Thus, we can not only replace, but also modernize your equipment. And it doesn't matter at all what brand of your laptop -

Adding and increasing laptop RAM at a wholesale price. Only with us it is possible.

Many users are not satisfied with the volume RAM portable computer, as it may not be enough to perform special resource-intensive tasks. Especially when it comes to engineering programs. There is still a way out add RAM to laptop. But to do this is not so easy. Much more difficult than on a desktop computer. Would need installation new memory modules. The first thing our clients care about what is the price such a service. We can say with certainty that laptop ram upgrade cost we really have the most affordable.

Main advantages:

1. RAM installed and changed only by qualified specialists who undergo special training and have extensive experience.

2. Only original components are used in the work. Despite this, their price is minimal. We will fix HP, Asus, Acer, Sony Vaio, Samsung, Toshiba, Lenovo, Dell.

3. After the repair is carried out, we will issue a guarantee for all equipment for up to 1 year.

How long does it take to replace laptop RAM?

In terms of time, it takes about 20 minutes to replace the RAM in a laptop.

An example from life.

A client came to our workshop with a problem. The fact is that the installed memory was not enough for him to work comfortably. He wanted to increase memory. Our experts immediately got to work. First of all, the laptop was diagnosed. By installing additional modules, the problem was solved. Before returning the equipment, testing was carried out. As soon as we were convinced that everything was working perfectly, we issued a guarantee for a period of one year. Within an hour, the user was able to pick up his device and enjoy its excellent performance.

Few in such devices are upgradeable (or, at least, it is difficult), but increasing the memory on a laptop in many cases is quite easy, this instruction is about that and is aimed at novice users.

Some laptops of past years may not have configurations that are not quite balanced by today's standards, for example - Core i7 and 4 GB of RAM, although it can be increased to 8 or even 16 gigabytes, which for a number of applications, games, video and graphics work can speed up work and relatively inexpensive.

This data is collected for statistical purposes only, to diagnose any problems on our servers and to improve the service. It is one of the most important elements of computer performance. Therefore, it ensures that the system functions properly without slowing down or shuddering.

The more memory available to your computer, the faster programs will run. However, this operation is never too easy, especially if you need to "work" on a laptop. That doesn't mean it's impossible, even for early adopters. So let's look at a few simple steps.

What RAM is needed for a laptop

Before buying memory sticks and increasing RAM, it's a good idea to find out how many RAM slots are in the laptop and how many of them are occupied, as well as what type of memory is needed.

If you have Windows 10 installed on your computer, then this can be done very simply: launch the task manager (you can from the menu that appears by right-clicking on the Start button), if the task manager is presented in a compact form, click the "Details" button at the bottom, then go to on the "Performance" tab and select "Memory".

First of all, you need to evaluate whether it is worth buying 1 or 2 banks of memory to add to the laptop. This is a program that, after a quick system analysis, provides valuable information on your computer. This last piece of information in particular is very valuable.

If you want to buy one bench, you must choose one with the same features as the one you already have. Theoretically, you can also select the upper tables, but the system will still run at the lowest frequency of all installed tables.

Each manufacturer designs a laptop according to their space requirements. However, in recent years, design standardization has begun to simplify the process of dismantling laptops and making them easier to repair. If you look at the bottom of the laptop, you will most likely notice a small flap secured with a screw covering a hole in the laptop's plastic case. Doing home repairs on your laptop will void your warranty if it hasn't expired yet.

At the bottom right, you will see information about how many memory slots are used and how many are available, as well as information about the memory frequency in the "Speed" item (from this information you can find out whether DDR3 or DDR4 memory is used on a laptop).

In the case of Windows 8 and Windows 7, you can disassemble the laptop (or, if a separate cover is provided for accessing the memory, remove it) and look at the markings and the presence of slots (by the way, this information may also be in the instructions for the laptop). But, since my articles are still for novice users, let's consider an easier way to find out everything you need without first disassembling the laptop.

This is the "last, last" operation, a little subtle: you must carefully measure the force so as not to break the door. Upon completion, you will face a situation similar to the one shown in the picture. Subscribe to our newsletter. You will receive the latest news weekly. interesting in the world of technology!

Once you have a new or old computer, now you just need to install it, that is, install it on the motherboard. This simple operation does not require special technical skills, in fact it is easier done than said. However, so will follow the procedure that will allow you.

The free program CPU-Z will help us with this, showing in detail information about a computer or laptop. You can download the program from the official website of the developer at http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html (I recommend downloading the ZIP archive to run CPU-Z without installing it on your computer, located in the Download column on the left).

Extremely reduced disk access time greatly reduces your laptop's run time. This will launch the operating system and programs in a fraction of a second, as opposed to the time it takes for a hard drive. Especially if you always bring your laptop with you, flash memory is the ideal solution as it has no mechanical components and is extremely durable from a mechanical point of view. Plus, because it requires less electricity, it will also have significant benefits over the life of your battery.

After downloading, run the program and pay attention to the following tabs that will help us in the task of increasing the laptop's RAM:

In general, in most cases, just looking at the SPD tab is enough, all the necessary information on the type, frequency and number of slots is there and from it you can deduce the answer to the question of whether it is possible to increase the laptop's memory and what is needed for this.

Why is it often that our information about the maximum memory upgrade for your computer exceeds the values originally given by the manufacturer? Our most attentive customers often note that the maximum memory update information of our system does not correspond to the values specified by the manufacturer.

We intentionally corrected these positive values. In this article, you will understand what is behind this decision. Thanks to this database, we can safely determine which memory modules are suitable for a certain type of system even after several years. The fact that the maximum upgrade of the system is expected by the manufacturer depends on the following factors.

For example, from the screenshots above, we can conclude:

  • The laptop has two RAM slots.
  • One is occupied by a 4 GB DDR3 PC3-12800 module.
  • The chipset used is HM77, the maximum amount of RAM supported is 16 GB (this is searched on the Internet by chipset, laptop model or motherboard).

Thus, I can:

Great speed thanks to our know-how

The degree of integration of the integral, i.e. The number of bits per unit surface has increased at a rapid rate in recent years. Today, memory modules are available in capacities that were unthinkable until recently. Unfortunately, manufacturers do not always include high-density future integrated memory components that adapt to changes in individual system components to further improve system performance. However, in some cases, manufacturers make these mistakes deliberately, therefore differentiating different models for marketing reasons or because there were not enough memory modules available at the time the system was created. In this case, the manufacturer corrects the maximum value by decreasing it, although it would be better to change the system a bit. Most system vendors do not update the latest system data that has already been sold.

  • Buy another 4 GB RAM SO-DIMM (notebook memory) DDR3 PC12800 module and increase the laptop memory to 8 GB.
  • Buy two modules, but 8 GB each (4 will have to be removed) and increase the RAM to 16 GB.

RAM for laptop

To work in dual-channel mode (and this is preferable), two modules of the same size are required (the manufacturer may be different if, for example, we use the first option) in two slots.

Removing or installing memory

Thus, manufacturer's memory expansion capacity information is only related when the system in question was placed on the market.

Step 2: Remove the Memory

Step 4: Move the bottom case

Replace and screw in the ten screws you removed earlier, making sure they are inserted in different positions in the correct position.

Note: in some cases, CPU-Z may show 4 memory slots for laptops, in which there are actually only 2. Keep this in mind, and also the fact that almost all laptops have exactly 2 slots (except for some gaming and professional models).

How to install RAM in a laptop

In this example, we will consider the option of installing RAM in a laptop, when it was directly provided by the manufacturer - in this case, access to memory slots is facilitated, as a rule, there is a separate cover for this.

Step 2: remove the battery

  • Access to a door that protects the battery and hard drive.
  • To remove the access door, the lock must be in the open position.
While holding the lock, gently pull the tab to remove the battery.

Step 3: Remove the bottom case

Step 4: Remove memory.

Step 6: Move the bottom case

Replace lower case. Replace and tighten eight screws.

Ultrabooks and some compact laptops do not have anything like this, and the disassembly scheme may differ from model to model. Moreover, for some laptops, such an upgrade means voiding the warranty, keep this in mind.

Note: if you do not know how to install memory in your laptop, I recommend that you go to YouTube and search for the key phrase "laptop model ram upgrade" - most likely you will find a video where the whole process will be demonstrated visually.

Step 8: Move the Access Door

To change the battery, make sure the lock is in the open position. Hold the battery at an angle and slide the raised edge under the brackets on the outer edge of the case.

Move your lower body. Refer to this table for the maximum amount of memory that can be recognized by these laptops.

  1. Turn off the laptop, including from the outlet. It is also advisable to remove the battery.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the cover, you will see the memory modules installed in the slots.
  3. You can extract them or add new ones. When removing, please note that, as a rule, the memory modules are fixed on the side with latches that need to be bent.
  4. When inserting the memory, do it firmly, until the latches snap into place (on most models). All this is relatively easy.

Step 1: Remove the battery

Before installing additional memory, you must remove the battery and move it after installing the memory. The procedure below shows all the instructions required for both parts of the process.

Step 2: Remove the memory door

Step 3: Remove memory. If you need to remove the memory card, you can do so by pulling the tabs on each side of the card away from the notches on the card. The tip should be slightly raised. He lifts the memory card at an angle of about 25 degrees and carefully removes the slides from the slot.

Upon completion, return the cover to its place, turn on the laptop and check if the BIOS and Windows "see" the installed RAM.

The need to know how to increase the RAM on a laptop appears in cases where the RAM already installed on the device is not enough to run the necessary games or programs. With desktop PCs, this situation occurs much less frequently than with portable ones.

Step 5: Replace the Memory Door

Important: Store memory modules at the edges and do not touch the gold connectors.

Replace the memory door by placing it horizontally before attaching the screws. Make sure the computer recognizes the new memory. After installing additional memory, make sure the computer recognizes the new memory. To test your computer's memory.

Total memory includes the amount of memory originally shipped with the computer and the amount that was added, or if replacement, the total capacity of the new memory. In a word, this is a tank of information processed by the processor. Obviously, faster and more powerful is the key, and it's better! Notebook memory differs from desktop storage in one size.

If only because most of the characteristics of desktop and laptop models with the same cost differ markedly not in favor of the latter.

This is due to the desire of manufacturers of portable computers to keep everything as compact as possible - and this is usually enough for the average user who requires mobility, and not high performance, from the device in the first place.

The most popular are 72 and 144 pin modules. Modern memory is called synchronous because of the synchronization of the processor, which results in greater performance. To increase marketing, manufacturers began to designate speeds not by the physical clock frequency, but by more efficient ones, the frequency of the data packet. And, as already mentioned, since two physical packets are transmitted in a physical clock, the effective frequency comes out twice as much.

Naturally, different types of frames are incompatible with each other. But all too often, even the same types of memory from different manufacturers don't work correctly or don't work with each other at all. Sometimes the problem is solved simply by changing the seats, but not always. Laptop manufacturers have a practice of putting inexpensive memories in their production for the economy. This isn't much of an issue, because while they're cheap, they've passed the tests, which means they're more likely to work in the future. There can be a problem when trying to add memory, and there are times when the laptop won't start at all with the module added.

It is easy to avoid such a problem - just buy a laptop whose memory does not have to be increased for another 3-4 years. For example, such as MSI brand gaming models with 16-32 GB of memory.

True, their price will also be at least 100-150 thousand rubles, which is unlikely to suit the average user, who would rather increase the RAM of an existing computer.

The first sign that it's time to change the memory are the messages about the lack of RAM or completely non-starting games and useful programs. This is especially noticeable if the laptop model is not so old, but applications are still needed, for example, for work.

Non-opening files do not necessarily indicate that the entire device will have to be changed. There is a possibility that it will be possible to fix the problem just by adding 1-2 RAM sticks.

Moreover, some devices do not have enough memory - for example, for a quad-core processor, the manufacturer can install only 4 GB, while the board supports both 8 and 16 gigabytes.

Advice: When increasing memory, it is worth changing from 32-bit Windows to 64-bit. After that, the RAM will be completely used. If this is not done, the system will only use 3 GB of memory.

If this is not done, the system will only use 3 GB of memory. The same applies to a 32-bit processor, but since they have not been released for several years, the presence of such a component requires replacing not the memory, but the entire computer.

Memory selection

It is very important to resolve this issue in advance, since a module designed to work on a different bus or a larger volume than supported by a laptop will not work.

If the module is not changed, but added, its frequency and volume must match the parameters of the already installed one. Although the device will be able to work with different slats, it will most likely be much slower - and there will not be much benefit from such a replacement.

For example, you are unlikely to notice an increase in performance when adding another 1–2 GB module to a 4 GB module installed in one slot, although you will spend some money and time on this.

The cost of memory for laptops is currently almost the same as for a computer. However, it has a special slot size that is half the size of PC slots.

For laptops, a smaller version, SO-DIMM, is required, which should be considered when ordering RAM in an online store or in a regular outlet.

Advice: if there are no more RAM chips for your laptop on sale (for example, it supports the still outdated DDR2 type), you still need to decide whether it is worth increasing the memory, or is it better to purchase a new gadget.

Memory installation

When the memory has already been selected and purchased, they proceed to install it on a laptop. On some models like Asus, this will require removing the entire back cover and removing other elements that interfere with replacing or adding RAM.

Most often this applies to compact devices - mini-laptops and netbooks.

Most of the more modern devices allow you to replace and add a bar, spending no more than 2-3 minutes on it. To do this, you just have to:

  1. Disconnect the device from the network;
  2. Get the battery;
  3. Open the cover of the memory module compartment;
  4. Remove old microcircuits (if they change), considering that they can be held on by latches;
  5. Install new memory until the latch snaps into place;
  6. Replace the battery;
  7. Close the lid.

You can make sure that everything is done correctly after turning on Windows and checking the amount of installed RAM in the computer properties.

In the process of increasing the memory, you should make sure that your actions do not violate the warranty for the new device. In addition, if there is no back cover for quick access to RAM, you should read the instruction manual for this model.

In some Lenovo models, you even have to remove the hard drive for installation. Older laptops may require even more complex steps to access free slots. For example, sometimes one or two slats are installed in different places.

Increasing memory with a flash drive

There is also a simpler and cheaper option, how to increase the laptop's RAM - moreover, without even opening its case and without buying new modules.

All that is required from the user is a free flash drive with a capacity of 4-16 GB and installed Windows 7 or a newer version.

In principle, the same method is also suitable for a stationary PC, the memory of which is not enough for any actions, or the speed of operation is simply too low for the user's purposes.

Reasons for choosing this method

The main reasons to choose a way to increase the RAM of a laptop using a flash drive can be:

  • unwillingness to spend money on improving the configuration when replacing the device with a new one in the near future;
  • lack of physical ability to install or replace the bar (outdated module type, faulty slot, etc.);
  • the need to increase the memory this moment.

Operating principle

In the Windows 7 operating system, it is possible to increase RAM due to an additional paging file created on the drive. The utility that allows you to do this is called ReadyBoost.

And you can call it by simply opening the properties of the flash drive and selecting the tab with the appropriate name.

Using this feature of the system allows you to increase the physical memory by the following amount:

  • up to 256 GB for 64-bit Windows 7;
  • up to 32 GB for Windows 7 32-bit;
  • up to 4 GB on other operating systems, including XP, if you download the utility additionally (it is not built into the OS).

The effectiveness of the method is quite decent - when reading small files, the speed of work increases by about 5-10 times. However, when working with large areas of data, the difference will be almost imperceptible.

Memory expansion process

In order to increase the memory you will need:

  1. Take any free flash drive with an interface of at least USB 2.0. However, the best choice would be to use USB 3.0, the data transfer rate (up to 5 Gb / s) of which is comparable to the parameters of DDR3 memory modules;
  2. Insert device into USB port ;
  3. Format the flash drive (optional, but desirable) in NTFS format, which will increase the amount of possible memory from the maximum 4 GB for FAT32 to a much larger size.
  4. If there is any data on the media, uncheck the box "Cleaning the table of contents". This will increase the formatting time, but will ensure that the data that will now be used as RAM is completely deleted.

After a few minutes, a message will appear on the screen informing you that formatting is complete. And after selecting the ReadyBoost tab in the properties of the flash drive, you can configure the required amount of memory increase.

So, for example, if the storage capacity is 16 GB, the laptop can use more than 15 of them. In this case, the flash drive cannot be used to store data, and when viewing its properties, the following information will appear:

It is perfectly acceptable to use less flash drive memory. In this case, it can be used for other purposes as well.

True, before removing the device from the USB port, you should cancel ReadyBoost by opening the disk properties and the utility tab again, but selecting “Do not use this device”.

Not always such actions will speed up the work of your games and "heavy" applications. But, at least, the speed of opening photos and videos is guaranteed to increase.

According to users who have tried this technique, the browser also works faster after its application.

Unlike desktop computers, laptops are virtually indestructible. If you can sort out and replace almost everything in a PC, then in laptops only the hard drive and RAM (other names: RAM, RAM, RAM) change painlessly. To do this, turn off the charger, remove the battery (if possible) and unscrew the cover on the bottom. Before you will be available hard drive and RAM, which can be replaced. On older laptops from the early 2000s, this process can be more complicated due to the design, but since such devices are rarely used today, we will not focus on them.

Two 4GB DDR3 RAM modules

As a rule, RAM rarely fails, so they change it in order to increase the volume, and, accordingly, the speed of the laptop. Here it is worth considering several nuances.

  • 32-bit Windows operating systems do not support more than 4 GB of RAM. If you need more than 4 GB of RAM, you will need to install 64-bit Windows (you may already have it installed - open My computer and right-clicking on an empty area select Properties).
  • It is necessary to familiarize yourself with the technical characteristics of the laptop or motherboard. This will allow you to find out the amount of the maximum supported amount of RAM, the number of slots for memory modules, the type of RAM modules - DDR1, DDR2, DDR3.
  • To find out the number of memory modules already in use, you can use the CPU-Z program (download, run and see the drop-down list in the SPD tab), or you need to unscrew the bottom cover and see live the number of slots and the amount of RAM used.
  • As a rule, laptops have two slots for RAM, so if you have, for example, two 2 GB RAM modules installed, and you want 8 GB, then you will have to throw out the current memory modules, and insert two 4 GB each or one on 8 GB. You should also keep in mind such a factor as RAM soldered into the motherboard. This is typical for ultrabooks and MacBooks. And here there are options - the entire bar will be soldered without the possibility of increasing the volume, or one free slot for your RAM bar will be available.

How to replace RAM in a laptop

A warning! If you recently bought a laptop from a store and it is still under warranty, then opening the cover on the bottom and replacing the RAM may void the warranty. To maintain the warranty, you will have to contact authorized service centers.

Based on the above, we conclude that in order to replace the RAM in a laptop, you need to find out the characteristics of the motherboard, unscrew the bottom cover and see what is already installed in the laptop and what can be improved. Then we buy RAM modules of the appropriate type, turn off the power, remove the battery and change the RAM modules themselves.

To get the installed strips out of the slots, you need to snap off the latches on the sides and calmly get it, holding the strips on the sides, without touching the gold-plated contacts inserted into the slot. It should also be easy to insert new slats into the slot, when the latches snap into place, stop pressing and just check that the slats are level.

After replacing the modules, we collect everything back and turn on the laptop. To make sure everything is fine, run the CPU-Z utility again, or open My computer, right-click on a free area and select Properties. In the window that opens, in the section System opposite the item Installed memory (RAM) look at the available memory.

There is nothing complicated in replacing laptop components on your own, but if you are still not confident in your abilities, you can watch the following video from the company, which shows how elementary everything is.

Instruction

Find out from the instruction manual where exactly the RAM modules are located on the machine. They can be either under or under the lid located at the bottom. On some machines, some of the modules are located under the keyboard, and the other is under the cover.

To remove the keyboard, close the computer (after making sure that there are no objects between the keyboard and the screen that can crush the latter!), Then remove the hinge covers. Then open it, remove the bezel located above the indicators, and gently lift the keyboard up. Do not disconnect the loop located below. Do not move the computer with the keyboard raised to avoid tearing off the cable. Do not close while this assembly is disassembled.

Remove the cover on the reverse side by unscrewing one or two screws with a standard screwdriver. Do this only with the keyboard assembly assembled and closed. If it is necessary to change the RAM modules both under the cover and under the keyboard, first assemble after the previous procedure.

To remove the memory module, slightly pull in different directions on the metal latches located on the sides of it. One of its sides will lift up and you can easily remove it. Memorize or draw how it was installed.

Take the module with you to the store or to the market to buy a second one of the same type (if there are free slots), or exchange it for an extra charge for another one with a larger volume.

To install the module, insert its contacts into the slot recess, taking into account the location of the key, and then press it from the opposite side until it clicks.

Assemble the laptop in reverse order, connect the peripherals and the power supply. Check if it works. Use the Memtest86+ program to make sure that the amount of memory has actually increased, and that the new module does not contain bad cells.
