Sling ss what. Absolutely everything you wanted to know about ring slings and did not know where to read. General rules for choosing the "first" sling

Of course, it is very difficult make choices when to navigate for the season of the child's birth, his exemplary weight, temperature of the habitat, family budget, physical condition of the parent, the purpose of the sling, mom's wardrobe, just a desire and a favorite color.

Our hypermarket team slings the site tried to systematize the available information, which resulted in writing a review article on the topic: "Choice with linga for a newborn.

General rules for choosing the "first" sling:

1. Purpose of purchase

Before you drown in a sea of information and pictures, you should determine for yourself why you need a carrier. At least for a start. Start from the current problem or situation.

Because it’s impossible to pick up one sling, “so that it’s comfortable on the plane, and go to the beach in hot Egypt, and pick berries in the country, and it’s not cold to get to the clinic in winter,” it’s impossible to pick up. Moreover, “the most inexpensive, and so that it looks modern, and the husband could wear it. The child is 1.5 months old. We were advised some linen. What do you think???"

Hands drop, words disappear.

Do not try to buy the only sling for all occasions and for all future children. Decide: why do you need it now and in the first place!
Traveling with a baby, going to work / errands, taking an older child to kindergarten / developmental activities, satisfying an increased need for breastfeeding, carrying belly to stomach during evening colic, doing many hours of household chores is one thing.

Running to the store, to the clinic, warming up lunch, rocking the child to sleep, walking to the car or the beach is another thing.

2. Type of carrying

To make the right choice between (ssk), (scarf), (may), or (hopefully not) for your baby, you need to have a basic understanding of all types of carriers and the physiology of newborns.

Our little summary:

Woven sling scarf

Woven sling scarf – optimal for babies, well suited for long walks. The scarf evenly distributes the load on the shoulders and lower back of the parent, it is always possible to breastfeed and lull the baby.

Due to the special weaving of the threads (double diagonal weaving), when the fabric does not stretch along or across, but diagonally, in scarves, the possibility of a tight attraction of the newborn to the parent, thorough adjustment of the sling and support of all parts of the spine and neck of the child are best ensured.

In a scarf, you can wear a child in horizontal and vertical positions.

Slings-scarves come in several sizes depending on their length.

For a slender and short mother (up to size 44), you can take size 5 (length 4.2). But for additional lumbar support, it is better to take a 4.7 meter sling (6-ku), then it will be possible to bring the ends of the sling forward.

For mom 44-48 fit size 6 (4.7 meters).

For mom from size 50 - 7 (5.2 meters).

Sling with rings

Sling with rings will also serve as a great help to you. Due to the speed of dressing, it is convenient to use it for short runs (from the car to the house, from the house to the beach, for example), to do household chores. A sling with rings is also good because you can easily put the baby away with the carrier without waking him up by unwinding.

Your choice of ssk (sling with rings) should be stopped on the option of scarf fabric, without compacted sides, with rings of large diameter and an unsewn tail. So you will have a better chance of learning how to attract the newborn well, adjust the fabric in the rings and straighten it.

The ssk can be worn in a horizontal and vertical position.

When buying a good (scarf fabric, without sides and with an open tail) sling with rings, sizing for moms with clothing sizes from 42 to 48 is largely a matter of personal preference of the wearer: whether you like a longer or shorter tail in cc. For mothers with larger sizes of clothes, it is better to choose a larger size for yourself. You should also pay attention to the fact that the length of standard M-s from different manufacturers can vary quite a lot, which means that if possible, it is better to try on a sling before making a final purchase decision.

Sharfomai (mai-sling made of scarf fabric)

scarfomai attracts by the speed of winding and a more modern look. May-sling is better to have not as a first carrier, but in addition to a scarf or a sling with rings. May-sling can be worn with a baby in the "quick walk to the store" mode, and the full and longer use of May should be started from 4 months.

May-sling for a baby is also worth buying from scarf fabric, with wide straps and with the possibility of good adjustment in width and height of the back. In a scarf, it is better to learn to wear it in an upright position. The horizontal position of the "cradle" with completely newborns is best used by experienced sling mothers who know how to straighten excess may-sling fabric and ensure even distribution of the load on the baby's back.

3. Budget

Make a budget for buying a baby sling. And choose from the highest price segment for you. Your comfort and the formation of winding skills depend on the quality of the sling and its composition. And high-quality carriers made of mercerized cotton, as a rule, cost more than Vologda linen, but they will not leave you indifferent and will not seem rude or unyielding.

4. Style

Choose your favorite color or pattern based on your wardrobe or just your preferences. A baby in a carrier will involuntarily attract the views of others. You will be pleased if the sling does not look like just a piece of fabric, but a stylish accessory that emphasizes the color of your eyes or creates the integrity of your image.

5. Composition

But perhaps the most important criterion in choosing a sling for a newborn is what it is made of. The composition of a scarf, scarf or sling with rings determines their lightness, breathability, plasticity and huggability.
The existence of slings from different materials and mixed composition is due to the desire to create carriers for different needs and parameters of a parent-child pair. It is thanks to the different composition and weaving that you can choose a sling for a fluffy newborn and a heavy child runner, for hot summers and harsh winters, for a weak mother's back and hardy father's shoulders, for back windings or rebozos.

Every sophisticated sling mom has a list of silk-cashmere-bamboo slings that she would buy for the birth of her next baby.
But, if you are just planning to become a sling, our team recommends buying the first 100% cotton sling in medium thickness to fill your hand, learn how to wind and experience joy from the first days of wearing. Indeed, often very thin and plastic scarves cannot cope with winding errors, they begin to crawl and cease to properly fix the position of the child.

But after 2 months of practice, training and daily baby wear, while your baby is still a baby, you should definitely try dessert in the form of silk and bamboo scarves.

Let's take a closer look at slings made of different materials suitable for newborns and babies:

100% cotton slings- a compromise between the tenderness of silk scarves and the holding, non-slipping of thick linens. Cotton slings offer plasticity, breathability and the possibility of good adjustment on the one hand, and the stability of even not very careful winding, on the other.

Manufacturers: , and etc.

6. Quantity

Although everyone is looking for a sling for a newborn, it would be more correct to look for slings. At least two pieces. Here are a few combinations in which two slings are inseparable from each other and act as indispensable helpers for mom:

1. One for home, one for outdoor.

Coming home from the metro / minibus / bus / car, clinic or guests, it is so nice to lull a child in a “home” scarf, ssk or scarf, smelling of comfort and tranquility. And you won’t wrap a naked baby in a soiled street sling.

2. One scarf, another sling with rings.

For different tasks - different slings.

For tiring walks around the city, trips by public transport, hiking and traveling, a scarf is ideal. Quickly change the position in the sling from vertical to horizontal, put the baby to bed, make purchases in the nearest store - for this it is better to use a sling with rings.

3. For dad and mom.

One type of sling is bright and elegant for mom, the other is discreet and versatile for dad.

You can also mention about the situation of the birth of twins, “one sling is washed off - dries, the other is worn”, “a separate sling for each mother’s outfit”, but we will not do this. And so everything is clear :)

Using a similar algorithm, your own sense of taste and the flow of information from the slingomam community, the community of scarf sling lovers and other sling communities and sites, you can choose the first sling to make your life easier, freedom of movement and closeness with your baby.

Here is a small example-illustration of how the algorithm we proposed can be used:

1. Purpose: I need a sling to take my older child to developmental activities, walk with both children daily + I want to establish breastfeeding and feed on demand.

2. Type of sling and size: Because I will have to walk long and often, and right from birth, so I will take a sling scarf.

I am a size 44, so I choose a 6-ku (4.7 meters).

3. Budget: 4000 - 4500 rubles.

4. Style: I want something in the color of the sea wave under the breastfeeding dress and summer raincoat.

5. Composition: No experience, I'll start with 100% cotton.

6. Quantity: I only have money for a scarf, I'll rent it.

Small F.A.Q. baby slings:

1 . But what is still better for a newborn: a sling with rings or a sling scarf?

The question is incorrect, because these carriers cannot be compared in this way. These are equally useful devices for different situations and conditions.
If you are still in doubt, then buy a woven sling scarf. This is a carrier that has no drawbacks (and the fear of windings and the length of the fabric is the first impression (exaggerated besides), which passes very quickly, it is worth watching video master classes, attending a sling meeting or visiting a sling showroom).

2. Is it possible to carry a baby in an ergonomic backpack with a special insert for newborns?

Many manufacturers do offer to buy special inserts in ergo backpacks or put a diaper inside to reduce the volume of the carrier so that the newborn does not fall out of there and for a tighter attraction.

In fact, this is not an option at all. Firstly, this insert does not add more huggability to the backpack, but simply flattens the child closer to the mother. The ergo backpack still has excessive attraction in the shoulder area (in the places where the straps are attached), but the upper and lower parts of the child's spine remain poorly attracted without the possibility of adjustment and tension. In addition, the baby with this insert is very hot.

It is very good for mastering the basics of babywearing: different windings, straightening the fabric, tying knots, and so on. But a knitted scarf is a sling for a very short time (for a couple of months, up to about 6 kg), because when a child reaches a certain weight, it becomes difficult to wear it (knitted fabric stretches a lot under weight). In addition, it is hotter in a knitted scarf than in a woven cotton one. Ideally, buy knitwear during pregnancy, train your husband and relatives on it, and with the birth of a child, purchase a woven sling scarf.
4. The sling scarf scares me, it is so long and so difficult to wrap. I will never master. What should I do?

The complexity of the scarf is greatly exaggerated. For a newborn, you will need to master one or two simple windings. This can be done through video tutorials, at a sling meeting or in a sling showroom. If you are still afraid of not coping and doing something wrong, then you can always invite a sling consultant to your home, who will explain to you the basics of baby wearing and teach you how to wind the sling and adjust it correctly.

5. Can I wear in a sling "facing the world"?

The answer to this question is well stated in the article Sling and the position "facing the world" on the portal mama.tomsk

In short, the "facing the world" position of the baby deprives the sling of its benefits of good support and comfort, and the child can be adversely affected by the abundance of impressions and visual information.

6. Can twins be carried in a sling? How many slings do you need for this?

Necessary! You can wear twins in slings in combination: one parent - one child. Then you need two slings: ss or scarves.

If a mother plans to carry two children on herself at the same time, then you can learn how to wind two children in one scarf (together in the position on the stomach or one on the stomach, one behind the back) or buy 2 slings-scarves: one for the back winding, one for the position front.

7. How long can I wear a newborn in a sling?
The duration of babywearing for newborn babies depends on the needs of mother and child.
Some children need long-term babywearing, while others want to quickly change position and look around. But in general, newborns are worn in a sling as much as in their arms.
The main rule for wearing baby slings is that an awake baby needs to be taken out of the sling to warm up, exercise and change position approximately every hour. With a sleeping baby, you can do these manipulations after waking up.

8. Can I wear a newborn in a sling in winter?

It is possible and necessary! For a comfortable winter sling wearing of a newborn, a couple of additional purchases will be required: namely, a special insert in a mother's jacket or one that will warm mother and baby in a sling. And for the period of frost with elongated legs for ease of wearing.

All slingomams, future and present, are faced with the problem of choosing a sling for a newborn. There is an unimaginable amount of slings, information and reviews too. After reading thematic posts, only questions remain in my head instead of clarity: a scarf or May? With silk or linen? Short or long? 6 or 5? Didymos or Elleville?

Of course, it is very difficult to make a choice when you need to focus on the season of the birth of the child, its approximate weight, the temperature of the habitat, the family budget, the physical condition of the parent, the purpose of the sling, the mother's wardrobe, just a desire and a favorite color. But it's possible! :)

General rules for choosing the "first" sling:

1. Purpose of purchase

Before drowning in a sea of information and pictures, it's worth it for yourself determine why you need a carrier. At least for a start. Start from the current problem or situation.

If a balanced decision does not come to mind, you want both, feel free to rent a sling and try, try, try!

2. Type of carrying

To make the right choice between a ring sling (cc), a scarf sling (scarf), a mai sling (mai), an ergonomic backpack or (hopefully not) a baby carrier for your baby, you need to have a general understanding of all types of carriers and the physiology of newborns. You can learn this knowledge from the articles of the slingomam community, on our website and other resources. For example,

However, we can bring some summary: we advise you to stop your choice on a scarf, a sling with rings (SSK) and a scarf fabric mai-sling (sharfomai).

Woven sling scarf - the perfect carrier for newborns and babies well suited for long walks. The scarf evenly distributes the load on the shoulders and lower back of the parent, it is always possible to breastfeed and lull the baby.

Sharfomai (mai-sling made of scarf fabric) attracts by the speed of winding and a more modern look. It is better to have a May-sling not as the main carrier, but in addition to a scarf or a sling with rings, since not every May-sling is ideal for a newborn, but from 2 months old it will be good for almost any baby.

May-sling for a baby should also be bought from scarf fabric, with wide straps (but not necessary) and with the possibility of good adjustment in width and height of the back. The latter is very important, because allows you to adjust the sling to the baby.

And high-quality carriers made of mercerized cotton, silk, bamboo, as a rule, cost more than ordinary linen from the store, but they will not leave you indifferent and will not seem rough, tough or unyielding.

But, if you are just planning to become a sling or do not plan to buy several slings, we recommend buying the first sling made of 100% medium-weight cotton to fill your hand, learn how to wind and experience joy from the first days of wearing. And plump and thick, on the contrary, feel excessively voluminous.

Let's take a closer look at slings made of different materials suitable for newborns and babies:

Example: Elleville Caelum He

Can I wear in a sling "facing the world"?

The answer to this question is well stated in the article on the portal site

In short, the position of the child "facing the world" deprives the sling of its advantages of good physiological support and comfort, and the abundance of impressions and visual information can adversely affect the child.

Can twins be carried in a sling? How many slings do you need for this?

How long can a newborn be worn in a sling?

The duration of babywearing for newborn babies depends on the needs of mother and child.

Some children need long-term babywearing, while others want to quickly change position and look around. But in general, newborns are worn in a sling as much as in their arms.

The main rule for wearing baby slings is that an awake baby needs to be taken out of the sling to warm up, exercise and change position approximately every hour. With a sleeping baby, you can do these manipulations after waking up.

Many ladies, “studying materiel” during pregnancy and preparing to become the best mother for their unborn baby, suddenly discover a hitherto unknown world - a world where children are pressed to their hearts, but at the same time they have free hands for other activities. I'm talking about the world of slings, slingomams and sling babies.

At first, when you read the relevant forums and communities, it seems that with each new phrase you get even more confused. Rebozo? Is it such a rag or is it a way of winding it? PDA - is it not a pocket computer? And headlines like “I’ll buy holding cannabis” at first evoke thoughts of illegal acts.

Naturally, like any other rather isolated culture (and babywearing is in many ways just a culture), there is a certain system of concepts and terms. In addition, the specifics of slingomam communication (it takes place in a confidential manner and occurs mainly on the Internet or in personal meetings) determines the presence of a rather large number of variations of the same terms.

It is often difficult for a beginner to catch all these nuances, and after an hour or two of studying the issue, it begins to seem that there are an infinite number of types of slings and their windings, and learning to deal with them is certainly no easier than disassembling and assembling a car engine.

However, in reality, everything is much simpler. To prove this, let's try to compile a kind of dictionary of sling terms to help all conscientious novice sling moms who want to quickly get used to this beautiful and new world for them.

So the main characters...

Slingomam- a mother who has carried, is wearing or is about to carry a child using any type of sling.

slingpapa- the same as slingomam, only dad))

Slingozhitel- a happy child of a sling mom, a participant in endless experiments with windings, or just someone who sits in a pond in a sling. It often appears as "passenger","heavyweight", "runner","snoopy".

According to eyewitnesses, there are also baby sling And baby sling who could osling(that is, to attach to the culture of babywearing) babysitters.

...and their SLINGS!

Sling- an accessory designed to carry and feed a child in a physiological position. There are many types of slings: sling-scarf (SSH), sling with rings (SSK), sling backpack (ergonomic backpack), mai-sling, hipsit, sling-pocket, puppen.

Sling scarf (US)- this is a piece of fabric about 50-70 cm wide and 2.5 to 6 meters long, designed to carry a child in various positions, determined by different winding methods (from the combination "wind a scarf"). In terms of fabric types, SSH are woven (Jacquard, diamond weaving is used) and knitted.

Sling with rings (SSK)- This is a type of sling, which is a piece of a woven sling-scarf about 2 meters long with specially processed edges and rings sewn on one side. It is relatively easy to use. SSK are factory-made (native) and self-sewn (from cuts of long scarves). SSK can differ in length, the presence / absence of compacted sides, the cut of the shoulder (the part of the sling where the rings are sewn).

Slingbackpack- an accessory for carrying children with adjustable shoulder straps and a wide waistband. As a rule, it is used no earlier than from 3-4 months. Same as "ergonomic backpack", "ergo".

Backpack- 1) the same as a sling or ergo backpack; 2) the method of back winding of the sling-scarf.

May-sling (May)- a kind of combination of a scarf and a sling backpack, in which the function of straps and a belt is performed by narrow (about 10 cm) long strips of fabric sewn to a dense rectangle-back. Allows various winding methods. In factory production, it is sewn from dense cotton fabrics (not scarves). Homemade options made from cuts of sling scarves are called "scarfs" and, as a rule, have wider (up to 30 cm) straps.

hipsit(from the English hip (thigh) and seat (seat)) - an accessory for carrying children on the hip that does not require winding. As a rule, it has the form of a wide adjustable belt with a special reinforced insert - a "shelf" for the child, which imitates the parent's hip exposed to the side and allows you to keep your back straight.

Sling pocket- this is a fabric ring with a specially tailored element ("smile"), thanks to which the child is supported in the required position. Considered a "quick" type of sling to put on. In general, it is similar to a sling with rings, but instead of rings and folds, the shoulders are regulated by direct folding of the fabric.

rebozo- 1) a short sling scarf (shorty) about 2.5 meters long, used, as a rule, for wearing grown-up babies and for single-layer windings; 2) type of winding, in which a double knot is made on the shoulder in advance, after which it becomes possible to use a short scarf similar to a sling with rings. At the same time, the winding is symmetrical and does not require pulling when changing the shoulder.

Shorty- a short sling scarf (less than 3.5 m long), as a rule, which is a cut of a once longer sling scarf. Used for simplified windings.

Puppen- a baby sling, a toy made of sling fabric and imitating a full-size sling. Usually, children, copying the behavior of their parents, wrap their favorite toys with the help of puppen and cradle them in every possible way.

For slings-scarves, one of the most important points when using is the winding technique. To master this tricky art, you will need training and knowledge of the basic concepts:

Pocket- that part of the scarf where the child is directly placed.

Cross- crossed scarf fabrics that fix the pocket and the baby in the sling.

Knot- a method of fixing a wound and straightened scarf. It can be single, double, can be tied in front, back and side, depending on the winding, the length of the scarf and the preferences of the slinger.

Tails (ends)- the remains of the scarf, hanging freely after tying the knot. As a rule, the edges of the scarf are not straight. (bevels), therefore, it is recommended to leave precisely these beveled parts as tails, and not tie a knot directly on them.

middle mark- a label sewn to the scarf in the middle of the length (in older models it is not located exactly in the middle). Serves as a starting point for many windings, helps to start winding symmetrically.

Accordingly, depending on the combination of these winding elements, its type and name depend. Here are the main names and abbreviations:

PDA - cross under the pocket, winding, in which the canvases cross under the pocket (in a vertical position). This winding is mainly used with knitted scarves, because it is quite difficult to adjust.

KNK - cross over pocket, winding, in which the canvases cross and straighten directly over the pocket, providing a tighter fixation and less airflow (the back of the child is covered with several layers of fabric).

Jordan- a type of back winding, in which a horizontal pocket is not made, and the child is supported by successively crossed and straightened canvases, while on the shoulders of the parent there is some kind of straps of a classic backpack.

Cradle- type of winding, in which the child lies on his side facing the parent. Often used for newborns. It can be performed in different versions and with different lengths of the scarf.

Here, in fact, are the main important theoretical concepts that can be useful when mastering babywearing. When you more or less start to understand them and finally decide on the type of sling you want, the most pleasant moment comes - preparation for buying a device. There is already room for fantasy! You can choose color, pattern, size, material, manufacturer, degree of wear. But, surprisingly, it is at this stage that the biggest stream of confusing information falls on the head of a novice slingomam.

Often in thematic communities one can see requests for help with the choice of a sling, in which mothers who are completely confused and stunned by the variety ask mainly to send pictures, since the numerous names of manufacturers and individual models do not tell them anything. As a result, such a pleasant and exciting process of finding your first "beauty" ends with the purchase of any suitable color or price.

Let's try to figure it out in order. What is generally discussed when choosing a sling? First, the properties of the fabric:

performance characteristics- an abbreviation that came, apparently, from the field of military technology. In the original, "tactical and technical characteristics." With regard to slings, when talking about performance characteristics, they mean their main properties (thickness, fabric endurance, comfort of winding and wearing). Consequently, "flaws that do not affect performance characteristics"- these are either purely cosmetic (stains, color damage, spools, hooks), or structural defects (factory weaving failures, a small amount of torn threads).

holding ability- a property of the sling fabric that allows you to carry large and heavy babies with maximum comfort for the mother. holding- the same as "lifting", "strong", "hardy". Also found in variant "mega-holding".

"Truck"- holding sling for heavyweights.

Loose- such a sling, the fabric of which, despite the relatively large thickness, is well blown.

huggable- worn soft scarf, pleasant to the touch.

"Deryuzhka"- A sling with a high content of linen, as a rule, in the form of a new one, requires breaking in to become softer.

Also found is the often cryptic abbreviation BNIB, which in fact means that the sling is brand new (from the English BNIB - brand new in box - the product has not been removed from the factory packaging).

Secondly, the composition of the fabric. Here, the layman almost everything is clear. Wool, silk, cotton, linen, cashmere, bamboo, hemp in different proportions give the fabric certain properties that are useful under various conditions of use. It is worth mentioning separately not the most common natural materials for fabrics. These include:

  • tussa - wild silk;
  • kapok - light fiber (lighter and thinner than cotton) from the fruits of the ceiba tree;
  • ramie - Chinese nettle, used to create durable fabrics, gives a sheen similar to silk.

Some scarves that are especially rare and beloved for their combination of materials even have special abbreviations. For example, SKE These are silk-cashmere ellipses from Didymos.

An important point for many slings is the manufacturer of the sling. Naturally, there are quite a few of them. Let's just talk about the main ones.

Popular manufacturers of slings-scarves and slings with rings:

Didymos (Didymos)- perhaps the most famous and revered manufacturer of slings. Germany. Lovingly named by fans "didi", "didik". Due to the large assortment of patterns and colors, it often appears as the names of individual series: Nino(ninks, twins) Waves, Ellipses, Peacocks, indio(small geometric pattern), Fishes, Nautilus(shells), geckos, Nepomuk(dragons), etc.

Elleville- Norwegian manufacturer of slings, very popular due to its democratic pricing policy and the presence of an official representative office in Russia. Also often found in the form of titles of individual series: Zara(Zara) Paisley(Elleville cucumbers, composed of silk, bamboo), Karma(organic cotton, "waffle" fabric), Jade, Caelum(series with silk).

Oscha (Osha) is a recently very fashionable manufacturer of slings from Scotland, the slings of this company are usually of very good quality fabrics, however, they are quite expensive due to difficulties with ordering and delivery.

Girasol (Girasol)- a popular company that produces slings in Germany. He often uses a pattern in the form of a combination of multi-colored stripes, for which they are sometimes also called "mines", some models of scarves in the line are numbered (for example, Girasol No. 5).

Nati (Nati) is a Polish company that produces slings with original patterns (mainly vegetable), which are sold relatively inexpensively in Russia.

Vatanai (Vatanai)- slings from the Czech Republic, which are valued for their quality and original design.

Gypsymama (Gypsimama)- one of the best manufacturers of knitted slings, which are recommended as slings for beginners.

TM "Echidna" (t-shirts with prints), TM "Mum's Era" (everything else)- Russian manufacturer of slings and clothing for feeding, attracts slings with low prices for products and quality comparable to European counterparts.

Aesthetics- domestic manufacturer of budget slings of decent quality.

Orsha flax- this is not a company, but a material for the manufacture of self-sewn scarves (correct weaving). It is bought by craftswomen to create custom-made products, it is inexpensive, however, like other linen, it requires a long wear-in.

And these are just some manufacturers of scarves, but there are also Hoppediz (Hoppedits, Hopp), Medley (Medley), Neobulle (Neobul), Hartiness, Diva Milano and many others.

Separately, we should mention the most popular manufacturers of ergonomic backpacks and hipsters:

Ergo (Ergo)- the manufacturer of classic baby carriers, as a rule, does not allow the straps to be crossed on the back, but we respect the quality of tailoring and the assortment.

Manduca (Manduca)- a German manufacturer of ergonomic backpacks, loved by baby carriers for the quality of workmanship and bright colors with ornaments.

Pognae (Ponye)- the most popular and respected manufacturer of hipseats.

And finally, many mothers pay special attention to the color of the sling and the pattern on it. Here, of course, everyone chooses according to their taste. There are a huge number of colors, so the ability to determine by one name without a picture to imagine the proposed scarf or backpack comes only with the experience of a long stay in the information space of the sling community. Look at the pictures more often, trying to correlate them with certain names, and after a while you will certainly not confuse wine peacocks with petrol ones, and Zara Forrest with Medley Les.

Well, in conclusion, we simply must warn you about the side effects of immersing yourself in the wonderful world of slings. We regret to admit that for many this is a direct path to a serious and difficult to treat illness. It's called "scarf" and proceeds, although without visible harm to health, but with significant damage to the family budget. It’s just that at some point the slingomam gets used to the terms and assortment so much that she begins to clearly understand how much she still needs for sling happiness, which is why she falls ill with slingomelancholy and begins to save money for more and more new models of slings. However, this disease passes with time (someday all slingers run away), and therefore, is not deadly. We hope that your scarf shape will be light, pleasant and surprisingly beautiful, and our dictionary will help you quickly find the very sling that your baby will make friends with.

Anna Simon especially for Puzo Peanut.

Ring sling (RRS) is the most common and simple type of sling. It is a strip of fabric about 2 meters long and 75-80 cm wide, on one side of which 2 metal rings are sewn. Designed to carry children from birth to 2-3 years.

SSC can be divided into 2 large groups:

1. SSK with sides.

2. SSK without sides.

At SSK with sides, soft inserts made of foam rubber or padding polyester are sewn in along the edges of the panel. Because of these inserts, RCS with rims come in different sizes and are selected depending on the size of the parent's clothing, so that the child is also tightly drawn in and does not have to be pulled into the rings.

If you have an intermediate size, it is better to choose a smaller sling.

The main advantage of SSK with sides is an additional soft padding under the head and legs of the child (sling sides).

When choosing a sling with sides, pay attention to the filler of the sides. Preferably slings with sides made of synthetic winterizer. Slings with thick sides made of foam rubber are less functional and are often simply uncomfortable (for example, it is difficult to fix the baby's head in the cradle position with a thick side).

Ring slings without collars are universal slings. This sling can be used by all family members, regardless of their size.

The next important (in my opinion the most important) characteristic of the SSK is the fabric from which it is sewn. The best slings are made from scarf fabric or double diagonal weave fabric. Twill fabrics work well too. Such a fabric does not stretch in length and width, but it stretches well diagonally, thanks to which it gently fits mom and baby, does not crash anywhere and holds weight well. However, double weave slings are the most expensive.

More budget options for SSK are sewn from coarse calico, satin. Made of high quality satin, the SSCs are very soft, silky and pleasant to the touch, ideal for newborns.

Do not take slings made of jeans, velveteen and other similar hard, dense fabrics. They are inconvenient to adjust (they are difficult to pull through the rings), they drape poorly on the shoulder and back of the wearer. Unpleasant for the skin of a child.

Of course, for slings it is best to use a fabric made from natural fibers: cotton, linen, viscose (viscose is made from cellulose).

But it must be borne in mind that linen slings are often initially harsh and require “breaking in”. They are recommended to be washed several times, twisted, pulled through the rings. In the process of wearing, they will become soft and will delight you with all the useful and pleasant properties of linen.

When purchasing a cotton sling, avoid heavy, special-purpose fabrics such as teak. Such fabrics are stiff and poorly breathable. Coarse calico or satin are best suited.

The best are aluminum rings (Own burden, Sling Rings) they are lighter than steel and come in a wide variety of colors.

If steel rings are used in the sling, please note that they are cast, not bent from steel wire, without joints and mold marks.

Plastic rings in a sling should be treated very carefully, it is very important that these are rings from trusted manufacturers (Carrrot, Sling Rings). Poor-quality plastic rings can crack during wear or from temperature changes.

Rings for slings come in different diameters: from 5 to 8 cm. Small rings 5-6 cm are designed for thin light fabrics (viscose, satin). Larger rings 7-8 cm are suitable for scarves, twill linen, etc. In principle, the larger the diameter of the ring, the easier it is to adjust the sling. But on the other hand, thin and smooth fabric can slip in large rings under the weight of the child, and you will have to constantly tighten the sling.

Now about such design features as shoulder pads and pockets. The pillow is designed to relieve the pressure of the fabric on the wearer's shoulder. But it is very important that it is well tailored and fits comfortably on the shoulder. A pillow of an unsuccessful cut will slip, crush and only interfere with you. Often the simple, unstitched shoulder of a sling is the most comfortable. allows you to adjust the width of the strip of fabric on the shoulder and back, depending on the features of your figure.

Pockets. Often on the tail of the sling there are pockets for small things. This is a very convenient option that allows you to always keep tissues, phone or keys close at hand. The main thing is that the tail of your sling should not be stitched into a narrow strip, but it is best to remain the same width as the main fabric of the sling. A sling with a striped tail is almost impossible to adjust.

Lining. Ring slings can be lined or unlined. Usually, slings are made of thin fabrics with a lining; a sling made of double diagonal weaving fabric (scarf fabric) does not require a lining. In such a sling, the lining may even be superfluous and will impair the ability of the fabric to stretch and fit you softly.

And a separate word about carrying bags or pseudo-slings. Very often on sale such designs are called slings, moreover, at first glance they look like slings with rings, but they have a main difference from real slings with rings. Pseudo slings don't have rings! Often they are equipped with a bunch of fastexes, locks, laces, mattresses, but not rings!

Now on the market there is a huge variety of slings with rings. I really hope that this article will help you understand all the offers and make the right choice.
