Dungeon monsters. Monsters of the world. Mysterious places on the planet where monsters live. Underground monster from Kabbajtuan

Speleologists discovered a crystal coffin with a mummified creature from an alien world

Strange finds that regularly appear in various places on our planet force scientists to reconsider their views on the evolution and origin of life on Earth over and over again. More and more supporters are gaining the theory of panspermia, which claims that life was brought to Earth from space. An absolutely fantastic discovery was recently made by speleologists from Turkey. Underground explorers stumbled upon a crystal coffin. Or rather, on an object that looked like a coffin, since something clearly not from our world lay in it. The mummified creature resembled a human in appearance, except for the color of its skin, which was light green, as well as two transparent wings, the same as those of insects. At the same time, male genital organs were observed in the alien, and his feet, lips, ears, nose, hands and nails were no different from human ones.

Monsters of the underworld

But the eyes were huge, colorless, exactly like those of reptiles. After the monster was sent to the science lab, a shocking conclusion followed. Both doctors and biologists said they were not sure that the monster was dead.

It is likely that it is simply in a state of suspended animation and may soon come out of it. Upon careful analysis of the crystal coffin, it turned out that the substance from which it was made was not crystal at all, but only looked like it. This is a crystalline material that is not known to science.

VIDEO: 5 underground monsters caught on camera

For several hundred years in a row, the Mongols have been passing from mouth to mouth the legend of the "Olgoi-Khorkhoy" - a certain mysterious creature that lives in the lifeless sands of the Gobi Desert. This underground monster, resembling a giant worm, is supposedly capable of unexpectedly crawling out of cracks in the ground and instantly killing its unintentional prey from a distance.

The sandy killer would have remained the property of folklore if it had not attracted the attention of numerous scientific expeditions.

Despite the fact that not a single monster fell into the hands of researchers, there was a lot of evidence that a species unknown to science really exists even today, and not only in the sands of Mongolia ...

"Olgoi-Khorkhoy" - the horror of the Mongolian deserts

Due to the fact that Mongolia has always been a country relatively isolated from the outside world, its fauna could present many surprises to scientists. One of these surprises was the “olgoy-khorkhoy” (Mongolian for “intestinal worm”), a half-meter underground creature that looks like maroon entrails of animals.

According to eyewitnesses, a strange worm is very insidious: it can suddenly crawl out from under your feet and “shoot” with deadly poison, and when you try to grab it, a person falls as if struck by lightning!

According to the assumptions of the local researcher Dondogizhin Tsevegmid, there are several varieties of these underground creatures, among which there are very aggressive yellow-colored creatures that can pursue their prey.

In 1926, the American scientist Roy Champen Andrews said that the Mongolian Prime Minister asked geologists to catch a monster called "allergohai-hohai", from the poison of which his relative died. According to some scientists, the worm kills with a poison that is similar in composition and action to hydrocyanic acid: a quite ordinary nodding centipede also uses a similar weapon. According to another, completely unbelievable hypothesis, an unusual worm has the properties of a generator of small ball lightning.

The search for a mysterious monster began in the middle of the last century, when the famous writer and scientist Ivan Efremov colorfully described the bloodthirsty Mongolian worms in one of his fantastic stories, based on his own adventures during expeditions to the Gobi Desert in 1946-1949. According to old-timer Mongols, sand monsters live about 130 km southeast of the Aimak region. During the hottest months of the year, the worms quite often catch the eye of the locals, spending the rest of the time in hibernation.

In 1954, an expedition led by the American A. Nisbet set off for the sands of Central Asia, but at the first attempt to search the desert in search of the mysterious "Olgoi-Khorkhoy", the scientists simply ... disappeared. A few months later, in the remote area of the Gobi, members of the rescue team found both American cars, and not far from them, the decayed corpses of six unfortunate travelers, whose cause of death could not be determined.

Already in the 90s, the search for an unprecedented "beast" was continued by Czech researchers Ivan Markale and Yaroslav Prokopets, who found many "traces" of the existence of underground killers and filmed a unique video. According to the Czechs, the mysterious worms are more like reptiles that have lost limbs in the course of evolution, but how they generate electricity is still not clear.

creeping riddle

Meanwhile, Mongolian monsters are not alone: similar creatures were seen in North Vietnam, and they are also credited with the disappearance of an entire regiment of French soldiers without a trace in 1953. And during the French intervention in Indochina, General Jean de Lattre de Tassini was more than once interested in some "ingots" - mysterious blue-eyed worms with silvery bodies covered with down. However, later American researchers also searched for "ingots", but to no avail.

And many years later, a trail of mysterious worms led scientists to... Ukraine. So, in 1988, in Lugansk, one of the diggers was hospitalized with a very unusual burn: despite the complete absence of underground electrical cables on the site, a snake-like mark on the worker's hand testified to an electric shock!

Two months later, a first-grader died from an "underground" electric discharge, and in 1989-1990, several more cases of electric shock were recorded during earthworks. At the same time, one of the victims even heard “sobbing” sounds coming from under the ground. The source of the strange sounds turned out to be… a fat half-meter lilac worm caught by builders while digging a heating main. Biologists who studied the strange creature in the laboratory considered it a mutant of unknown origin.

And in the village of Podosinki, near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, strange things have recently begun to happen. So, the rubber boots left to “spend the night” on the porch in the morning turned out to be torn to shreds, and the sheets hung out to dry turned into a pile of tattered rags. On the body of domestic animals, as if by themselves, bleeding wounds arose, chickens were torn to pieces right in closed chicken coops, and garden beds were full of longitudinal furrows, as if someone was diligently crawling along them.

A terrible solution was not long in coming: one night, the local watchman had to fight with ... meter-long red-eyed white worms covered with mucus! According to the victim, he accidentally discovered a whole flock of sinister creatures in the bushes. The monsters immediately pounced on the involuntary witness, and one of them even tore a piece of meat out of the watchman's hand... The wound received in the night battle became covered with blue spots and began to fester, and the veins burst, exuding a strange brown liquid. When the victim got to the hospital, the doctors threw up their hands: the proximity of the ill-fated Chernobyl nuclear power plant led them to think about mutant worms.

Scientists still argue about the nature of such creatures. Some consider them worms, which, as a result of mutation, acquired strong skin and learned to spray poison, others see them as legless lizards or snakes capable of generating electricity, and some even called them huge helminths ... Which of them is right remains a mystery .

Agree that the tunnels themselves are a rather uncomfortable place. Their darkness and crampedness can cause an attack of panic or claustrophobia, and the eternal dampness, mold and general disturbing atmosphere awaken in us ancient sensations inherited from primitive ancestors. It's scary alone and uncomfortable in the company of friends. And if you imagine that in this pitch darkness, lurking monstrous creatures are waiting for you, ready to pounce at any moment ... Unfortunately, meetings with tunnel monsters do not occur only in horror films ... (website)

Underground monster from Kabbajtuan

In 1976 in the Cabbagetown area of Toronto, 51-year-old Ernest (the last name was not indicated in the press) had an amazing story. A man with a flashlight in his hands climbed into an underground tunnel in search of a missing kitten. He managed to advance only 10 feet (about 3 meters), when some strange creature jumped out of the darkness at him. Ernest describes him as a long, lean and toothy monkey 3 feet high, covered in gray fur. The creature's large eyes glowed bright orange, frightening Ernest greatly.

But the worst thing was that the underground "monkey" suddenly spoke to the man. "Get out of here!" - she said twice in a hissing voice, like a snake, and, rushing into another tunnel, disappeared into the darkness. Not remembering himself, Ernest climbed upstairs, he was trembling all over from the horror he had experienced.

An interview with a man, where he spoke about meeting with a striking creature, was published by the Toronto Sun on condition of anonymity. Ernest was afraid that otherwise he would simply be laughed at. At the same time, he led the journalists to the place where his short and dangerous journey began. The reporters saw a small opening in the ground leading to a tunnel.

Having descended into it, the journalists looked around, walked a little back and forth, but did not see anyone. True, they came across a mutilated cat corpse, half buried in the sand. Perhaps it was the kitten that Ernest was looking for. However, who so brutally killed the unfortunate animal, and even tried to bury it? ..

After that, the newspapermen interviewed the workers servicing the sewer tunnels. One of them shocked reporters by saying that ordinary people living on the surface of the earth cannot even imagine what the underworld really is. The worker did not know what exactly Ernest saw below, but categorically declared: “If I happen to descend into this hell, I will never go alone!”

Since that time, no information has been received about the “monster from Kabbajtuan”, and it still remains a grim mystery of Toronto. However, there is one interesting detail in this story. In the area of \u200b\u200bwhat is now Cabbajtuan, according to local Indians, there once lived hairy and short humanoid creatures, who were called the word “mimegwezi”, which means “small people”. Perhaps, hiding from the white colonialists, these creatures went into the underground corridors and still live in their dark depths?..

Hairy creature from the dungeon

There are other testimonies about monsters from the tunnels. So, in 1963. in the US state of Missouri, residents of the outskirts of Centerville and St. Louis began to regularly notice a humanoid hairy creature, which they described as vicious and dangerous. Sometimes it appeared in the yards, and once even tried to pounce on a person. Starting May 9, the police began to receive numerous (up to fifty a day) calls about this strange creature.

Photos from open sources

When trying to catch him, the creature invariably ran into the sewer tunnels. Interestingly, eyewitnesses described him in different ways, for example, a group of children spoke of a half-man - half-woman with a head that was half hairy and half bald.

By the end of the month, the number of reports of the appearance of an unprecedented creature began to decline sharply, and soon they completely stopped.

Sewer Reptilians

... March 5, 1981 The New Valley Dispatch of Pennsylvania published an article titled "Green Creature Rumors" which reported that near New Kensington, Pennsylvania, a group of teenagers saw an unusual 4-foot-tall reptilian creature emerging from a sewer tunnel. The teenagers tried to chase the strange creature, and one was not even afraid to grab it by its thin tail, but the “dinosaur-like humanoid” squealed so loudly and viciously that the guy immediately released it, and the creature disappeared into the darkness of the tunnel.

Judging by the way the teenagers described this creature, it may well be a reptilian or a reptilian alien. But what if these creatures have a base underground, and through the tunnels they go outside?

Another story that happened in 2008 speaks in favor of this version. in the American city of Anaheim (California). The woman was walking her dog, and she drew the attention of the hostess to an incomprehensible green creature peeping out of the sewer hatch. Later, according to the woman, this creature appeared at night in her trailer and began to creep up to the bed. The terrified woman rushed to her friend's trailer asking for help. Around her own trailer, she saw other green lizards climbing out of the sewer.

The man ran out holding a golf club. His screams and threats stopped the monsters and forced them to leave. The creatures looked like very large reptiles with sharp, large teeth.

The story didn't end there, however. The next night, its participants heard terrible screams in the dark, and the next morning they found the remains of some animal not far away. After that, the woman and the man hurriedly left the dangerous place.

Underworld Reptilians

On the subject of stories about there is one very curious fact. In the 1930s, geologist Warren Shufelt discovered a huge network of mysterious tunnels under Los Angeles (a report on this discovery was published by the Los Angeles Times).

Shufelt believed that the tunnels covered not only the city, but the whole of California. He was also sure that some ancient civilization of lizards had built them.

Not only America can boast of such tunnels. A few years ago, a letter from a certain Gregor, a geologist from Austria, was published on the website of Lon Strickler, a paranormal researcher. Gregor wrote that in May 2011. he was exploring a small cave on the eastern shore of the Hallstetter See and suddenly heard some voices in the darkness. Thinking it was a hallucination, the geologist continued his work, but involuntarily began to listen to the voices.

Moving in the course of his research, he approached the wall of the cave, which for some reason turned out to be smooth and emitted a very strong rotten smell. The soil under the wall was red. Then Gregor heard the strange voices again.

All this frightened the man so much that he decided to get out as soon as possible, and had already run a few meters, but impulsively looked back. The geologist saw a bright yellow light breaking through the darkness, then some more yellow lights, and finally - amazing humanoid creatures.

Photos from open sources

There were about twenty of them - muscular, lizard-like creatures, somewhat differing in their height. The creatures were dressed in different colors of clothing covering their bodies and legs, so Gregor could only get a good look at the muzzles and long tails swaying back and forth.

However, even through the clothes it was clear that the limbs of these creatures are very massive. Communicating with each other in a language completely unfamiliar to Gregor, the humanoids moved along the passage and disappeared into some hole in the wall.

The geologist managed to get out of the cave, but for a long time he was in a state of shock and only later was able to remember in detail everything that had happened.

Underground monster with glowing eyes

Another unusual case that took place in the mountains of the US state of Washington is described in his book "Real Monsters, Terrible Creatures and Monsters from the Dark" by Brad Steiger, a world-renowned archaeologist and researcher of anomalous phenomena. In a place called the "Cascade Tunnel" (an abandoned railway corridor), legends about a monster with yellow burning eyes have lived for many years.

This creature happened to be seen by a certain Dave, who went into the tunnel in order to take some photographs (the date of the event was not specified by the author of the book). Suddenly, the man saw glowing yellow eyes ahead. As Dave later said, none of the known living creatures can have such bright eyes. In the semi-darkness it was possible to make out the dark figure of the monster itself - huge, up to 9 feet high. At the sight of this yellow-eyed giant, Dave rushed out of the tunnel in horror.

Some time later, having already told people about his meeting with the monster, the man, accompanied by a group of curious people, returned to the same place. Everyone was wondering if the tunnel monster would appear again. This story ended, according to Brad Steiger, very sadly: not a single person from the dangerous expedition returned, and none of the daredevils were seen again.

Photos from open sources

However, not all tunnel monsters are humanoid creatures. For example, in the 70s of the last century, workers servicing the underground communications of Tokyo saw something similar to a giant web that stretched under the ceiling for a decent distance, and in it, in addition to dry cockroaches, rat corpses and skeletons dangled.

In one place, the workers found a dark hole with a diameter of up to a quarter of a meter. Without waiting for someone to crawl out of the hole, the men hurried to leave. They decided that an ordinary spider lives in the tunnel, but judging by the size of the hole and the web, it can be argued that such large spiders are not known to science ...

We often hear that now more and more species of animals are dying out or are on the verge of extinction, and their complete extinction is only a matter of time. Hunting, destruction of natural habitats, climate change and other factors have led to the fact that the rate of loss of animal species is 1000 times greater than the rate of restoration of the natural background. And although the extinction of animals is always sad, sometimes for us humans, it can even be beneficial.

From 40-foot-long mega-snakes to giraffe-sized flying creatures, check out this list of 25 animals you wouldn't be happy to be around.

1. Pelagornis Sanders i

With a wingspan of around 7 meters, Pelargonis Sandersi was apparently the largest flying bird ever to have lived on Earth. She appears to have been able to fly only by pushing off a cliff, and has spent most of her life above the ocean, relying on the currents of wind rising from the ocean to keep her "afloat". Although compared to pterosaurs, whose wingspan was almost 12 meters, this bird was still quite "moderate" in size.

2. Euphoberia

Similar to modern centipedes in form and behavior, Euphoberia had one major difference - it was over 90 cm long! While scientists aren't entirely sure what it actually fed on, we do know that some modern centipedes feed on birds, snakes, and bats. If a 25 cm centipede could hunt birds, imagine who a nearly meter long centipede could hunt!

3. Gigantopithecus

The Gigantopithecus lived between 9 million and 100,000 years ago in present-day Asia. It was the largest species of monkey on Earth. It is believed that this creature up to 3 meters high and weighing up to 540 kg walked on four legs, like gorillas and chimpanzees, but some believe that they could walk on two limbs, like people. The properties of their teeth and jaws suggest that these animals were able to chew through coarse, fibrous food by cutting into and grinding it.

4. Andrewsarchus

This cutie lived during the Eocene, about 45-30 million years ago. Andrewsarchus was a huge carnivorous mammal. Given the found skull and several bones, paleontologists suggest that this predator could weigh up to 1800 kg, which makes it the largest land mammal in history. However, the feeding behavior of this animal is not well understood, and some theories suggest that the Andrewsarchs may have been omnivores or even scavengers.

5. Pulmonoscorpius

The scientific name of this creature translates as "breathing scorpion". He lived in the Visean era (c. 345-330 million years ago) of the Carboniferous period. Based on fossils found in Scotland, scientists believe that this species reached 76 cm in length. He lived on land and probably fed on small arthropods.

6. Megalania

Megalania lived in South Australia. It was a huge lizard that became extinct about 30,000 years ago, which means that the first Aborigines of Australia could well meet it. Scientists disagree about the size of this lizard - it may have reached 7 meters in length, making megalania the largest land lizard in history.

7. Helicoprion

One of the prehistoric centenarians (310-250 million years ago) - helicoprion - is a genus of extinct shark-like creatures with an interesting jaw. Reached 4 m in length, but its closest living relatives - chimeras - can reach only 1.5 m in length.

8. Entelodons

Unlike their modern relatives, entelodons were boar-like mammals with a special gourmet attitude towards meat. Arguably one of the scariest-looking creatures in history, the entelodon walked on all fours and was almost human tall. Some scientists believe that entelodons were even cannibals. Well, if they ate each other, do you think they wouldn't want to eat human flesh?

9. Anomalocaris

Probably lived in all the seas of the Cambrian period. In translation, its name means "abnormal shrimp." This is a genus of marine animals, close relatives of arthropods. Scientists believe that it preyed on hard-bodied marine life, including trilobites. They had unique eyes with 30,000 lenses - believed to be some of the most "advanced" eyes in the history of the species.

10. Meganeura

Meganeura is a genus of extinct insects from the Carboniferous period. Reminds modern dragonflies (and is related to them). With a wingspan of up to 66 cm, it is one of the largest flying insects in the history of our planet. Meganeura was a predator, and its diet consisted mainly of other insects and small amphibians.

11. Attercopus

Attercopus was a genus of arachnids with a scorpion-like tail. For a long time, Attercopus was considered the prehistoric ancestor of modern spiders, but scientists who discovered its traces soon came to a different opinion. It is unlikely that Attercopus wove a web, although it may have used it to wrap eggs, lay a gimp, or build the walls of its burrow.

12. Deinosuchus

Deinosuchus is an extinct relative of modern alligator crocodiles that lived 80-73 million years ago. Although it was larger than any of the modern species, it looked almost the same. It reached a length of 12 meters and had large sharp teeth capable of killing and devouring sea turtles, fish and even large dinosaurs.

13. Dunkleosteus

Living at the end of the Devonian period about 380-360 million years ago, the Dunkleosteus was a huge super-predatory fish. Due to its terrifying size (up to 10 m in length and weighing almost 4 tons), it was the apex predator of its time. This fish had strong armor, which made it a relatively slow but very powerful swimmer.

14. Spinosaurus

Larger than Tyrannosaurus Rex, Spinosaurus is the largest carnivorous dinosaur of all time. It reached 18 m in length and weighed up to 10 tons. They ate tons of fish, turtles and even other dinosaurs. If this horror lived today, we most likely would not live.

15. Smilodons

Smilodons lived in North and South America during the Pleistocene era (2.5 million - 10,000 years ago). This is the best example of a saber-toothed cat. An excellent predator with especially well developed forelimbs and incredibly long sharp fangs. The largest individual could weigh up to 408 kg.

16. Quetzalcoatl

The wingspan of these creatures could reach an incredible 12 meters. This pterosaur was the largest ever flying creature, including among modern birds. However, it is very difficult to estimate the size and weight of these huge animals, because. no existing animal has the same body structure, so published results vary greatly. One of the characteristic features of these animals was that they all had unusually long and hard necks.

17. Hallucigenia

The name comes from the idea that these creatures are very strange, almost like a hallucination. These worm-like creatures were 0.5-3 cm long and lacked some sensory organs on their heads, such as eyes and nose. Instead, the hallucigenia had seven tentacles on each side of its body, as well as three pairs of tentacles behind them. To say that this is a strange creature is to say nothing.

18. Arthropleura

An inhabitant of the Upper Carboniferous period (340-280 million years ago). Lived in what is now North America and Scotland. It was the largest land invertebrate species in history. Despite their huge length of almost 2.7 meters, Arthropleura were not predators, they fed on rotting forest plants.

19. Short-faced bear

The short-faced bear is an extinct species of bear that lived in North America during the Pleistocene era up to 11,000 years ago, making it the "most recent" extinct creature on our list. However, its size is truly prehistoric. Standing on two hind legs, the bear reached 3.6 m in height and 4.2 meters if he raised his front paw up. It is believed that these giants weighed more than 1360 kg.

20. Megalodon

The name of this toothy monster is translated as "big tooth". This is an extinct species of huge shark that lived about 28-1.5 million years ago. Due to its incredible length of up to 18 meters, it is considered one of the largest and most powerful predators that have ever lived on Earth. Lived almost all over the world and looked like a larger and more terrifying version of the modern great white shark.

21. Titanoboa

Living approximately 60-58 million years ago, during the Paleocene era, the titanoboa was the largest, longest and heaviest snake in history. Scientists believe that individual representatives of the species reached 12 meters in length and weighed about 1133 kg. Their diet consisted of giant crocodiles and turtles, with whom they shared what is now South America.

22. Fororakos

Also called "terrible birds", these prehistoric creatures are an extinct genus of large birds of prey that were the largest species in South America during the Cenozoic period, approximately 60 million years ago. The largest flightless bird of prey ever to roam the earth. Reached 3 meters in height, weighed up to half a ton and, presumably, could run as fast as a cheetah.

23. Cameroceras

Lived during the Ordovician period 470-460 million years ago. It is the giant ancestor of modern squid and octopus. The most characteristic feature of this mollusk was a huge cone-shaped shell and tentacles with which he caught fish and other marine life. It is believed that the size of its shell varied from 6 to 12 meters.

24. Carbonemys

Carbonemys is an extinct genus of huge turtles that lived about 60 million years ago, i.e. they survived the mass extinction of the dinosaurs. Fossils found in Colombia suggest that they had a shell that reached almost 1.8 meters. Turtles were carnivorous, with huge jaws powerful enough to eat large mammals such as crocodiles.

25. Jaekelopterus

Jaekelopterus, without a doubt, can be called one of the largest arthropods in the world - its length reached 2.5 meters. Sometimes it is called the "sea scorpion", but in fact it refers more to lobsters living in freshwater lakes and rivers of modern Western Europe. This terrible creature lived about 390 million years ago, earlier than most dinosaurs.

One of the creepiest inhabitants of Ancient Rome was the Basilisk, a creature with the head of a bird, the body of a winged dragon, and the tail of a snake. Its description is found as early as the 4th century BC, as well as in the Natural History of Pliny the Elder. According to ancient beliefs, basilisks are able to kill people with their poisonous teeth, as well as with their breath and eyes. Hence the notion of the deadly "gaze of the basilisk".

In the medieval textbook of alchemy, this monster is given the following description:

“From his gaze, trees and rocks are burning, stones are cracking, rivers and lakes are boiling. When the Basilisk is furious, lamps and torches go out in a hundred steps, the earth trembles, the birds fall dead, and there is no escape from this monster, and there is no way to moderate his anger ... Where can you find the strength to curb the Basilisk? .. "

According to sources, basilisks are drawn to where there is "darkness and a lot of blood." The Roman Basilisk lived in the dungeons of the Colosseum. He was also met outside the walls of Aurelius, not far from the Appian Way, and also under the baths of Diocletian. In terms - Roman baths - people sometimes disappeared. Their disappearance was attributed to the atrocities of the Basilisk.

The ministers of the church have repeatedly tried to fight the evil spirits terrorizing Rome, including the Basilisk. Pope John XII allegedly succeeded in this especially, having entered, according to rumors, into personal contact with the monster. But after the pope died suddenly - either from some kind of illness, or after severe beatings inflicted on him by someone in a deserted place, they began to say that Basilisk was to blame. The servants of the deceased said that near the ancient ruins they met a monster with burning eyes. Looking at him, they lost consciousness, and when they woke up, dad, tormented and bloody, was lying on the ground.

They saw the Basilisk not only near the dungeons, but also in other places. So, in the late 30s of the last century, the monster was allegedly noticed by a night watchman near the theaters of Marcellus. A few days later, the corpse of some tramp was found near the theater building. The nature of the damage on the gel indicated that it was unlikely that they could have been inflicted by a person ...

Soon a creature with burning eyes met a company of young people on the Appian Way, passing by the tomb of Caecilia Metella. They also saw it on the territory of the Roman Forum, near the ruins of the ancient religious building Umbilicus-Urbis, which in the Middle Ages was called by some of the Catholic clergy a “satanic place”. This time, three homeless people who came to Rome to work faced Basilisk. Two of them took to flight, and the third, running away, stumbled and fell. After that, no one saw him again. The comrades of the missing person subsequently returned to this place to look for him, and with horror found bloodstains on the stones and the ground ... It happened during the reign of Mussolini, who was informed about the incident. As a result, the two survivors were sent to work in the quarry, where they disappeared without a trace. So it is not known who was more fortunate - them or their friend, suddenly torn to pieces by a monster ...

However, they say that Basilisk still lives in Rome, only hiding from people.

One of the legends about the Parisian catacombs tells of a fantastic creature that lives in the galleries under the Montsouris park. They say that it has amazing mobility, but it moves only in the dark. In 1777, the Parisians often encountered him, and these meetings, as a rule, foreshadowed the death or loss of someone close.

The New York subway has acquired a lot of legends during its existence. So, there are rumors that crocodiles live in the sewers of the city, which attack subway passengers. And in the abandoned tunnels, “mole people” seem to live - homeless vagrants who never come to the surface and feed on rats. They have long lost their human form and attack people. In 1993, Jennifer Toth published The Mole People: Life in the New York Tunnel.

They also talk about a certain “underground shaman”, who can sometimes be seen from the car window. As Vadim Burlak testifies in the book “Unknown New York”, once in the 20s or 30s of the last century, student girls returned home late in the evening in an empty carriage. For some reason, the train stopped in a tunnel between stations, and then the girls noticed lights approaching them from the darkness, similar to someone's burning eyes. Then they heard someone's howl, reminiscent of a wolf ...

The next day, one of the girls complained to her friend that she had been haunted by this vision in the subway all night. And the next evening, a student threw herself under a train ...

After that, rumors spread around New York about a terrible “look from the subway”. Several eyewitnesses of this phenomenon committed suicide.

Somewhere in the first years after the Second World War, people in the New York subway began to frighten "something". This something had a face contorted with malice, burning eyes and long disheveled hair. It howled terribly, suddenly appearing from the darkness.

The police figured out the situation rather quickly: it turned out that this was one of the repair workers having fun in this way, putting on a shaman mask rubbed with phosphorus ... The "Joker" was fined, and he returned to the service. But the comrades noticed that something was wrong with him: he was silent, shuddered at every sharp sound and constantly looked around ... After working for a couple of hours, the worker, without saying a word to anyone, went somewhere in the dark. Soon he was found in one of the underground corridors. “The man was dead, his eyes bulging in horror. But there were no signs of violence on the body. The cause of death was called sudden cardiac arrest.

Since then, they began to say that a "shaman" lives in the subway. He supposedly took revenge on the "joker" for trying to compete. The legend of the "underground shaman" over time began to acquire more and more details. Connoisseurs said that the shaman appeared at the beginning of the 20th century from the southern shores of Lake Ontario. He tried to conjure, to heal people, but something did not work out for him. And then the spirits (and what a shaman without spirits!) sent him to serve the forces of darkness in the dungeon of the Big City. And the spirits of darkness had to make sacrifices.

It is known that only from 1940 to 1965, when the “underground shaman” was the most talked about, about nine thousand people disappeared in the New York subway. And only the remains of a few of them were later found ...

They say that the dark shaman still lives in the bowels of the New York subway. And there are people who even allegedly managed to personally communicate with him. Another legend...

However, according to experts, most New Yorkers should be wary of rats. Their livestock is constantly multiplying due to the fact that passengers often throw leftover food on the rails, and this attracts rodents.
