Previously, all the planets did not move as they do now, but whoever wants to. For example, Venus could fly even to the very edge of the solar system, on a visit to Pluto. And the stars used to be quite close. There were two or three stars around each planet. If you look at the night sky from the surface of such a planet, you can see not many, many dots, as we are used to seeing them, but several huge circles. The planets were very talkative. And the stars too. They flew just to fly. Like an endless walk ... But one day the Sun began to shine too brightly. Therefore, Venus wanted to break up the fight, but she did not succeed. But Saturn, not noticing anything around, shoved poor Venus into this mess. The Earth immediately rushed to save her friend, but hit the solid Pluto and ... She never thought that this could happen, but Pluto touched her mainland, and it fell apart! And the poor dinosaurs died. The earth wept loudly and inconsolably. The stars were frightened by such noise and rushed in all directions. And then one star flew, flew and accidentally flew into the dwelling of the Lord of the cosmos himself! -Where are you from, huh? So small! Where is your master? According to one theory, the Sun was formed along with the solar system about 4.5 billion years ago as a result of the explosion of one or more supernovae. 1. The hottest planet is not closest to the Sun
Many people know that Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, whose distance is almost two times less than the distance from the Earth to the Sun. It's no surprise that many people believe that Mercury is the hottest planet.

In fact, the hottest planet in the solar system is Venus, the second planet closest to the Sun, where the average temperature reaches 475 degrees Celsius. This is enough to melt tin and lead. At the same time, the maximum temperature on Mercury is about 426 degrees Celsius.

But due to the absence of an atmosphere, Mercury's surface temperature can vary by hundreds of degrees, while the carbon dioxide on Venus's surface maintains a virtually constant temperature at any time of the day or night.

2. The boundary of the solar system is a thousand times farther from Pluto
We tend to think that the solar system extends to the orbit of Pluto. Today, Pluto is not even considered a major planet, but this idea has remained in the minds of many people.

Scientists have discovered many objects revolving around the Sun, which are much further than Pluto. These are the so-called trans-Neptunian objects or Kuiper belt objects. The Kuiper belt extends for 50-60 astronomical units (the astronomical unit or the average distance from the Earth to the Sun is 149,597,870,700 m).

3. Almost everything on planet Earth is a rare element

Pluto was originally considered a planet, but due to its very small size (much smaller than our moon), it was renamed a dwarf planet. Astronomers also once believed that there was a planet, Vulcan, that was closer to the Sun than Mercury. Its possible existence was discussed 150 years ago to explain some of the features of Mercury's orbit. However, later observations ruled out the possibility of Vulcan's existence.

In addition, recent research has shown that there may have once been a fifth giant planet similar to Jupiter, which orbited the Sun, but was ejected from the solar system due to gravitational interactions with other planets.

5. Jupiter has the largest ocean of all the planets
Jupiter, which orbits in cold space five times further from the Sun than planet Earth, was able to hold much higher levels of hydrogen and helium during formation than our planet.

6. Even the smallest bodies in the solar system have satellites
It was once believed that only such large objects as planets could have natural satellites or moons. The fact that satellites exist is sometimes even used to determine what a planet really is. It seems counterintuitive that small cosmic bodies could have enough gravity to hold a satellite. After all, Mercury and Venus don't have them, and Mars only has two tiny moons.

But in 1993, the Galileo interplanetary station discovered the Dactyl satellite, just 1.6 km wide, near the asteroid Ida. Since then, satellites have been found orbiting about 200 other minor planets, making the definition of a "planet" much more difficult.

7. We live inside the sun
We usually think of the Sun as a huge hot ball of light located at a distance of 149.6 million km from the Earth. In fact, the outer atmosphere of the Sun extends much further than the visible surface.

Our planet orbits within its rarefied atmosphere, and we can see this when gusts of the solar wind cause the aurora to appear. In this sense, we live inside the Sun. But the solar atmosphere doesn't end on Earth. Auroras can be observed on Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and even distant Neptune. The farthest region of the solar atmosphere, the heliosphere, extends at least 100 astronomical units. This is about 16 billion kilometers. But since the atmosphere is shaped like a drop due to the movement of the Sun in space, its tail can reach from tens to hundreds of billions of kilometers.

8. Saturn isn't the only planet with rings.
While Saturn's rings are by far the most beautiful and easy to observe, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune have rings too. While the bright rings of Saturn are made up of icy particles, the very dark rings of Jupiter are mostly dust particles. They may contain minor fragments of decayed meteorites and asteroids, and possibly particles of the volcanic moon Io.

The ring system of Uranus is slightly more visible than that of Jupiter, and may have formed after the collision of small satellites. Neptune's rings are faint and dark, like those of Jupiter. The dim rings of Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune cannot be seen through small telescopes from Earth, which is why Saturn has become best known for its rings.

9. The only object with an Earth-like atmosphere is Titan.
Contrary to popular belief, there is a body in the solar system with an atmosphere essentially similar to that of Earth. This is Saturn's moon, Titan. It is larger than our Moon and is close in size to the planet Mercury. Unlike the atmospheres of Venus and Mars, which are much thicker and thinner, respectively, than Earth's and are composed of carbon dioxide, Titan's atmosphere is mostly nitrogen.

The Earth's atmosphere is approximately 78 percent nitrogen. The similarity with the Earth's atmosphere, and especially the presence of methane and other organic molecules, led scientists to the idea that Titan can be considered an analogue of the early Earth, or there is some kind of biological activity. For this reason, Titan is considered the best place in the solar system to look for signs of life.

10. There are Martian rocks on Earth (and they were not brought from Mars)
Chemical analysis of meteorites found in Antarctica, in the Sahara desert and elsewhere has shown that they are of Martian origin. For example, some of them contain gas bubbles that are chemically similar to the Martian atmosphere.

The discovery of a new planet in our solar system is the dream of every astronomer. And it should be noted - quite feasible, for example, in the spring of 2004, a dwarf planet was discovered, which was named Sedna. However, astronomers, of course, would like to discover not a small planet, but something larger and more impressive, and it is worth noting that the prospects for making such a discovery remain.

Secret knowledge of the Sumerians

The knowledge of the ancient Sumerians about space and the structure of the solar system amaze modern scientists. How 6,000 years ago they were able to find out what became the property of modern science only in relatively recent times is still unknown: whether the Sumerians inherited the knowledge of some powerful civilization that disappeared from the face of the earth, or, as the researcher Zakharia Sitchin argued actually communicated with aliens.

Until now, some of the information gleaned from Sumerian sources has not been confirmed, in particular, this concerns the tenth planet (now it can be called the ninth, because Pluto was excluded from the number of planets). The Sumerians called it Nibiru (translated from Sumerian - "planet of crossing"). According to the ancients, the orbit of Nibiru is diametrically different from the orbits of the members of the solar "family", its plane is perpendicular to the plane in which all the other planets move. According to the calculations of the Sumerians, the period of revolution of Nibiru around the Sun is 3600 years.

The search for this mysterious planet is not only of scientific interest, the fact is that Nibiru, according to the Sumerians, has regularly been the cause of disasters in the history of the Earth. At an early stage, Nibiru even collided with our planet, tearing a huge chunk out of it. If Nibiru actually exists, then, once emerging from space, it can do a lot of trouble.

It is curious that in 1983 a special satellite IRAS (“Infrared Astronomical Satellite”), which fixed invisible but heat-emitting objects in space, discovered a very large object outside the solar system. Then Gerry Nigebauer, the head of the IRAS project, said in an interview: “We may have received the first confirmation of the hypothesis of the existence of a cosmic body comparable in size to Jupiter. It is possible that it is approaching the solar system.”

At the end of the 20th century, the existence of a large body in the Oort cloud was indicated by the calculations of the British astronomer John Murray, who studied the movement of comets. Of course, while no one can say with certainty what kind of object it was, whether it is Nibiru, and whether it exists at all. In astronomy, they are very cautious about various forecasts and single observations; to declare the discovery of a new cosmic body, confirmation from other observatories is needed. Before returning to the Sumerians, we note that, according to the assumption of a number of astronomers, for example, Professor J. Davy Kirkpatrick, it may turn out that a dark star is hiding in the near (by astronomical standards) space - a brown dwarf.

The Asian Museum (Berlin) has a Sumerian star map that shows the solar system, and so, on this map, between Jupiter and Mars, another planet is shown. It can be assumed that this is a hypothetical Phaethon, which, as scientists suggest, once fell victim to a collision with another cosmic body and split into many fragments that formed the asteroid belt. How did the Sumerians know about Phaeton, because it is believed that it ceased to exist 175 million years ago, or did this cosmic catastrophe happen much later?

It is worth remembering that the planet Nemesis was also mentioned in ancient myths (Nemesis is the goddess of revenge, retribution). With the advent of this planet, our distant ancestors associated terrible apocalyptic consequences for all mankind. Maybe Nibiru and Nemesis are the same planet? During rare visits to its space "relatives" in the solar system, this terrible guest changes the orbits of asteroids, and they fall on the Earth and other planets.

Planet X - the dream of astronomers

According to the Sumerians, astronomers may well expect sensational discoveries. Discovering a new planet is the cherished dream of any scientist. The famous American astronomer Percival Lovell (1855-1916) at one time even introduced the term "Planet X", he firmly believed that its discovery was not far off.

The possible existence of an unknown planet was indicated by the perturbations of the orbits of Uranus and Neptune, so astronomers did not lose hope and again and again directed their telescopes into the starry sky. The young employee of the Lovell Observatory, Clyde Tombaugh, became the lucky one: on February 18, 1930, he discovered Pluto. This planet was small and could not be the cause of disturbances in the orbits of other planets, so Tombo searched for "Planet X" for more than 10 years, but did not find it.

Then there was a period of relative calm, but in 1982 NASA officially announced that there could be large space bodies beyond the orbit of Pluto, this encouraged the “hunters” with telescopes, and ten years later it was time to reap the benefits - discoveries began to follow one after another. And in 2004, the discovery of the tenth planet was announced.

The unenviable fate of Pluto

In November 2003, the American observatory on Mount Palomar discovered a previously unknown object on the outskirts of the solar system, and soon its presence was confirmed by other observatories. The cosmic body 2003 VB12 was cataloged, and astronomers began to refine its size and orbital parameters. One of the NASA space telescopes was connected to the research, thanks to which it became clear that the object is quite large and quite comparable to Pluto. Thus, a cosmic body was discovered, which in March 2004 was declared the tenth planet and named Sedna.

Like other planets, Sedna revolves in orbit around the Sun, its diameter is estimated at about 2 thousand km. It is removed by 10-13 billion km from our star and moves in an elongated elliptical orbit. Many astronomers were rather skeptical about the fact that Sedna was declared the tenth planet in a number of ways, primarily in size, it does not qualify for membership in the "elite escort" of our Sun. Of course, it would probably be unfair to consider Sedna an asteroid, which is why many astronomers called it a planetoid. This name, most likely, is most suitable for such cosmic bodies.

In diameter, Sedna is about 250 km smaller than Pluto, if the latter was officially recognized as a planet long ago, then why not include this recently discovered cosmic body in the solar family? Approximately so reasoned those who called Sedna the tenth planet.

The discovery of Sedna had a very negative impact on the status of Pluto. In 1999, a proposal was made to classify Pluto as an asteroid, and only a tribute to tradition did not allow then to lower its status. Pluto is smaller than 7 moons of other planets. It stood out from the family of planets of the solar system not only by its insignificant size, but also by the parameters of its orbit: its inclination angle is 20 degrees relative to the plane of the orbits of other planets, in addition, its eccentricity (elongation) is 0.24, and for the rest of the planets - only 0.07.

Because of Sedna, it was decided to return to the revision of the classification of the cosmic bodies of the solar system. On August 24, 2006, at the conference of the International Astronomical Union, Pluto was "degraded": it became not a "planet", but a "dwarf planet". Accordingly, Sedna did not become the tenth planet, and eight planets remained in the solar system. If earlier astronomers were looking for the tenth planet, now they are looking for the ninth...

Should we expect an addition to the solar family?

Can there be a worthy contender for the title of the ninth planet? Not excluded. According to astronomers, on the outskirts of the solar system there may be several tens of thousands of cosmic bodies with a diameter exceeding 100 km. Among them, objects may well be discovered, the size of which, unlike Sedna, will still exceed Pluto, and then the heated debate about the new planet will resume again.

The technical equipment of astronomers is growing from year to year, recent discoveries clearly testify to this. In 2000, an object with a diameter of 900 km was discovered, it was named Varuna, in 2001 an even larger cosmic body Ixion with a diameter of 1065 km was discovered. 2002 pleased astronomers with the discovery of Quaoar (diameter - about 1200 km). In January 2005, Eris was discovered - a small body that is 27% larger than Pluto. Eris surpassed Pluto and became the ninth largest cosmic body known in the solar system. Eris has entered a new class of dwarf planets. In 2005, with the help of the Hubble telescope, two new satellites of Pluto were discovered - Nix and Hydra with a diameter of 100 and 50 kilometers. In 2011, Hubble helped discover another moon of Pluto, named P4, which measures between 13 and 34 kilometers in diameter. It would seem that the use of such a powerful telescope as the Hubble did not leave astronomers a chance to discover a new planet in the solar system, but this is not so. There are still chances!

Nibiru and Gloria - invisible planets

Let's remember the same Nibiru. According to the Sumerians, this planet not only existed, but was inhabited. It was inhabited by intelligent beings - the Anunnaki. There are speculations that the Anunnaki genetically engineered humans to have slaves to mine gold for them. According to the Sumerian chronicles, the Anunnaki used their DNA and the genes of the earthly great ape to create man.

Does Nibiru really exist? In addition to the data of the infrared satellite IRAS, which I already mentioned, back in 1972, according to the calculations of California scientist Joseph Brady, it turned out that a certain cosmic body affects the gravity of the elliptical orbit of Halley's comet. It turned out that this body is 5 times larger than the Earth. Some scientists suggest that this is a "Dark Star", which is 80 billion kilometers away from the solar system.

According to most researchers, on a planet with such an orbit as described by the Sumerians at Nibiru, life, especially intelligent life, is simply impossible. There is even an opinion that Nibiru is the dead planet Phaeton. Perhaps those gods from space who appeared to the ancient earthlings were aliens from Phaethon. If so, then the Anunnaki died along with Phaeton as a result of some kind of cosmic catastrophe.

It is curious that the Sumerians described 12 planets of the solar system, and even with the demoted Pluto and Nibiru there are only ten of them. Suppose there was Phaeton, plus Nibiru, this is already 11 planets together with Pluto. Where is the 12th planet? Maybe it is Gloria, who is believed to be hiding from us behind the Sun? After all, our luminary closes a very impressive area from us, the diameter of which exceeds 600 diameters of the Earth.

Our compatriot, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Kirill Butusov, mathematically proved the presence of another planet in the solar system. It is in the same orbit as our planet, but directly behind the Sun. This planet was named Gloria.

There are even suggestions that Luka and Gloria are artificially created, the latter being in a very precarious position.

If a nuclear war suddenly breaks out on Earth or our planet unexpectedly collides with some cosmic body, then Gloria risks being seriously injured. Therefore, it is assumed that the inhabitants of this planet are very concerned about the state of affairs on Earth and are closely watching us, and not only watching, but also helping us in difficult situations, such as accidents at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant or at the nuclear power plant in Fukushima (Japan). Numerous UFOs in the light of this hypothesis come from Gloria. At the end of 2012, many expected the appearance of Nibiru, and it was with her that the end of the world was associated, but the mysterious planet did not appear, skeptics immediately concluded from this fact that no mysterious Sumerian planet simply exists. Perhaps this is so, however, in my opinion, it is too early to say that neither Nibiru nor Gloria exist. Astronomers still have a chance to discover the elusive Planet X.
