Kinesthetic stress. Kinesthetics are people of movement. Or is the concept broader? The role of types of perception in conflicts

Hello, dear readers of the blog site. We all perceive the world through sensations (we look, hear, feel, comprehend), but each individual person has a preferred channel of perception.

In psychology, people are divided according to the type of their perception into four main groups: visual (sight prevails), auditory (sounds are important), kinesthetic (appreciate tactile sensations) and digital (mind prevails).

Moreover, the main method of perception also affects the character of this person. Therefore, understanding who is in front of you, you will be able to establish contact with him much easier.

Today I want to talk in detail about kinesthetics, since such people stand out from the crowd and are “atypical”.

Auditory, visual, digital and kinesthetic

Each person is an individual person who perceives the outside world differently.

  1. Someone listens to every word, timbre of voice, and perceives information better by ear. This audio.
  2. Some people focus on color, shape, appearance. Such people are called visuals.
  3. Digital is a person who primarily perceives the world through logical thinking, paying less attention to perception through analyzers (eyes, ears, hands).
  4. Kinesthetic is a person who perceives the world by touch, tactilely.

In addition to the specifics of the main channel through which information is received, auditory, visual and kinesthetic learners differ from each other, for example, in the method of learning that must be used for an effective result, and in their manner of behavior.

A kinesthetic person is a person who...

Auditory, visual, kinesthetic – these groups of people are not accurate and exclusive when it is impossible to find). Each of us perceives the world with different analyzers. Just one of the channels more clearly expressed and prevails over others.

Therefore, according to some characteristics it is possible classify a person as a kinesthetic person to a greater extent than to other groups. To understand this, you need to look at the behavior of this person:

Kinesthetics depending on gender

Let's start with women kinesthetics. Spa salons are rich in clients of this particular type of perception. Women love massages and jacuzzi baths. They also enjoy going to the hairdresser.

There they comb the hair, dye it, dry it, and apply dye or mousse with light rubbing. Therefore, such girls look good because of their love of touch: well-groomed hair and body.

Men love such women very much because they are always affectionate in relationships. They love to hug, kiss, and massage their partner's back. They act very romantic. But at the same time, she will not walk in large stiletto heels if low-soled shoes are more comfortable for her. She will not throw away an old warm sweater, even if there are a lot of new clothes in the closet.

Kinesthetic man- this is a person for whom the appearance (visual) appearance of a woman is not important. When he chooses a partner, she simply must have the shape of a body, along the contour of which it is pleasant to run his hand. The skin should be soft and velvety and smell good.

Such a man always takes care of his hair, carefully trims his nails, and can often be found in a massage parlour. But at the same time, just like the girls of this perception group, he can wear comfortable, but not new (uncomfortable) clothes. He is often a silent partner who will do most of the talking through touch.

A kinesthetic child: how does this manifest itself in childhood?

Kinesthetics is a skill that has been established since childhood. Every child begins to explore the world by touching, squeezing objects, and tasting toys. Therefore, a person who truly belongs to this group can be recognized back in 2-3 grade.

Such a child retains the desire to touch a toy or any other object. He likes to show something rather than talk about it. When playing with others, he pulls girls' hair, hugs friends, and kisses them on the cheek.

The kinesthetic student can’t wait to see the model in science class and tries to study it himself. True, at this age it can be difficult to distinguish: either the child really has this type of perception of the world, or these are manifestations of attention deficit disorder. Since both children show themselves to be very active and restless.

If such a child is slouching, then you are unlikely to be able to convince him to straighten his posture. Even if you give him a lot of facts why it is harmful to health. Or show from the outside how ugly it is. The child doesn't care. The main thing is that he is so comfortable sit.

Kinesthetic children They love to experiment with their body. Therefore, they try to write with their right hand, then with their left. They love going to different clubs. For example, for dancing, figure skating, gymnastics, karate.

In order for such a child help you understand your studies better:

  1. suggest making diagrams or layouts for lessons - this will concentrate attention and provide a visual representation of the information;
  2. learn poetry or theory with him while he does physical exercises;
  3. do not stop him if he is running, but at the same time solving a problem in his head - the child has his own approach;
  4. send them to a school with a sports focus, since physical education is an activity in which such children feel like fish in water;
  5. If this is not possible, then be sure to sign up for some section in which you need to move a lot and feel your body.

How to deal with kinesthetic learners?

A kinesthetic person is a person who no need for perfect order. Therefore, you should not scold him for this, but simply perceive him as he is.

A bitten pie on the table next to crumpled pieces of paper is normal for him. You can calmly ask him to clean it up or do it for him, and the kinesthetic person will then sincerely thank him with a tight hug.

If he works, he can do it standing at the computer. Or he may walk between desks at work when he is thinking about something. A manager should not stop such behavior, as this contributes to his greater efficiency and performance.

Does your loved one dress sloppily, in old clothes? Don’t worry, it’s so comfortable for him and this is the most important thing - for him to feel good. You can calmly try together choose new comfortable clothes for him that will not restrict movement, will be made of fabrics that are pleasant to the touch, and will not form wrinkles.

Is the child slouching? You will not be able to force him to level out with any explanations, threats or screams. It is better to send him to the sports section, where the spine will straighten itself and the child will have to maintain his posture. In addition, during classes he will release all his energy and come home calm and balanced.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site

Do you know that by understanding your type of perception (who you are: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, digital) you can increase the quality and speed of your learning and be able to convey your thoughts to a person with high accuracy? How to determine the types of information perception and how to use this knowledge in communication and learning will be discussed in detail in this article.

A ten-year-old child who was considered completely incapable of learning was brought to a wise teacher. Parents complained that no matter how hard they tried, they could not teach their son the simplest arithmetic. No matter how hard they tried to fold sticks, apples, or point with their fingers, nothing came out. He couldn't learn to add and subtract. The teacher talked to the boy for a few minutes. Then he asked his parents to sit aside while he taught their boy to count. Then the teacher asked the boy to stand up and jump over the pebbles. At first the boy simply jumped over the stones. Then the teacher said: “Look, do one jump, then a second, and then jump twice more. How many times did you jump in total?” And suddenly the boy answered - 4. Then the boy jumped and counted even more, in one day he mastered arithmetic, which ordinary children master in six months. The parents sat with their mouths open.

Why was this possible? The teacher was wise. He understood that this boy needed to be taught a lesson so that he managed to perceive. He didn’t just hear, but perceived it in the way that was most understandable to him.

Today we will talk about what types of perception there are, and how understanding the types of perception of information helps in relationships and learning. And also about how to determine your type of perception.

In the simplest approximation, there are four types of information perception: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, digital.

Channels of perception: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, digital

A person perceives information through the main five channels: visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory, olfactory. And after perception, the information is processed in our head, and the interesting thing is that it is processed on the basis one dominant system.

There are four main types of sensory systems:

  • Visual. When the visual information processing system is dominant: shape, location, color.
  • Auditory. The auditory information processing system is dominant: sounds, melodies, their tone, volume, timbre, purity
  • Kinesthetic. Sensory information is dominant: touch, taste, smell, sensation of textures, temperature
  • Digital. Associated with the logical construction of internal dialogue.

One should not think that the dominance of one means the weakness of the other. Just one of the systems most often is the starting, leading. It is the leading system that launches the thinking process and becomes the impetus for other mental processes: memory, representation, imagination.

For example, you are told, “Imagine the soft fur of a cat.” In order to visualize fur, you must first imagine a cat, and only then remember how soft its fur is. The auditory person first imagines the sounds of a cat (purring, meowing), and then can remember other sensations. The kinaesthetic sense immediately senses the touch of fur, and only then the visual image. Digital needs to say cat to himself and, after internal speech, imagine the image of a cat and fur.

Each of us sees the image of a cat in our heads, but for some it pops up immediately, and for others through their dominant system. The trigger system helps quickly translate stimulus into images in our brain. That is why understanding your leading system allows you to individually and accurately create the principle of perception and memorization of any information.

How to determine the types of information perception? Test to determine the type of perception

There are several ways to determine your type of perception and find out who you are: auditory, visual, kinesthetic, digital. Let's look at a few.

1. Self-observation. Look, what do you use most often during mental activity? How are your thoughts organized? Vivid pictures and images (visual), sensations (kinesthete), sounds and intonations (auditory), inner speech, logical connections, meanings (digital).

2. Below is a small list of words. After reading, try to understand what was the first thing that came to your mind, with what element did the idea begin? And what happened later?

  • Soft touch velvet
  • Musician playing violin
  • Medicine
  • Airplane taking off

If the first thing your idea started with is a picture, an image, then most likely you are a visual person. If the image began with sounds, and only then pictures were presented, then you are an auditory learner. If you needed to physically imagine how objects are located or you quickly developed bodily sensations - kinesthetic, and if you needed to say a word to make it appear - digital.

3. Take a short psychological test according to the method " Diagnostics of the dominant perceptual modality S. Efremtseva»

You can download it directly and, by answering the questions, determine your type of perception. Verification test: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, digital

4. Observe yourself and notice Which type of short-term memory Is yours most developed? What do you grasp quickly and easily: pictures, sounds, sensations, logical connections? What is easier for you to remember?

5. People of each type of perception use certain phrases in their speech and expressions specific to their leading, triggering system. However, I do not recommend relying on this particular test to determine what type you are. It can give an error in a number of cases when a person has accustomed himself to communicate in a certain way, use this method only as a complement to the above methods.

How can you determine who you are: visual, auditory, kinaesthetic or digital by speech?

Carefully monitor your speech and write down exactly the phrases that you use to indicate your opinion and your actions. Most often, a person of a particular type of perception uses phrases characteristic of this modality.

Visual

Uses words and phrases associated with visual actions: I didn't see, I saw, I noticed, I think it was colorful and great, it looks, focus, contrast, perspective, you see.

Audial

Phrases with auditory phrases: I can’t understand what you’re saying; didn't hear; I heard it; I recently heard; glad to hear from you; I heard it; the idea sounds tempting.

Kinesthetic

This type of perception is characterized by phrases that show them emotional and bodily responses: I can't stand it; it's disgusting; it is so sweet; goosebumps; so pleasantly warm; it was a powerful experience. Often their nonverbal signs are very indicative; facial expressions and gestures are telling and reflect the state and emotions of a person, even if there are not many nonverbal signs themselves.

Digital

Digitals are paying attention on logic and connections. A specific set of words is not typical for them: phrases of auditory and kinesthetic types may appear. Digital people often ask: what is the point of this; I don’t understand how this is connected; I would like to bring everything into a system; we need to streamline this somehow. However, such expressions are typical of most types with a good sense of organization. Therefore, identifying digital from speech must be done with great care.

Each type has its own characteristics that affect its perception of surrounding information, any educational processes, and interaction with other people. Let us analyze the characteristics of people of different types of perception.

Visual, auditory, kinesthetic, digital in the learning process

If you study a lot, go to courses, trainings, read, then understanding your own type of perception will help you organize your own learning process with maximum benefit.

Visuals

The basis of their learning is visual information. For visual people, hearing and vision form a single whole, therefore, if such a person only heard the material (but did not see), then with a high degree of probability the information will be quickly forgotten. Visual learners instantly absorb all visual information, so it is most beneficial to use all methods and techniques for visually presenting the material:

  • mind maps
  • scheme
  • graphics
  • illustrations
  • photos
  • demonstration models
  • experiments, experiments

Visual learners learn best through visual examples, where they see the material they are learning in real time. Primary memory is visual. They remember well the location of objects, paths, roads, and are well oriented in space. Some noise is not critical for a visual learner; he can concentrate in an environment of some noise and successfully study the material.

Visual learners perceive text information well and are able to quickly learn speed reading.

Audial

Uses the auditory perception channel as a trigger. Inner speech is moderately developed. They perceive lectures, music, conversations, and dialogues well. They clearly and effectively maintain the line of conversation and conversation; often it is during the conversation that they grasp the meaning of the material being studied. Silence is necessary when concentrating. If you are an auditory learner, then be sure to listen to lecture material and audio courses. Learn together with others, discussing the topic being studied, thinking out loud about the problem.

Kinesthetic

Receives information through actions and movements. He remembers any actions and practical exercises well. He perceives all information best through practical exercises and experiments, where he tests the information received with his own hands in practice. Information of a practical nature is especially well perceived: what moves and how, where to click.

It is important for kinaesthetic learners to feel, touch, smell, taste and fully experience the subject being studied. People of this type are very active, love and enjoy working. And they don’t like inaction. It is for kinesthetic learners that the saying “Movement is life” has a special meaning. It is very difficult for kinaesthetic people to maintain focus, they are easily distracted, it is difficult for them to sit still for a long time, or to do routine work.

Digital

They are well trained in all sciences that have strict logic and consistency: mathematics, physics, mechanics, technology. Such people often work in areas where there is a lot of research, mathematical and static processing, and programming. The main thing for digital is to understand the logic and connections in the material, to organize what is being studied into a system with clear cause-and-effect relationships. Therefore, during your studies, try to build the logic of the entire topic being studied. For this you can use:

Visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, digital in communication

Visuals

“You meet people by their clothes...” the beginning of this famous proverb applies entirely to visual people. They attach significant importance to a person’s appearance and always pay attention to how a person looks, what clothes he is wearing, what facial features he has, how he moves.

When communicating, they can look into the eyes calmly and for a long time. Visual contact, inverted posture in communication, open postures are extremely important for the visual person. At the same time, they do not like to be close to their interlocutor and keep their distance. The main thing is to see well. Representatives of this type of perception quickly intuitively read the signals of body language and facial expressions, often without noticing it. Sometimes it seems to them that just by looking at them they know the thoughts of another person.

If you need to impress a visual person, try to pay the most attention to external beauty. The environment, your clothes, gait, facial expressions, and gestures should be as inviting as possible. To prove your words, provide clear examples, graphs, drawings, and be sure to demonstrate your arguments using samples and experiments. Show a picture instead of numbers: visual learners will have difficulty understanding the difference between 1000 and 10,000, but a visual example of the difference will convince them in most cases.

Visual artists themselves are good storytellers. They can imagine amazingly vivid and detailed pictures and talk about them for hours.

Audial

A conversation with an auditory student is often very pleasant. Auditory learners themselves are demanding of their speech; they speak measuredly, with competent changes in intonation. It’s nice to listen to them, it’s nice to talk to the auditory. But auditory learners themselves are very demanding of the speech of their interlocutors; they cannot tolerate errors in speech, incomprehensible and distorted speech. It is absolutely forbidden to shout or raise your voice at auditory learners; this will lead to alienation of the person. Audials are always a pleasure to listen to; they are wonderful storytellers and no less wonderful interlocutors, who can understand at a glance by their intonation and manner of speech.

Kinesthetic

Kinesthetic learners are especially sensitive to spatial surroundings and distances between interlocutors. Close people are allowed into the personal zone, but people they don’t know well are kept at a distance. For kinesthetes, an invasion of their personal zone is offensive, and they begin to experience strong negative emotions. It is best to gain the attention and trust of the kinaesthetic through actions, joint affairs, and common activities.

If you have to remember something, it is better to write it or draw it yourself. Conversations and verbal evidence will make the least impression on a person of this type of perception. And the kinaesthetic always strives to touch and stroke close people. Physical contact is important to him.

Digital

They are insensitive in communication and rarely show emotions in public. Particular attention is paid to the semantic, substantive part of the conversation. Beautiful but empty speech is unpleasant to them. With digital, it is best to get to the point in a conversation, proving the logic and correctness of your words with numbers and facts.

Features of each type of perception

Visuals

The peculiarity of this type of people is that they are receptive to what is visible. They appreciate beauty in the surrounding space and do not tolerate disorder or dirt well. In the life of a visual person there are many ideas, dreams, dreams. They are often generators of ideas, since they can create completely unusual associations and connections in their imagination.

Audial

They perceive the world around them, paying especially close attention to sounds. They love music, melodies, and can often hum to themselves and hum songs. Sensitive and receptive to conversations, auditory people have acute hearing and good memory, especially auditory memory. They often choose as their occupation everything related to music, melodies, and oratory.

Kinesthetic

Kinesthetics are very sensitive to everything that happens around them. Their bodily and emotional sensations are closely intertwined. They love bodily comfort, the convenience of the surrounding space. Uncomfortable clothing or a thread tickling their neck can irritate a kinaesthete student. They love deep personal discussions, communication with emotional exchange, discussion of how others feel. For the kinesthete, touch has the deepest meaning and great value.

Digital

People of this type of perception are rarer. They tend to perceive the world around them through inner speech, through dialogue with themselves. Such people are primarily focused on the perception of meaning, logic, and consistency. Digital people always strive to understand and comprehend the essence of what is happening. They may be sensitive and vulnerable, but the world is interesting to them from the point of view of understanding meaning and logic, patterns. In a stressful situation, it is digitals that best maintain composure and calm, and can maintain clarity of thought and perception of the surrounding space.

Strictly speaking, the distribution of people into visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and digital types is very simplified. In fact, each of these types can be mixed, or maybe with a different leading hemispheric system, which increases the number of options. But we'll talk about this later.

Of course, in each of us there is no pure one type of perception, sometimes they are mixed, sometimes the type of perception is different in a calm and emergency environment, in different situations. But understanding your leading system will allow you to better assimilate any information, understand your interlocutor and better convey your thoughts to him. Understanding your type of perception (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, digital) will allow you to understand how to study specifically for you, taking into account your individual characteristics.

Each individual person evaluates the world based on his own feelings. In psychology, it is customary to distinguish four types of perception characteristic of people. These include: visual, auditory, kinesthetic and digital. Each type has its own characteristics and characteristics.

General information about types of perception

Dividing people into visual, auditory, kinesthetic and digital in accordance with the basics of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) allows us to identify their dominant sense organ. At the same time, one predominant sensory perception of the world in a person does not mean suppression of others. People typically have four channels through which they experience the world:

  1. Visual. With it, a person has a predominantly developed visual system for perceiving the surrounding reality. Color and shape matter to him.
  2. Auditory. The organ of hearing and the corresponding perception of the world through sounds, timbres, melodies, and volume dominate.
  3. Kinesthetic. The tactile function predominates. It is easier for a person to recognize this or that object by smell, taste, touch.
  4. Digital. The logical perception of the world dominates through the construction of an internal dialogue by a person.

The leading channel of a person’s worldview of information allows one to intensify mental activity. Thanks to it, other processes are launched in the form of memory and imagination.

There are several methods for identifying visual, auditory, kinesthetic and digital learners. The main thing is the diagnosis of the predominant modality through testing developed by S. Efremtsev. The test is available online for Internet users who want to find out their dominant type of perception.

Characteristics of auditory, visual, kinesthetic and digital learners include:

  • the dominant organ involved in a person’s perception of the surrounding world;
  • the influence of the leading channel of perception on character;
  • correlation of the type of perception with a person’s personality type;
  • a set of differences between one form of human assessment of the surrounding reality and others.

Characteristics of visuals

Auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and digital learners differ from each other in character, method of communication, and external signs. A feature of visual people is their perception of the world through visual images. Their dominant sense organ is their eyes. At the same time, other forms of assessing the world are no less developed in such people, but it is easier and more convenient for them to process incoming information through vision.

You can identify a visual person by their characteristic facial expressions. It serves as its distinctive feature. Much is determined by a person’s gaze:

  • directed upward and to the left when trying to remember any information;
  • up and to the right when fantasizing;
  • straight and into the distance during mental activity.

These signs are typical for people with a predominant visual channel of worldview. By the look of a visual person, you can determine whether he is telling the truth or lying.

Interesting! A visual learner who is trying to tell a lie looks up and to the right when asked a specific question.

Visuals are characterized by the following features:

  • perception of information through images;
  • pronounced gestures;
  • using the words “see”, “notice”, “it seems to me”, “take a look”, “look” when speaking;
  • perception during the learning process only of visual information in the form of graphs, diagrams, drawings, photographs, experiments;
  • paying attention to the appearance of other people, their facial expressions, gestures, postures;
  • good imagination.

For a visual person, appearance is important. He is receptive to everything he sees. Such people appreciate the beauty of the world and its individual objects. They do not like dirt, sloppiness and disorder. If a child is a visual learner, then during the learning process he will better assimilate information presented to him in schematic and illustrated form.

People of this type master speed reading faster than others and perceive information better in the form of text. Visual learners are also characterized by visual memory. They remember the location of objects better than others and are well oriented in the area.

Visualists prefer to keep their distance when talking to other people. A comfort zone is important to them. Moreover, the distance between them and their interlocutors should be at least one meter. The gaze of visuals wanders and is in search. To successfully complete their tasks, such people need clear diagrams, visual pictures and images.

Characteristics of auditory people

For this type of perception, information received through the organs of hearing is of particular importance. An auditory learner can be called a person who better assimilates material read aloud. This is especially important for schoolchildren. Auditory children remember well only information that was presented to them by the teacher orally.

The following characteristics are characteristic of audio:

  • the use of “auditory” phrases in speech (“I heard”, “I can’t understand”, “tell me”, “I heard it”, “listen to me”);
  • good perception of music, conversations;
  • good hearing;
  • the need for complete silence when concentrating on something;
  • high demands on both one’s own and others’ speech;
  • great love for music;
  • sensitivity to conversations;
  • good auditory memory.

Attention! When talking to an auditory learner, it is important not to raise your tone or shout, as this will make him or her dislike your interlocutor.

People of this type are considered good storytellers. They prefer to discuss any issue with others. This way they learn any material better. Auditory learners are more focused on communication than others. This is one of the most sociable types of people.

Auditory learners are worse than others at remembering people's faces and are not always well oriented in space. But they recognize a person by his voice better than others. You can identify such people by their gaze. For them it is usually directed either to the right or to the left.

Auditory learners are less prone to conflicts than others and more often prefer not to raise their voices. Their speech is usually even, and their speech is measured and calm. A common profession among auditory learners is musician. Given their sociability and ability to conduct a conversation, such people achieve success in work related to public speaking.

For the auditory, only a specific fact without unnecessary details matters. It is important for him to have contact with a person who has a pleasant timbre of voice for him. They pay less attention to people's appearance, being guided mainly by auditory sensations.

Description of kinesthetic

Such a person can be identified by a number of signs:

  • frequent use of words with a pronounced emotional connotation (“excited”, “goosebumps”, “I’m delighted”);
  • frequent touching of the interlocutor;
  • close distance with a person when talking;
  • restlessness;
  • emotionality;
  • better assimilation of information through movement and touch.

A kinesthetic learner understands the world well through personal experience. He prefers practice to theory. At the same time, it is important for him to take direct part in the process. People of this type are more focused on taste and smell than others. It is important for them to personally touch or try the item in order to draw the necessary conclusions.

Kinesthetic learners are active people. They can be given a precise definition. These are workaholics who do not tolerate inaction. Kinesthetic people do not have good attention; they have difficulty concentrating on anything for a long time. For this reason, they do not like routine and monotonous work.

Kinesthetics have a special psychological portrait. Despite the desire of such people to be at a minimum distance from the interlocutor during a conversation, they are selective in communication. A kinesthetic person can only let someone close to him who has won his trust.

Interesting! For a kinesthetic learner, the violation of his personal space by a stranger is especially offensive. This cannot pass without a trace for him.

Like visual people, people of this type do not perceive oral information well. It is easier for them to explore the world through visual data and through personal contact. For a kinesthetic learner, it is physical contact with a loved one that is important. Comfort has a major impact on it. Any inconvenience provokes severe irritation in the kinesthetic student. Such people love conversations related to feelings and sensations. Emotional exchange with the interlocutor is important for them.

Features of digital

Auditory, visual, and kinesthetic are not the only types of people depending on their perception of the world. There is a fourth type, called digitals. You can distinguish such people from others by the following characteristics:

  • guiding logic and thinking through actions;
  • clear planning of activities;
  • minimal expression of feelings during communication;
  • weak emotions;
  • desire for meaningful conversations and rejection of empty topics for them;
  • high self-control and calm under stress.

It is more difficult to identify a digital person among other people just by the words he uses during a conversation. It is simultaneously characterized by some visual and auditory characteristics.

Digital and kinesthetic learners have different approaches to perceiving the world. The first tries to understand the essence of events and actions through logical diagrams, the second through sensory experience.

The percentage of digital natives remains low compared to other types of people. This is a rare kind of perception. A child who is a digital native prefers exact sciences and achieves success in studying them. He tends to plan the educational process and is disciplined.

Good afternoon, readers of my blog! This morning I remember one event. While in a textile store, I had the pleasure of seeing kinesthetics in action. Among the many visitors who simply looked, compared prices and discussed, one girl felt, stroked and pressed each fabric to her face. Her reaction showed which material was pleasant and which was not. When she liked the sensations, she lingered near the fabric much longer than the others.

Perhaps from the outside it looked strange. But not for me. As a psychologist, I know that people can perceive the world in different ways. The girl I saw today is a pronounced kinesthetic person, a person who receives information through tactile sensations.

Why is that?

There are a huge number of classifications in psychology. One of them is based on the preferred way of perceiving and receiving information from the outside world. For these purposes, a person can use one or more sensory systems: visual, auditory, gustatory, olfactory or tactile.

This is described perfectly by Cian Beilock in the book “ Brain and body. How sensations affect our feelings and emotions”.

Accordingly, depending on the choice (unconscious, but from birth), a person may belong to one of the psychotypes. There are 3 main types: visual, auditory, kinesthetic.

For visual learners, what is important is what they perceive through their visual apparatus. These are typical aesthetes. For them, it is not comfort or practicality that is important, but beauty. They prefer beautiful and stylish clothes, order in the apartment, and always walk with a proud posture.

Auditory learners direct all their attention to sounds. They pay attention to intonation, but may ignore the essence and appearance of the interlocutor. Their distinguishing feature is their delicate musical taste. To be honest, I personally have not encountered this psychotype yet, since it is the rarest.

Kinesthetics give preference to sensations. For them, this is not a luxury and a rare pleasure, as for other people, for them it is part of life, the main way of reacting to the world.

Do you know which human organ, the largest in area, has many receptors for various accommodations? Leather. Receptors located in the epidermis distinguish between cold and heat, pain, pressure, and gentle touch.

Probably, men and women who have these receptors well developed from birth become kinesthetic. Thus, all emotional or not very situations will be associated with what he felt while being near the person.

Features of development

For such people, love is expressed through touch. This starts from childhood. A kinesthetic child reaches out with his little hands, touches everything, puts it in his mouth. Here we could draw an analogy with ordinary children, but these are not all the features. The baby quickly makes friends, loves to hug his brothers and sisters, and willingly goes into the arms of strangers. Requires attention and body warmth from parents. If this is not given to him, resentment arises, and parents can often make the child guilty; how to prevent this, read in my.

Given the activity, adults will have to keep a close eye on him. After all, the child will acquire all knowledge solely from his own experience. Starting from the harmless taste of salt, the phlegm of water and to the fact that putting a plug into a socket will give you an electric shock.

During puberty, problems with kinesthetics can arise, especially in the school system. After all, there knowledge is obtained by retelling information: visual, auditory, and experiments are carried out rarely and only on certain subjects. outside of school will help you shift your attention and feel in your own environment. It may not be easy, but it is quite doable.

Having matured, kinesthetic learners do not change their preferences, but they become more tolerant and diligent, if necessary, analyze information visually or auditorily. An integral element of their life is a warm bath after a working day, a delicious lunch, and a soft bed.

Their motto is “Comfort in everything.” They will never be able to fall asleep on crumbs, rather they will toss and turn all night. And putting on high-heeled shoes for a girl is like the feat of Hercules, which is only possible in an emergency situation. Just like a guy should put on a tight tuxedo and wear it all day.

Kinesthetic people are frequent visitors to baths, massage rooms, gyms, spas, and swimming pools. They take care of cleanliness, but not because of appearance, but for reasons of caring for their body.

They have a well-developed sense of smell and taste analyzers. Therefore, the professions of a taster and textile expert are not uncommon. Although they also make excellent massage therapists, dancers, builders, florists, trainers, actors, designers (if we are talking about a practical situation and not web modeling).

Everyday manifestations that show kinesthetic skills:

  1. Physical intimacy. And we are not talking about harassment or flirting, an aggressive attack. A person may be carried away by a conversation, but touching or being close to him enhances the effect of words and emotionally colors everything. Also, if you need to force a kinesthetic student to pay attention to something, you can touch his hand, this will cheer him up.
  2. Chaos in the apartment. This is where the visual types will faint (just kidding)! Kinesthetic learners may live in chaos, but they will always know where everything is and why it is more convenient for them.
  3. Detachment. Withdrawal into oneself is associated with the actualization of one’s own experiences and experienced sensations. If you really need to discuss something in order to attract the attention of your interlocutor.
  4. Action without words. I wrote above about activity. So, having matured, a person retains the tendency to act. Sometimes spontaneous. Long-term weighing and reasoning are not his thing; he would prefer to redo it later or make a mistake rather than delay the implementation of an idea.
  5. Appearance. The body type can be any, but the movements have a smooth, alluring appearance, since these people have good control of their body. Posture may not be monitored because it is not convenient. They prefer clothing that does not restrict movement. It may be wrinkled and not ironed, but clean.

Contact with others

With other types of people, kinesthetics can be difficult. Sometimes problems arise already at the dating stage, when the desire to touch is misinterpreted. Maximum compatibility is with those who have a mixed type, including some manifestations of kinesthetics.

In close relationships you will have to stock up on a huge amount of patience. After all, love will manifest itself in delicious food, kisses and caresses, and spending time together. Kinesthetic people are more likely to notice the roughness of the skin, the softness of the hair or a new pimple than a new car tuning or haircut - this is not for them. Therefore, it is better to report this yourself, rather than wait for them to notice.

Despite their love of touch, people of this type are picky. They will not allow strangers or those they do not trust to come within close range. This is the prerogative of loved ones. Invasion of personal space can be perceived quite aggressively. Therefore, before using kinesthetic receptors, it is better.

In general, most conflicts can be leveled out if you know the characteristics of each person and proceed from his needs.
