Specifications Tiguan 2.0 gasoline. Volkswagen Tiguan engine, specifications of Volkswagen Tiguan engines. Comparison with averages

The 1st generation Volkswagen Tiguan crossover (2011 restyling) is based on a platform from the Golf Plus compact minivan. In Europe, the car is offered with seven power plants: four petrol and three diesel. There are fewer engines on the Russian market, and the cars themselves are assembled at a plant in Kaluga. The Tiguan engine range is made up of only high-performance turbo units, which allows the model to demonstrate good dynamic performance, backed up by excellent handling.

Domestic motorists are offered the following engines to choose from:

  • 1.4 TSI 122 hp, 200 Nm;
  • 1.4 TSI 150 HP, 240 Nm;
  • 2.0 TSI 180 hp, 280 Nm;
  • 2.0 TSI 210 HP, 280 Nm.

Crossovers equipped with 1.4-liter units are available in front-wheel drive. Starting engine 122 hp it is equipped with a 6-speed manual, and the 150-horsepower engine is paired with a 6-band DSG “robot”. Volkswagen Tiguan modifications with 2.0-liter TSI have more off-road potential, as they have a 4Motion all-wheel drive transmission. Gearboxes available for the 2.0 TSI are an Aisin 6-speed automatic and a 7DSG dual-clutch robot.

The ground clearance of the Tiguan SUV is 200 mm. For lovers of off-road sorties, a special version of Track&Field has been prepared, which, along with all-wheel drive, is equipped with a front bumper cut from below, which significantly increases the angle of entry (from 18 to 28 degrees). Also available is a functional Off-Road mode, which adjusts the operation of the engine and gearbox for driving on heavily rugged terrain.

If it speaks of fuel efficiency, then Tiguan with a base engine 1.4 TSI 122 hp saves best of all. and 6MKPP. This version consumes an average of about 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers. A slightly more voracious car with a 150-horsepower engine and DSG - 7.1 l / 100 km. The fuel consumption of the Volkswagen Tiguan with the most powerful 2.0 TSI turbo fours is in the region of 8.4-8.7 liters.

Volkswagen Tiguan engine in the Russian version of the crossover it is an in-line 4-cylinder engine with a 16-valve timing mechanism (DOHC). The engine range of Volkswagen Tiguan power units today is a set of gasoline turbo engines with a working volume of 1.4 and 2 liters of various capacities, plus there is a 2-liter diesel engine.

Tiguan 1.4 TSI engines with a capacity of 122 and 150 horsepower are also installed on the Jetta sedan. Their detailed technical description is offered. We will talk about more powerful power units with a working volume of 2 liters. This is a Tiguan 2.0 TSI engine with a power of 170 hp. and 200 hp Actually structurally, the engines are similar, the difference is in the performance of the turbine. For a power unit of 170 hp they put a BorgWarner K03 turbine on a 200 hp engine. put the KKK K04 turbine. Basically, the device of a 2 liter Volkswagen Tiguan engine of different capacities is identical.

So 2.0TSI, it is an in-line 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine with a cast-iron cylinder block and an aluminum cylinder head. AT timing belt is worth. In the event of a belt break, the valve bends without fail. Hydraulic compensators provide a normal thermal clearance in the valve mechanism. There are phase shifters on the intake shaft, direct fuel injection, directly into the combustion chamber. This engine has a lot of modifications with a capacity of 170 to 265 horsepower and is installed on various models of Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda. Perhaps the most economical Diesel Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TDI with a common rail injection system, which also has a large torque of 320 Nm.

cylinder head Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0L TDI diesel engine with common rail injection system is made of aluminum and has a design with a cross-flow of gases, two intake and two exhaust valves per cylinder. Valves are located vertically and are directed downwards. Two camshafts are located on top and are connected by a gear train with a spur gear that has a built-in gap compensator between the gear teeth. The timing is driven from the crankshaft using a toothed belt and a toothed pulley on the exhaust camshaft. The valves are actuated by low friction roller levers equipped with hydraulic compensators.

This motor uses an interesting timing drive scheme. The belt synchronizes the rotation of one camshaft with the crankshaft. And the second camshaft is synchronized with the first due to the gears on the camshafts. Further more detailed Specifications Tiguan 2.0 TDI

Reliability, problems and repair of 2.0 TSI engines

Early 2008 based on EA888 1.8 TSI 1st generation Volkswagen 2.0 TSI engines of the same 1st generation were created. These included CAWA, CAWB, CBFA, CCTA and CCTB motors. They were supposed to replace the previous generation 2.0TFSI EA113 series. It uses a cast-iron cylinder block 220 mm high with a crankshaft with a piston stroke of 92.8 mm, connecting rods 144 mm long, pistons 29.6 mm high, compression ratio 9.6. As a result, 2 liters of working volume were obtained.

On top is a 2-shaft 16-valve aluminum head. The intake valves are 34mm in diameter, the exhaust valves are 28mm, and the stem diameter is 6mm. At the inlet, a variable valve timing system is used, and the camshafts rotate through the timing chain.
2.0 TSI engines use direct fuel injection (homogeneous mixture). It has an intake manifold with swirl flaps and new injectors (compared to 2.0 TFSI).

The 2.0 TSI turbine is KKK K03, boost pressure is 0.6 bar, and controls the entire Bosch Motronic MED 17.5 ECU. CAWB and CAWA engines comply with Euro 4 emission standards, and their direct counterparts CCTA and CCTB are ULEV 2 and have 2 lambda probes. CBFA was also produced, which was an analogue of CCTA, but for California, under SULEV standards. It already has 3 lambda probes and a secondary air supply system.

CAWB, CBFA and CCTA motors develop 200 hp. at 5100-6000 rpm, torque 280 Nm at 1700-5000 rpm. CAWA and CCTB engines differ in firmware and have 170 hp. at 4300-6000 rpm, torque 280 Nm at 1700-5000 rpm.

The 1st generation 2.0 TSI was produced until 2010, but since mid-2008 it has been gradually replaced by 2.0 TSI 2nd generation. Despite this, in North America, even today, you can buy an Audi Q3 with a CCTA engine.

Disadvantages and problems of 2.0 TSI engines (1st generation)

The reliability of the CAWA, CAWB, CCTA and CCTB is exactly the same as the 1.8 liter BZB. Here, the chain is also stretched, the same unreliable tensioner, the valves are coked, oil consumption may also begin after a while. We wrote about it here this article.

Engine tuning 2.0 TSI CAWA

Chip tuning

Want to make 260 horses? Go to any tuning office, they will fill you with Stage 1 firmware and only this will give +60 hp. To get the most out of the engine's potential, buy a catless exhaust, an APR intake, an S3 intercooler, and flash Stage 2 firmware. 470 Nm, depending on the specific company and for which gasoline the engine is configured.
This is the optimal configuration for active driving, but if these numbers are not enough for you, then there are K04-based turbo kits, where everything is installed from S3: turbine, intercooler, injectors. Also buy an inlet from APR, NGK BKR8EIX spark plugs, a full exhaust on a 76 mm pipe and it remains to flash the control unit. This will give up to 370 hp, more than 550 Nm of torque and very serious dynamics. The construction of a 2.0 TSI on a K04 turbine is included in the list of standard services of many tuning organizations, all this has long been worked out and run in.
Even more can be achieved with a Garrett GTX2867R-based turbokit that delivers up to 450bhp without a hitch, depending on fuel and tuning.

It is unlikely that anyone will doubt that the Volkswagen Tiguan is a fairly successful car. The most eloquent evidence of this is the numbers. 2.64 million sold worldwide.

And now it's the turn of the next generation model. The new Tiguan is based on a modular platform with a transverse engine.

Crossover dimensions have changed significantly. It has become 6 cm longer and 3 cm wider. The wheelbase has increased by 7.7 cm.

The economical use of interior space made it possible to obtain a slightly smaller interior in a 4.49-meter SUV than in crossovers in a higher class. The distance between the seat backs is 77 cm. Even in the Audi Q7, there is only 1 cm more space. The sliding rear seats with an 18 cm adjustment range helped to achieve this result.

By changing the position of the rear sofa, you can get a trunk with a volume of 520 to 615 liters. And if you fold the backs, then its capacity will increase to 1655 liters.

Passengers in the second row were taken care of well. Here is a folding table with cup holders, and the ability to control the operating modes of the air conditioning system (a real rarity in the class).

At the same time, the front seats are set too high, and finding a comfortable position in them is not easy. The climate control knobs are too far away. Navigation and music control is carried out through a large touch screen.

The Haldex coupling is now responsible for the distribution of traction, now the fifth generation. On dry and even surfaces, only the front wheels remain driving. When slipping, the rear ones are connected. If necessary, the driver can use the rotary switch to select one of the coordinated operating modes of the transmission, power unit and electronics: road, off-road or snow.

Volkswagen Tiguan with 4Motion all-wheel drive system has a 20-centimeter ground clearance. A regular Tiguan has only 18 cm at its disposal. In addition to the clearance, the cars also differ in the angle of entry - 25.6 degrees versus 18.3 (due to the shape of the bumper).

This crossover is especially good with adaptive dampers (option - 1045 Euros). They allow you to feel confident, both on a country road and on a winding highway. However, the steering lacks good feedback and exemplary precision. In addition, the Tiguan does not respond quickly enough to steering commands.

The average fuel consumption of a 2-liter 180-horsepower gasoline turbo engine was 9.3 liters, which is 2 liters more than stated. The test crossover was equipped with a 7-speed DSG automated transmission.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan has become noticeably better than before. It is more spacious, more comfortable and has acquired more modern security systems.
