"Based on true events." Ever since I can remember I've seen light come from people Since I can remember Thor Heyerdahl has been my hero

Thor Heyerdahl has been my hero ever since I can remember.

Thorgeir Severud Higraff is a Norwegian journalist, the main organizer and leader of the Tangaroa expedition in 2006. The raft of the expedition, built, like the famous Kon-Tiki, in Callao, a suburb of Lima, the capital of Peru, from balsa wood, went out into the ocean, like Kon-Tiki on April 28 and 31 days earlier than Kon-Tiki, arrived at the Polynesian island Raroia. A book written by Thorgeir about the expedition has been translated into Danish, Swedish and Finnish. The film won the Best Cinematography Award at the Moscow Vertical Film Festival in 2007.

We asked Thorgeir to tell us about the expedition and its preparations.

Tangaroa is the god of the seas. Overcoming borders

Since I can remember Thor Heyerdahl has always been my hero. His fame began with his journey across the Pacific Ocean on a primitive balsa raft, named after the Inca sun god "Kon-Tiki".

Heyerdahl's diaries, which he kept on Kon-Tiki, were never published, but I could not only get acquainted with them in the Kon-Tiki Museum in Oslo, but also study them. Heyerdahl paid a lot of attention to detail. For example, he documented the number and types of flying fish they found on deck every morning, the types of birds and the number of sharks they encountered in the ocean, and made extensive notes about the preparations for the voyage. Only once did I have the opportunity to meet my hero in person. It was at the end of 2000 in Oslo, but, of course, the idea of the project, which we called "Tangaroa" - the god of the seas, was inspired by Kon-Tiki.

Our expedition had two goals: 1) testing the Guaras navigation system - boards that, being lowered between the logs of the raft, play the role of rudders; 2) analysis of ocean pollution at the molecular level.

Our use of the guaras at Tangaroa was based on Heyerdahl's observations after the Kon-Tiki expedition had ended. In 1953, Tour conducted experiments in Ecuador with a small raft, using "guaras" to understand how this mechanism works. He wrote about the ease of use of these boards in his books, including Ancient Man and the Ocean in 1978.

Our second, and perhaps the main, task was to determine the degree of pollution of ocean water. On board the raft was equipment with which samples of ocean water and bile of caught fish were collected. We were interested in discovering what is often referred to as "latent pollution". This is not the often mentioned oil film and plastic garbage, but antibiotics and hormones, which, spreading by water, lead to mutations of organisms and the inability of species to reproduce.

The received materials, by agreement, were sent for study in : 1) Biosense (Norway); 2) Veterinary Institute (Norway); 3) University of Zurich (Switzerland); 4) University of Bergen (Norway); 5) Water Inverstigations (Sweden). We hoped that the analyzes taken by us would help scientists clarify questions of biology.

"Tangaroa" was made of 11 large balsa logs, with a diameter of 80 to 100 cm, eight smaller logs served as cross beams, a platform was formed on top of them. The longest middle log was 17 m. logs along the edges - 14 m each. Together they weighed just over 20 tons. If an ordinary sailing vessel, having received slight damage to the hull, may sink. A balsa raft can lose two-thirds of its hull and still keep crew and cargo afloat.

The Tangaroa is not the only ship to take its cue from the 1947 Kon-Tiki expedition. In fact, there were at least 40 others (rafts, reed boats and canoes) according to Peter Capelotti, who explored the topic in his book Sea Drift. Rafting on the Kon-Tiki trail. He described several such journeys in detail. Most of these experiments avoided serious problems. Some were so badly conceived that we might call them irresponsible. Basically, serious problems happened to the crew if someone fell overboard, got sick, got injured or was in danger of death. There were several teams whose members had so much dislike for each other that they endangered the voyage. For example, during the last experiment conducted by John Haslett, one of the members added problems to the team because the organizers did not give enough time for the team members to get to know each other, and this turned out to be a bad decision. Despite this, their story became the basis for an exciting read later. Haslett also had issues with the shipworm (" teredo naxalis ”). Within three weeks the raft was attacked and eaten by the worms that lived in the logs. In my opinion, Vital Alsar's voyage to La Balsa in 1970 was one of the best results of the team's work at sea. Elsar built a rather small raft (4 logs) and sailed between Ecuador and Australia. Compared to Tangaroa, La Balsa was small and extremely light raft. The wind and waves ruffled it while we slept like angels on our big raft. The four members of La Balsa's crew were really hardy guys. The storm battered their raft so much that one of the crew members was knocked unconscious by the impact Fortunately, they did not lose anyone at sea and it is commendable that they did not give in. Another risky experiment was Tahiti Nui, led by 66-year-old Eric de Bishop in 1958. At the end of this heartbreakingly long voyage, an exhausted Bishop died after hitting the rocks of the reef I think if you are serious about presenting your project, and even more so if you love your family, then such expeditions as Tahiti Nui or La Balsa are too risky for you.

Hopefully the Tangaroa experiment set the team's safety standards for future expeditions, but it was an expensive project, costing around $800,000.

If Heyerdahl were still with us, he might have been surprised at our use of the guaras, the big sail with which we arrived in Polynesia 31 days earlier than he could. I think he would be curious about the similarities we've discovered between Viking ship technology and balsa raft technology. I think that he could have asked us questions, but questions were not asked, because in 2006 Heyerdahl was no longer with us for four years, but going on any trip, we remember his words:

"Boundaries? I haven't seen any, but I've heard they exist in minds of many people.

” launches a series of materials for jazz lovers: about jazz, new jazz albums and concerts in Moscow.

On June 9, Lorraine Gordon passed away. She was 95. Great woman. Perhaps this is the first time you hear this name, but it was Lorraine Gordon who for many years was a fulcrum for American jazz. Armstrong, Monk, Evans, Davis, Coltrane, Marsalis, Lovano, Glasper - Gordon pulled together the great names of different eras. Remove Gordon - and an irreplaceable void is formed in jazz history.

"I have loved jazz since I can remember. I don't know why. I never asked myself about it. I just liked jazz and that's it," Gordon said in an interview.

Since childhood, she has been a member of the New York jazz education "New Ark Hot Club" and has collected records. At the age of nineteen, she married Alfred Lyon, the founder of the Blue Note label, and helped him run his business: she was engaged in accounting, selected the best compositions for recording, and promoted new artists. Thelonious Monk's first engagement at the Village Vanguard was her doing.

In 1950, Gordon broke up with Lyon and married a second time - to the owner of the Village Vanguard club, Max Gordon. At that time, Vanguard was not jazz - beat poets and folk singers regularly performed on the club's stage. With a passion for jazz, Lorraine had a strong influence on her husband, and within seven years the club switched to jazz music. For half a century, Lorraine helped her husband develop the club and make the Village Vanguard a symbol of jazz. Along the way, Gordon was fond of politics, participated in the Women Strike For Peace movement, sought to end the Vietnam War, and in 1965 made a secret trip to Hanoi through the Soviet Union.

Max Gordon died in 1989, the Village Vanguard closed for one evening, but reopened the next day. Lorraine Gordon took over the management of the club: "Max never asked me to manage Vanguard after his death, he did not ask anyone for anything. But I decided to continue. I was not afraid. I did not lose heart and rushed into this pool with my head" . Lorraine Gordon was then 65.

Over the next thirty years, Village Vanguard miraculously managed to avoid formats and patterns - it is still a small basement with oil-painted walls, a distinct smell of dampness, a cramped hall with small tables. Village Vanguard does not serve food - only a capacious bar list. No design, no trends, no "attention to the client" - jazz owes nothing to anyone. But in Vanguard, the best sound in the world and an inquisitive listener will be rewarded in full. Jazzmen value the acoustics of the club above all, take weekly sessions of two performances per evening, and then write the material. "Live At The Village Vanguard" - with this name there are more than a hundred records, at least a dozen of them are great.

Greetings to all who visit!

I think postscript "based on true events" attracts many viewers and filmmakers use it without a twinge of conscience in order to interest more people. But in the end it turns out that if there are 20 percent of these same "real events" in the film, then that's good!

Looking ahead, I’ll say that after watching I read the true story, and the film is really woven from many facts and authentic eyewitness accounts of this daring scam!

The story is told to us by real people, including Frederic Bourdin himself.

Looking at him, one involuntarily asks the question: is this the look of a crazy person or a very good actor? The confusion of an abandoned child is immediately replaced by the mask of a dangerous brilliant criminal!

I stumbled upon the description of the film "The Pretender" by chance and anticipating an interesting story, I could not pass by!

Frédéric Bourdain: A virtuoso impostor and master of deceit who changed his identity at least 39 times.

An FBI agent and a private detective are trying to expose the fraudster Bourdain, but they will meet with much darker secrets. After all, every lie has two truths!

In 1994, 13-year-old teenager Nicholas Barkley disappeared in the United States, after a long time of searching, the family managed to get used to their grief, when suddenly, three years later, Nick himself called and said that he wanted to go home!

In Spain, on a rainy night in a telephone booth, the police found a harassed, frightened to death teenager. Could they assume that this is one of the most wanted criminals by Interpol?

This story will tell us how, overnight, a 23-year-old brown-eyed brunette turned into a missing 16-year-old American teenager with blond hair and eyes! Agree very intriguing?

The film was shot in the form of a documentary diary., where Frederick himself tells us the whole chain of exciting events, shares his thoughts and experiences. This is not an action movie or a detective story, where events follow each other at lightning speed, there are a lot of subtle psychological moments that, like pieces of a puzzle, are put together by the smallest fragments into a big whole picture!

Already at such a young age, Frederic shows himself to be an expert in human psychology, which allows him to skillfully manipulate others like puppets!

The director allows all the participants in the story to speak, which creates even greater realism, it seems as if you are watching an interview or operational shooting

When Frederic manages to take Nick's place, he experiences joyful euphoria, no remorse! There is only him and his game!

The story of Frederic-Nicholas absorbs from beginning to end! From the first minutes of the film, you ask yourself: "Will he really succeed?"

And when you realize that the character really existed, you look with even greater interest!

Of course, I won’t reveal all the cards, I’ll just say that Frederick is waiting for another discovery that just doesn’t fit in my head! It is very interesting to listen to the revelations of an FBI agent and a private detective, they are also taken from a real case.

Excerpt from a real interview with an agent:

“He obviously knew a lot about such cases,” the agent concluded. “A normal person cannot come up with such nightmarish details.

Either he really was a victim of violence, or he was a terrific actor."

Frederic Bourdin had a difficult childhood, for his mother he was an unwanted child, which resulted in great psychological trauma. He felt great pity for himself and by any means went to his goal "to be desired and loved"

Human bioenergy field (AURA) - Edgar Cayce.

Ever since I can remember, I have seen light emanating from people. I do not remember a time when my eye did not notice a slight blue, green or red glow rising from their heads and shoulders. It took a very long time before I realized that other people do not see these colors, and it took a very long time before I heard the word AURA and learned to apply practice to this phenomenon, and this phenomenon was so everyday for me.
I strongly associate all people with auras, I see how friendliness and affection grow over time, since everything: illness, devotion, love, accomplishments, everything is reflected in the aura, and the aura for me is an indicator of the soul. It shows which way the wind of fate blows.
Many people are able to see auras. Many have experienced what I have, without knowing for years how unusual this ability is. One woman, my friend and member of this association, told me the following.
“All my childhood I saw colors in connection with people, but did not understand that it was unusual. Once, the appearance of our neighbor seemed somehow strange to me, although I did not immediately realize what was the matter. When I returned home, I suddenly I realized that I did not see any flowers around her. A few weeks later this woman died. So I first encountered what I now consider a natural act of nature. "

Aura, undoubtedly reflects the vibrations of the soul. If a person is destined to die, then the soul begins to depart and the aura, accordingly, fades away. In the end, when the connection is only a little held, the break is easy. I have heard that when people die suddenly, in an accident, the transition is very difficult because it was not prepared.
A person's aura says a lot about him, and when I realized that only a few see it and that this is very important in a spiritual sense, I began to study the colors of the aura in order to learn to understand their meaning. Over the years, I developed a pattern that I tested from time to time with those who see auras.

It is curious to note that almost all of our observations coincided. Disagreements arose only in relation to the colors contained in our own auras. This is interesting because it shows how universal the laws of nature are. We know that opposites attract and similarities repel. Because my aura contains a lot of blue, and my interpretation of this color is different from the opinion of a person whose aura does not contain it and who can therefore judge more objectively. There is a lot of green in the aura of one of my acquaintances, and she usually does not like the green color in the auras of others, she disapproves of it, while this color is the color of purification and is a very good sign.
Sometimes in books devoted to the occult sciences, I came across descriptions of colors and, as a rule, they coincided with the conclusions that I came to from my observations. However, the interpretation of each particular aura is such an art that is acquired over many years of continuous observation and endless trial and error. The mixing of colors, their ratio, the prevalence of one over the other - all this must be taken into account before making a judgment. I am usually better at "interpreting" people I know than strangers, although some general characteristics of strangers are immediately apparent to me.
But in important cases, I prefer to know the person. Here I can tell him when I see the flickering lights of success and achievement and warn him if he is in danger of discouragement or illness.
Of course I don't do it for money, I would never do that. I am sure that I have the ability that all people will someday have, and I want to do everything in my power to get people used to this idea, so that they always remember auras and would like to see them.
I was told that with the right equipment, everyone can see auras. There are special devices for this and once I met a professor who claimed that in his laboratory he not only saw auras, but measured and weighed (Edgar Cayce died in 1945 - translator's note).
In his wonderful book Pain, Sex and Time, Gerald Hurd, speaking of various signs of the evolution of consciousness, indicates that our ability to see colors is progressing. The easiest way to recognize, to see, as you know, is red. Light at this end of the spectrum has a longer wavelength. On the other hand, where blue turns into purple and lilac, the waves are short. Hurd, who is quite an authoritative scientist, claims that our ability to see blue color is acquired recently.
The population living on the banks of the Blue Nile call this river differently. If translated, their name would mean "brown".
Homer throughout the Iliad and the Odyssey describes the color of the Mediterranean as "dark as wine." Homer, according to Hurd, undoubtedly caught "a slight gleam of red in the purple tone of the Mediterranean", but did not see the dominant blue. Moreover, Aristotle claimed that there are only THREE colors in the rainbow: red, yellow and green.
We know that perspective has recently appeared in the visual arts and some primitive peoples are not yet able to see it. Researchers on separate Pacific islands found that the natives watching the movie saw nothing but a flat surface - their eyes could not give three-dimensionality to the image.
Thus, it seems that the possibilities of our vision are increasing. Many have noticed that among civilized peoples, the majority of the population wears glasses. It is considered bad. Could this not be the result of our efforts /constant/ to see more and move on to the next stage of evolution? I think this is the case, and someday it will be recognized.
The Japanese, for example, until recently were at the level of the Middle Ages, and in their desire to see everything that we already perceive, they strained their eyesight so much that now /almost/everyone wears glasses.
What does it mean to move to the next level of evolution? This means being able to see auras. And what will it give? Instead of answering, I'm going to tell you two episodes from the life of my friend who sees auras. This female friend told me the following: "If anyone, be it a complete stranger or a close friend or family member, is going to tell me a lie or just avoid a direct and frank answer to my question, I immediately above his head flashes a horizontal streak of lemon yellow. I call it "gas green" and it has served me as a sure sign of evasiveness and lies. I have been a teacher for many years and students have always marveled at my ability to catch them at the slightest deviation from the truth."
Just imagine what this means - anyone will see if you are going to tell a lie, even the most innocent one.
We will always have to be sincere, as deception will simply be impossible!

And now I will give another story of hers:
“Once in a big city I went to a department store. I was on the sixth floor and called the elevator. While I was waiting for him, I noticed bright red sweaters and thought it would be nice to see them. But the elevator was already called and when the doors opened, I stepped forward to get in. The elevator was almost full, and suddenly something pushed me away. The brightly lit cabin seemed dark to me. Something was wrong. Still not knowing what I was doing, I told the elevator operator: - and stepped back. I went to look at the sweaters and only then realized what had struck me so unpleasantly: THE PEOPLE IN THE ELEVATOR DID NOT HAVE AURs.
While I was looking at the sweaters, which attracted me with a bright red color, the color of strength and energy, the elevator cable broke - the cabin fell to the bottom and all the passengers were killed.
Now it is clear to you what role the ability to see auras will play when it becomes public domain. Danger of catastrophe, accidents, death - cannot sneak up unexpectedly. You will see them ahead of time, and, like the seers of the past, you will know in advance and correctly meet your death, understanding its true meaning.
It is difficult to imagine such a world where everyone sees those around them, their shortcomings, virtues, weaknesses and strengths of nature, illness, approaching misfortunes or success. We will understand that others see us, and we will completely change our essence, since how many vices will remain with us if all of them are known to everyone?
And one more digression about our future possibilities before we return to the more prosaic present. Another friend of mine who sees auras told me the following:
"When I talk to a person and he expresses an opinion that has developed in one of his past lives, I see in his aura a figure that is a reflection of who he was during this period - I see, say, the figure of a Greek or an Egyptian: in a word, whoever he is. As soon as the conversation turns to another topic and the point of view that has developed in this incarnation is no longer required, the figure disappears. Then he says something else. For example, he states: "I always liked Italy and I would like to go there," and while he is talking, I see the figure of a Renaissance man and an ancient Roman.
During one such conversation, I can see six or eight figures.
What is this, if not the "book of Incarnations", only without explanations and instructions? It sounds so strange that I was very skeptical about what I heard, until one day, at dusk, sitting on the porch of my friend, I myself saw something similar. My friend was passionately explaining something about English history to a group of people. In his aura I saw the figure of a young monk and remembered that among the "interpreted" incarnations of my friend there was an English monk.
"What's the use of most people's auras if they can't see them anyway?" - you ask. I think most people see them but don't realize it. It seems to me that you can always roughly determine the aura, if you notice what colors he usually prefers in the interior.
How many times have you said about a woman: "Why does she wear this color? It doesn't suit her at all!" How many times have we said "How wonderful she looks in this dress. It's just her color. She's just made for it." In both this and the other case, you spoke of auras. The color of the first woman was out of harmony with her aura. The second - well combined with the aura.
You all know what colors suit your friend, make him more interesting. These are all colors that have the same wavelength as his aura and thus make it more intense and brighter. If you watch longer, you will even notice a change in your friend, because. they will be reflected in the color of their preferred clothing.
Let me give you an example of how the state of health of a person who preferred blue from childhood changed - I often saw him in blue suits, blue ties and even blue socks. One day he went to the store to buy a tie. He himself was surprised to find that he had selected a few ties of maroon, he was even more surprised when, over time, he began to prefer shirts with red stripes, and ties and handkerchiefs in various shades of scarlet. This went on for several years, during which he became increasingly nervous and depressed. He worked too hard, eventually he developed a nervous breakdown.
All this time, the amount of red color was increasing in his aura. Now gray - the color of the disease began to penetrate into the red, but when he finally recovered, the gray disappeared, and then the blue began to overcome the red. Finally, the red was defeated and the man completely came to his senses.
Never again did he wear red, or scarlet, or burgundy.
In another case, a woman dressed in green or yellow decided to buy a dress from a shop that she had been wearing for years. The hostess brought her some dresses, but seemed puzzled as she helped her try on the dresses. "I don't know what's the matter," said the hostess, "but something red or pink is required. I never would have thought you could wear those colors, but they seem to be asking for it now." In the end, the woman bought a dress with red stripes. A month later she was admitted to the hospital with a nervous illness. She recovered and continued to use the same store, but the owner never again offered her red or pink flowers.
