Where to put old tires? Reception of old tires. Tire recycling plant. Tire recycling as a business Where to take old car tires

The issue of tire recycling in Russia is quite acute. For the natural decomposition of waste of this category, it takes from 120 to 140 years, and the volumes that go to landfills, and often to places of unauthorized waste storage, are simply huge. Meanwhile, it is a sought-after raw material for many industries (road surfaces, as a filler, a regenerator for new rubber products ...), which opens up broad prospects for the development of a profitable business.

In contrast to European countries, there are few global tire recycling companies in the domestic market. Accordingly, do not expect high competition. At the same time, the development of the industry is hampered by a high barrier to entry to the market, which is about 20 million rubles, as well as the lack of a centralized state policy regarding waste management. However, the legislation is gradually being improved, which means that those who are ready to combine environmental values and the opportunity to receive a stable income should pay attention to this type of business.

Market situation

World stocks of waste tires are about 80 million tons. Every year this number increases by 10 million tons. And even in countries where work on competent tire recycling has been going on for a long time, they cannot cope with the existing volumes.

As for Russia, only 20% of the total share of the relevant raw materials goes to processing. Moreover, 60% of this amount is distributed among themselves by four large enterprises:

  • Volzhsky Regenerate Tire Repair Plant (Volgograd Region);
  • Chekhov regeneration plant (Moscow region);
  • "KST-ecology" (Smolensk region);
  • Tire recycling plant No. 1 (Vladimir region).

One of the reasons for this state of affairs is the fact that most enterprises, both large and small, accept tires for recycling without partial compensation for their cost. Accordingly, it is more profitable for the population to simply take garbage to a landfill than to deliver it for processing at their own expense.

Thus, a novice entrepreneur has three ways to develop his business: follow the “traditions” of free raw materials, determine an economically justified acceptance price, or enter into agreements with landfills, service stations and other “suppliers” who would benefit from the removal of used tires from the territory. In the latter case, you can try to enlist the support of the municipality or environmentalists.

What recyclable materials can be obtained from tires?

The most common recycling technology involves the mechanical grinding of tires in special units. During this process, the following materials are formed:

  • rubber crumb with a fraction size of 1 mm, 2-3 mm, 4-5 mm (each of them has its own scope);
  • textile cord, suitable, after processing by pyrolysis technology, for the manufacture of fuels and lubricants;
  • metal cord intended for remelting.

In developed countries, it is common to rebuild worn tires for their intended use. It provides for the imposition of a new profile on the old frame.

Processing technology

The process of recycling tires into crumbs involves a number of successive stages:

  • Quality control of incoming tires. Products are carefully inspected for the presence of spikes and other elements that are not suitable for processing.
  • Pre-grinding. Tires are cut into segments 200x200 mm in size.
  • Removal of the metal fraction. The raw material is conveyed through the conveyor to the shredder for the next stage of grinding. In parallel, using a magnetic device, the bead wire and other metal elements are removed from the mass.
  • Grinding to the final fraction. In the impact crusher, the material is brought to a predetermined fraction value, and is also cleaned from the metal cord.
  • Separation. In the separator, the textile cord and the remains of the metal cord are removed from the mass.
  • Sorting by fractions. It is carried out by passing the material through a system of vibrating screens.
  • Packing and warehousing. The material is packed in bags and sent to the warehouse.

Tire crumb recycling equipment + Video

The universal line contains the following components:

  • knife for cutting car tires;
  • band conveyer;
  • shredders for primary grinding (2 pcs.);
  • small cyclones (2 pcs.);
  • fan (3 pcs.);
  • pneumatic conveyor;
  • units for magnetic separation (3 pcs.);
  • crusher;
  • vibrating screens (2 pcs.);
  • large cyclones;
  • electrical equipment;
  • a vacuum cleaner;
  • cord belt conveyor;
  • metal carcass.

You can usually buy such a line within 12-15 million rubles. Also, to launch the plant, it is necessary to purchase industrial scales (20 thousand rubles), a unit for packing bags (10 thousand rubles) and the bags themselves (10 thousand rubles), tools and consumables for servicing the installation (30 thousand rubles). .).

Another about 100 thousand rubles. it is necessary to pledge for the delivery of equipment and about 150 thousand rubles. for its installation and commissioning. At the same time, transportation costs will depend on the remoteness of the region from the manufacturing plant. The procedure for commissioning, the conditions for warranty and post-warranty service, as well as other points are prescribed in the supply contract. It is optimal when, among other things, the supplier gives an obligation to train your staff to work with the units.

Line example:

Requirements for the arrangement of the workshop and warehouse space

The plant for processing tires into crumbs must directly contain a production workshop with an area of at least 200 m², a site for storing raw materials in the form of an unheated hangar or simply a fenced area, as well as a warehouse for finished products. Sanitary facilities are also required. The office part is equipped depending on the preferences and financial capabilities of the business owner.

The premises can be purchased or rented. Often the first option is unrealistic for a novice entrepreneur, so a lease agreement becomes the best solution. Its cost directly depends on the region, and in Russia it can range from 20 thousand to 100 thousand rubles per month.

Staff

A minimum of 10 people will be required to service the line with a processing capacity of 150 tons of tires per month. At the same time, it is important to have a technologist in the team who is able to control the production process and a person who will be engaged in the ongoing maintenance of the lines. It is rational to involve representatives of the equipment manufacturer for the elimination of significant breakdowns and maintenance. For this, as mentioned above, this clause should be written in the contract.

Also, for the quality work of the enterprise, an accountant, cleaners, security officers and at least one truck driver delivering tires and finished products will be required.

In this situation, the approximate amount of the payroll will be about 400-450 million rubles. However, much here also depends on the size of the average wage in the region.

Obtaining a license

In a number of sources, you can find information about the optional licensing of a business for processing tires into crumbs. However, it is not. The raw materials used belong to the fourth hazard class. Accordingly, according to Russian legislation, the acceptance and disposal of such solid waste is subject to mandatory licensing.

Before submitting documents, the entrepreneur must complete the following steps:

  • Register an enterprise (optimal in this business).
  • Prepare production areas, including industrial site and sanitary zone.
  • Prepare documents and certificates for equipment.
  • Obtain permits from Rospotrebnadzor, Rosprirodnadzor, fire inspection.

The license is issued within 45 days. Its cost is 7,500 rubles. If you want to simplify the process by using the services of intermediaries, the costs will increase several times.

How much does crumb rubber cost?

How much income can be generated by recycling tires into crumbs with a capacity of 150 tons per month?

The average cost of rubber granules on the market is 150 thousand rubles. Accordingly, getting 100 tons of crumbs at the output every month, we have 1.5 million rubles.

Also, during processing, 30 tons of metal and 20 tons of textile cords worth 90 thousand rubles are formed. and 40 thousand rubles, respectively.

Thus, the total dirty income may amount to 1.68 million rubles. Subtracting monthly expenses from this amount, we get net profit. At the same time, the profitability of the enterprise will be influenced by such factors as the location of the enterprise (rental cost, transportation costs), the availability of sales markets, sources of raw materials, marketing policy, and others. On average, investments in this type of business pay off within one and a half to two years.

Search for sales markets

When searching for sales markets, it is necessary to carefully analyze the scope of activities of manufacturing enterprises operating in a particular region. Focusing on the all-Russian market and foreign supplies makes sense only for large processing companies, since transportation costs lead to a significant increase in the cost of the material.

Among the main consumers of crumb rubber:

  • companies specializing in laying seamless floor coverings (self-leveling floor);
  • manufacturers of tiles and floor coverings;
  • enterprises involved in road construction (mainly regional centers);
  • companies fulfilling state orders in the construction of sports complexes, sidewalks and other facilities.

In small quantities, crumb rubber from tires is gladly purchased by companies manufacturing sculptures for playgrounds, fences, curbs, punching bags, beanbags, bituminous mastics, rubber shoes, insulation, etc.

At the same time, it is not enough to identify potential consumers of rubber crumb - do not hesitate to contact the management of enterprises directly to find out if they are interested in your offer, in what volume they are ready to purchase raw materials and what quality.

How to avoid pitfalls?

The main mistake of entrepreneurs who decide to build a business on the processing of tires into crumbs is the wrong choice of equipment. The fact is that, unlike foreign-made tires, domestic tires contain a mixed or textile diagonal cord. Almost all machines made for the European market are not adapted to work with these materials, so even expensive equipment may be useless.

Output: specify which tires are intended for recycling of certain units.

Another actual problem is the presence of defects in new equipment. Most often this happens with units made in China. To strike a balance between quality and optimal cost will help the analysis of the manufacturer. As a rule, responsible suppliers, along with the manufacture of machine tools, are engaged in the processing of tires and the manufacture of various products from the raw materials obtained. In addition, one should not believe the stories about the ultra-high performance of the equipment - the higher the speed, the greater the risk that the unit will break if a foreign object gets “under the knife”, which is a very common situation.

This is not the whole list of situations that may arise on the way to making a profit. For example, the lack of raw materials often leads to the need to buy tires from the population, which is fraught with an increase in the cost of crumb rubber. In any case, a detailed analysis at the initial stage will allow you to enter the business smoothly and quickly recoup your investment.

Tire recycling - what is it + process technology + risks and complexities associated with the business + step by step process of opening a plant + financial calculations.

Capital investments: 3,265,000 rubles
Payback period: approximately 1 year

Every year the number of car owners is increasing, so the problem of tire recycling is becoming more and more urgent.

Used wheels are simply thrown into a landfill, and as you know, rubber decomposes for about 150 years.

But the planet, unlike it, is “not rubber”, so such actions have a negative impact on the environment.

That's why tire recycling is not just a solution to an environmental problem, but also a great idea for starting a really useful business.

Recently, one can notice such a trend - many do not want to start their own business due to the fact that many niches are already simply filled.

But in this case, the entrepreneur will have:

  • minimum of competitors;
  • access to cheap or even free raw materials;
  • the opportunity to start a sought-after business.

Tire recycling: what is it?

According to statistics, only a fifth of the tires are sent for recycling.

The remaining tires are disposed of or continue to decompose in the ground in landfills.

As for tire recycling, it is carried out in four ways:

WayDescription
Tire recyclingThere is a crushing of tires into small pieces, which can later be used for the production of other goods.
The most rational way that causes the least harm to the environment.
PyrolysisThe method involves exposing the tires to a high temperature in order to extract fuel oil from them. Such recycling cannot be called rational, because it harms the environment, besides it is expensive and pays off for a long time.
BurningThis method is used for the complete disposal of tires. As a result, you can get energy, but for it you will have to release a lot of toxins into the atmosphere, including soot and sulfur.
RecoveryThis is the new generation in tire recycling. When they are restored, the cost of oil decreases by 6 times, which indicates the rationality and efficiency of the method.

In the production of tires, various valuable polymers are used that can withstand enormous loads during the operation of the car.

Since their chemical composition does not change during the use of automobile tires, this means that they can be used for new production.

From one ton of tires you can get:

  • 700 kg of rubber, which can be used for various purposes;
  • 270 kg of soot and 450 kg of toxins that will enter the atmosphere.

Therefore, the choice is obvious: it is better to recycle used tires and get paid for it than just burn them, causing harm to the environment.

Based on the chosen method of tire recycling, you can get different products:

ProductDescription
Rubber crumbThe crushed crumb is used in further production - sanitary pads, shoe soles, car mats, rubber tiles, floor coverings in children's and sports fields, fillers for punching bags, new car tires and more.
FuelRecycled tires can be used to produce fuel oil, kerosene, and even gasoline with a higher octane rating.
Steel cordThe removed bead ring from the wheels can be used in the further production of new tires or scrapped.
GasThe resulting gas can be used as fuel for a reactor that recycles tires.
carbon blackThis product is used as a dye for concrete, in the production of new tires, and also in the military industry.

The process of converting tires into crumb rubber

We will consider the process of tire recycling using the example of crumb rubber production, which has a wide range of applications.

So, the process consists of the following steps:

  1. Tire preparation: For this, worn tires are visually inspected for unwanted parts.
  2. Removal of unnecessary parts: extraction of nails, stones, splinters, bead wire.
  3. Cutting tires into strips and further crushing them into pieces up to 4 mm in size.
  4. The resulting parts are sent to a magnetic separator, where the remnants of the metal cord are removed.
  5. The resulting rubber particles are ground to a state of crumbs with a size of 1 mm.

In the future, the resulting crumb can be converted into fuel / gas / fuel oil.

But such processing requires additional equipment and even greater capital investments.

How to open a tire recycling plant: a step-by-step process

The opening of a processing plant includes the already known stages:
  1. market analysis - study of competitors and business prospects;
  2. business registration - choosing the organizational and legal form of the future enterprise and obtaining the necessary permits;
  3. search for premises - a tire recycling shop must comply with sanitary and epidemiological and fire regulations;
  4. selection of equipment - its purchase, installation and configuration;
  5. recruitment of qualified personnel who will be able to work on the purchased equipment;
  6. search for points of sale - conducting marketing research and searching for buyers;
  7. financial plan - calculation of capital investments and income forecast;
  8. identifying possible risks - assessing negative factors and finding ways to minimize them.

Market analysis and business relevance

Tire recycling is only gaining momentum, so the niche is practically not occupied.

On the territory of many CIS countries there are no places for storing used tires, it is for this reason that not many people think about starting such a business.

Statistics show that the annual number of used tires tends to one million tons.

The increase in cars is about 5-7%, which confirms the constant increase in raw materials for processing.

Where to get raw materials?

It is possible to conclude contracts for the supply of used tires with enterprises that have cars on their balance sheet, as well as create tire collection points.

Thus, tire recycling is relevant because:

  • solves the environmental problem, and also reduces the area of territories that are provided for the storage of used tires;
  • creates a new product that other industries need.

Search for a place for production

The first step in implementing a business idea is to find a suitable space.

It should be large so that it can accommodate the production itself and warehouses for storing raw materials and finished products, as well as equip utility rooms for workers.

The room itself must comply with the following standards:

  • an area of at least 150-200 sq. m.;
  • remoteness from the residential area - at least 300 meters. It is better to choose industrial zones that are located away from the city;
  • availability of communications - electricity, water supply, sewerage, ventilation.

The room needs to be repaired in accordance with all the norms of the SES and the fire inspection.

Business registration

To start a business, you need to register it.

To do this, you can either LLC, after which you can not register with the tax authorities.

According to the Law of the Russian Federation “On Licensing Certain Types of Activities”, tire recycling does not need to be licensed, since it belongs to the V class of waste hazard.

But still, it is better to consult specialists on this issue, who will also help to collect all the necessary documents to obtain various permits.

After registering a business, it is necessary to obtain permits from the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, the environmental and fire services.

Tire recycling equipment

Interesting fact:
Initially, tires for cars had a light shade, mostly white or beige. And the usual black color appeared already at the end of the nineteenth century, after manufacturers began to add carbon to the rubber base.

The most important step in starting a tire recycling business is purchasing the necessary equipment.

Firstly, this is the largest item of expenditure in capital investments, and secondly, the entire production process will depend on it.

To create a line for processing tires into crumb rubber, you need to purchase the following equipment:

Name of equipmentCharacteristicQty
Tire bead breaking equipmentThe machine cuts the bead rings in the tires, after which the other pulls it out. The output is a wire that can be scrapped1
Tire bead removal equipment:1

Tire recycling business financial plan

The most important point in opening any business is the amount of capital investment.

It is worth noting that tire recycling requires a fairly large start-up capital, because in fact it will be a full-fledged production that requires the purchase of serious and expensive equipment.

The capital investment for opening a tire recycling plant is:

Type of expensesAmount, rub.
Total:RUB 3,265,000
Business registration10 000
Repair to the premises and establishment of communications50 000
Purchase of equipment2 500 000

The cost of the product received is:

  • rubber crumb - 14,000 rubles / t;
  • scrap metal - 6500 rubles / t;
  • textile cord - 600 rubles / t.

As a result, you can get the following income:

From the data obtained, we can say that the business will pay off in about one year.

Where and how to sell?

Since such a business has not yet found distribution in the CIS countries, it is worth saying honestly that it is quite difficult to find buyers for crumb rubber, but still possible.

As mentioned above, the range of application of crumb rubber is wide.

Potential buyers may include:

  • for the production of rubber tiles or roofing;
  • manufacturers of sports surfaces for training fields and playgrounds;
  • tire manufacturers;
  • shoe factories;
  • plumbing manufacturers.

It is also worth paying attention to the fact that this industry is supported by the state, so to promote your business, you can contact local authorities that cooperate with manufacturers of sports equipment.

The video below shows the process of recycling tires into crumbs:

What risks and challenges can come with a tire recycling business?

A tire recycling business plan should include a risk assessment and mitigation planning:

    Hardware failure

    To minimize this risk, it is necessary to constantly check the equipment and maintain the production line stably, and replace damaged parts.

    This also includes employee training and skills development.

    Untimely deliveries of raw materials

    Already at the stage of installation and adjustment of the production line, it is necessary to look for reliable suppliers and conclude long-term contracts with them.

    Failures in the sale of finished products

    Here, as in the previous paragraph, it is necessary to conclude long-term contracts with buyers, which stipulate the delivery time and the quantity of products sold.

    Improper storage of finished products

    Rubber crumb is "afraid" of high humidity, so it is necessary to ensure dry air in warehouses.

Tire recycling- this is not just a relevant and promising, but also a demanded business, which, in addition to material benefits, will benefit the environment.

The main advantages of such production are the low cost of raw materials and a minimum of competitors.

These factors allow you to create a cost-effective and profitable business.

The cost of recycling passenger and studded tires

You pay for the transportation of old tires to a recycling plant. Worn studded tires are a separate case. Technologically, it is more difficult to dispose of it, so factories treat such tires, to put it mildly, with caution. And the cost of recycling is more expensive, since manual labor is also partially used here.

Vladivostok motorists are actively "changing shoes" for their cars. This is also noticeable in the dumps of damaged tires that drivers throw away. From time to time, someone sets fire to these heaps, poisoning the air. To solve the problem of old tires, a tire recycling plant appeared in Artyom two years ago - where old wheels are turned into a new safety coating for sports stadiums.

The plant accepts rubber for recycling at 3 rubles per 1 kilogram. All sizes of tires are processed here, from small wheels of passenger cars to huge BELAZ tires.

Such a picture on the site in front of the plant, and this is only a small part:
1.

Wheels with all types of damage are used: whether it is a worn tread or a hernia. The main condition is that tires must be clean, without traces of oil and paint, and not have traces of burning.
2.

Tires at the plant are processed mechanically, which means that the production is harmless and environmentally friendly. Before the tire is sent for recycling, metal wire is removed from it.

The cores of the tire, in which the wire is located, are deposited separately:
6.

Then the tire goes into the hands of the strongest guys in this shop - they cut the wheels into pieces of 10 kg, which follow on the hydraulic shears.
7.

Harvested pieces of tires in turn enter the conveyor:

The next tire is being prepared for opening:
9.

From under the hydraulic shears, the rubber goes to the crusher, overcomes the granulator and two vibrating tables.
10.

The baby, in the course of its journey, is divided into large and small and falls into two different tanks, from which it is scattered into 25 kg bags.
13.

28 units of different equipment under the guidance of 10 craftsmen make more than one and a half tons of crumbs per shift from 3 tons of tires. This crumb goes to the production of self-leveling coatings, which are used to make artificial safety stadiums.

The largest manufacturing and transport companies in Primorye annually deliver up to 2 tons of rubber to the plant. By next year, management plans to process up to 5,000 tons of rubber per year. But, according to the general director of the plant Sergey Lazarev, in order to completely solve one of the serious problems of the city, processing capacities of 10,000 tons per year and a centralized system for collecting tires in the region are needed.

The main link in the collection system should be tire services. In Vladivostok, there are several "accredited" tire shops that have entered into an agreement with the plant. Most services just take the tires out of town and throw them away.

With the development of modern technologies and the improvement of the standard of living of the population, the number of cars in operation is increasing. Consequently, the volume of production of rubber tires is growing every year. Tire recycling, according to ecologists, is a very acute problem all over the world. According to statistics, the service life of one set of car tires is an average of 4 seasons. Comparing the facts, we can conclude that a large proportion of all recyclable waste is tires. In the process of wear, automobile tires pollute the environment with small particles in the form of an aerosol, as well as volatile substances.

Composition and diseases

Modern tires are made up of:

  • natural or synthetic rubber
  • carbon black
  • impurities - resin

It has been proven that these small particles penetrate the human lungs and cause:

  • bronchial asthma
  • allergic reactions
  • pathogenesis
  • oncological diseases
  • conjunctivitis

It takes more than 100 years for car tires to completely decompose. This long-term preservation is ensured by the special composition of the product. During the decomposition process, about 150 different compounds are released that are dangerous to human health and the environment. Since the number of cars is growing from year to year, the number of used tires is also increasing accordingly.

Why is recycling necessary?

  • Every motorist sooner or later wonders how to get rid of used rubber.
  • It is impossible to simply burn tires, because during the combustion process a large amount of harmful substances enter the atmosphere, which pollute the atmosphere.
  • Simple storage at landfills is not applicable.
  • When using recycled tires as secondary raw materials, primary resources are saved.

recycling statistics

The recycling of used wheels has been carried out in the most developed countries of Europe since the 70s of the last century. Russia, however, faced this problem only in 2000, as the level of motorization of Russians reached a high level. In the highly developed countries of Europe, 70-100% of all used tires are recycled. Abroad, they take environmental issues seriously. Recycling for car tires has been carried out for many years by specialized companies that already have experience in this field. The states of many developed countries allocate large budgets for the disposal of tires, since this type of rubber waste is the most large-tonnage.

How is rubber recycling ensured in our country? For this, local waste collection points operate in cities. You can drop off your old tires there. Russian indicators in comparison with European ones look extremely meager. Tire recycling in our country is only 15-17%. Waste material in the amount of 20% is incinerated, and the remaining volume of 60-63% is subject to disposal at special landfills. Such burials are breeding grounds for rodents and various insects, which are the first spreaders of diseases and epidemics. With such a disposal method as landfill, important secondary resources are lost, so rubber recycling is an important process.

crumb production

In order to use the “useful” components contained in used car tires, rubber crumb factories appeared, rubber processing gave rise to a new business. At the moment, the leader in the production of crumbs has become the Moscow region. It produces 5.65 thousand tons of material according to 2014 data. The process of recycling car tires in Russia is carried out at 15 recycling plants.

They are located in:

  1. Moscow region
  2. Irkutsk
  3. Tver
  4. Kaltan
  5. Vladimir
  6. Vyazma
  7. Nakhodka
  8. Kaliningrad
  9. Volzhsk
  10. Kursk
  11. Vladivostok
  12. Mezhdurechensk
  13. Khabarovsk
  14. Novokuznetsk
  15. Nevinnomyssk

The resulting crumb finds its application in various production processes:

  1. It is used for the production of covering building materials.
  2. For the manufacture of external and internal floor coverings: stadium tracks, tennis courts, playground coverings.
  3. In the automotive industry, mats for new cars, mudguards are produced from it.

The problem of automotive rubber recycling

Using worn tires is a very risky business. Until recently, this type of activity was not stimulated by the state in any way. At the same time, to open it, it is necessary to purchase expensive equipment, as well as to find a market for finished raw materials.

Typically, equipment for enterprises is made to order, according to the technical specifications of the plant. You have to wait for it from 1.5 to 6 months. The processing of truck tires requires the use of different equipment, unlike passenger cars. This is due to the fact that truck tires are characterized by a mixed type of cord with a high content of textiles, as well as with a diagonal cord. This affects the quality of the resulting raw materials, as well as the performance of the equipment. Recycling truck tires is a more labor-intensive process due to the presence of a huge amount of textiles in the finished raw material.

Also in our country, the problem of the collection of raw materials to be processed is clearly expressed. Sometimes enterprises have to collect and transport material on their own for its subsequent use or destruction. Thus, the disposal of old tires in Russia requires significant costs. Today, the collection of tires by collection points for secondary resources in our country is less relevant than the collection of plastic containers or waste paper.

Some developed and developing countries have introduced a fee for the disposal of old tires when selling a new product. Then this fee is transferred to enterprises that are engaged in further processing. The introduction of such a fee in our country would play a significant role in the development and promotion of this new and promising business. It is important to find a buyer of raw materials closer to the plant itself in order to reduce the cost of transporting finished products. Demand for this recyclable is stable, but production and transportation are not cheap.
