayer to read during consecration?

The prayer that helps to bless the house is a combination of psalms 90 and 100, between which there is an unspoken appeal to the Lord. It is in this way that the clergy sanctify the dwellings. The priests first read psalm 90. Then they silently turn to the Lord with a request to protect and bless the living quarters, and in the end they read psalm 100.

However, in how to consecrate a house to a layman, deviations from the accepted order of the ritual are permissible. The prayers that will be read at the consecration should be discussed with the clergyman. Psalms are difficult to read, therefore, when consecrating on their own, they usually read "Our Father" and other prayers.

When buying an old house, is it better to consecrate or clean?

Before you consecrate the purchased house, on your own or by inviting a clergyman, you need to find out if this rite has already been performed. Of course, if the house is new, then there can be no doubt that consecration is not forbidden. But when purchasing an old house, this issue becomes important. This is what any priest of a parishioner who comes to him for approval, support and blessing will ask about.

Church canons strictly forbid re-consecration. It is generally accepted that such an act is blasphemy. After all, since the dwelling has already been consecrated, it means that it is under the control of the Lord and under his protection. Re-sanctification is nothing but a manifestation of distrust in the Lord, an expression of doubt in Himself.

In the event that the purchased housing had a single owner, it will not be particularly difficult to find out whether the house was consecrated. But if you buy an old dwelling that has changed many generations of owners, for example, a village house built at the beginning of the last century, then it is almost impossible to find out whether it was consecrated. Even if the owners of the house were generations of staunch atheists, political workers or social activists of the local collective farm, one should not miss the possibility that one of the owners could conduct a secret rite of consecration. Therefore, it is better to cleanse such houses from filth and evil, and not to consecrate.

How is the ceremony performed with candles?

There is nothing complicated about how to consecrate a house with candles. In the church trading shop available in each temple, you need to purchase candles. Three in order to put in front of the face of Nicholas the Wonderworker, and three more - for the ceremony.

It is recommended to consecrate the dwelling in this way on Thursday. Before proceeding with the ritual, one should put a candle in front of the image of the Wonderworker and pray to him, asking for blessings and help in the implementation of the plan.

You can pray to the Miracle Worker like this:

Blessed Nicholas the Wonderworker, father. Bless me, a servant of God (proper name) for a great deed. Give me strength and remove doubt. Preserve and increase the firmness of my faith. Give peace to my soul and lightness to my thoughts. Help me in the consecration of my dwelling and the surrender of walls and shelter into the hands of the Lord, under the protection of the Almighty and for His great mercy, amen

The procedure in the house is as follows:

  • a lit candle is held in the right hand;
  • go around all the rooms clockwise;
  • baptize every corner, threshold, passage and walls;
  • read prayers.

Before proceeding with the ceremony, you should discuss with the priest how many times it will have to be performed. The traditional belief is to perform the ritual three Thursdays in a row. However, if the house is new and devoid of filth, and pious people moved into it, one round with a candle and prayers may be enough.

How is the ritual performed with water?

There is nothing complicated about how to sanctify a house with holy water. Having secured the blessing of the priest, on Sunday you should come to the service in the temple, pray to the Lord, asking for his help in conducting the ceremony. Also in the church you need to take the holy water necessary for the ritual.

Activities in the home are as follows:

  • pour water into a large and convenient dish, for example, a bowl;
  • go around the premises clockwise;
  • sprinkle water on every corner, aisle, jambs, walls;
  • fingers must be folded as they do for the sign of the cross;
  • throughout the ceremony to read prayers.

If there is a Red Corner in the house or planning to equip it, you should start bypassing from it.

What does sanctification entail?

Every human action in this world has its consequences. Such an important act as the consecration of one's own home is no exception. This act obliges the people who committed it to live in piety and in purity, both moral and everyday. After all, making the consecration of housing, they enthusiastically hand over their house to the Lord. They should take care of him in a corresponding way, that is, as if he were a house belonging to God, into which he can look at any moment.

It is impossible to sin in such a dwelling. We must not forget about maintaining cleanliness and order. One must not indulge in idleness and blasphemy. In other words, the consecration of housing is not only important from an energy point of view, it also serves as a powerful incentive for people. It is the core that does not allow them to indulge in idle laziness and wallow in dirt, not only spiritual or moral, but also the most ordinary. Indeed, in a house handed over to the Lord, one cannot give up on a layer of dust or unwashed window panes, on a pile of unwashed linen, a dirty stove and left rubbish.

Thus, the consecration of the dwelling disciplines a person. It does not allow him to "spread" on the sofa, which means that it is a boon not only for the soul, but also for simple everyday worldly life.

Many of us very rarely resort to the help of religion in difficult situations, but when things take a serious turn, and there is no one else to rely on, we remember God. Priests argue that the mere fact of conversion is already a good step, no matter when it is made. Therefore, there is nothing wrong with asking for help from higher powers. One of the manifestations of protecting yourself and your family with the help of prayer is the consecration of the home. According to all the rules, only a priest can do this, but if for some reason his visit is impossible, then you can learn how to consecrate an apartment, a house, even an office and industrial premises yourself.

In order to consecrate a dwelling, one must have holy water collected on the night of Epiphany. It is necessary to sprinkle the house with it, all its rooms, all corners, windows, doors. At this time, the prayer "Let God rise again" is read, then the 90th psalm is read, and at the end say "In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit." And confessors also say that no damage, the evil eye will remain in a house where they constantly pray, light candles, where there are icons and sincere words of repentance of Christians. You need to pray for a place, they say. If something important should happen in the house or among family members, then you need to light candles, ask God for help, wait until the candles burn out. And if you just pray with candles, then you can extinguish it and light it again.

An ancient way to cleanse the home

If you have not yet decided how to consecrate the apartment yourself, then you can resort to this old method. Count how many rooms you have in your apartment. Bathroom, hallway, kitchen, pantry are also considered separate rooms. You need to buy as many candles in the church as you have counted rooms. Then memorize one single prayer, "Our Father." Start cleaning the apartment from the front door, therefore, from the hallway. Light the first candle, bring it to each jamb, to the doorway, go around the perimeter clockwise. If somewhere the candle began to make a strong crackle, then stand in this place until it stops making loud sounds. Then go to the next room. Extinguish the first candle, light the second. In the next room, do the same - go around all the corners, bring the candle to the jambs, to the windows, to the handles. So you need to go around all the rooms, each time lighting a new candle. All the time while you are doing this ritual, you need to read a prayer. After it, you need to collect all the wax from the candles, all the remnants, take it to the church.

Home cleansing for people of all faiths

This method will tell you how to properly consecrate an apartment if representatives of different religions live under the same roof. Buy a new broom, start the ritual on the growing moon on Thursday. Start sweeping the trash out of every room, from back rooms to the front door. Say the words to yourself: “Garbage out of the house, down with troubles and troubles.” Sweep the rubbish onto a newspaper, wrap it tightly, take it, along with a broom, away from home and burn it.

In order to prevent negative energy from penetrating into your apartment, you need to lead the right spiritual lifestyle. You must sincerely believe in God, do not violate his commandments, do not wish other people what you would not wish for yourself, do not defile your thoughts with bad thoughts, your mouth with dirty words, your body with bad habits. Then your life will become easier, troubles will recede.
