When will be the night of predestination? The Night of Predestination is the greatest night of the year. History and meaning of the Night of Predestination

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds!

The last ten days of Ramadan are considered its best time. There is a night in it, about which it is said that it is better than a thousand months.

Surah Al-Qadr says:

"1. Verily, We [Allah] sent it down [the entire Quran] (with the Preserved Tablet to the nearest sky) on the night of predestination!

2. And what made you know [do you even know] (O Prophet) what the night of predestination is [on this night Allah Almighty determines the affairs of the next year]?

3. The Night of Predestination [deeds done during it] is better than a thousand months.

4. Angels (from heaven) and the spirit [angel Jibril] descend into it [this night] with the permission of their Lord to (fulfill) all commands.

5. She [this night] is peace [good and tranquility] until the dawn rises! "(Sura 97).

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“Ramadan has come to you, a blessed month during which Allah has prescribed fasting for you, at this time the doors of Paradise open and the doors of Hell close, and the rebellious devils are chained. There is a night in it that is better than a thousand months, and whoever is deprived of its blessings truly loses everything” (An-Nasai, 2106, Ahmad, Sahih at-Targhib, 999).

Here is a list of some things we can do during these ten days:

1) Don't waste your time these days!

These days, every moment matters. Read more Koran, dhikr, dua, additional prayers, help other people - the rewards for all this increase many times over. No one knew about the importance of these days more than the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), about whom it is reported that “he was diligent in worship during these ten days as at no other time” (Sahih Muslim).

If we lose this opportunity we will have to wait whole year, hoping that we will live to see it in good health. Even if we live to see the next Ramadan, it is possible that we will have some problems and everyday affairs that will not allow us to make full use of it. So there is no better time than to turn to Allah right now.

2) If you have the opportunity, read the Quran.

We can talk for a long time about the dignity and value of reading the Koran. Transferred to authentic hadith what the Koran itself will ask for those who read it at night. It was narrated from Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“Fasting and the Koran will testify for man on the day of resurrection. The fast will say: “O Allah, I deprived him of food and other desires during the day, so let me intercede on his behalf.” The Quran will say: “O Lord, I deprived him of sleep at night, so let me intercede for him” (Ahmad, 3882).

Also, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best of you is the one who reads the Quran and teaches it to others” (Sahih al-Bukhari).

3) Make dua and ask for forgiveness for your sins

It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) warned:

“A person is deprived of his food (rizqa) because of his sins” (Ibn Majah, 4022).

However, it is known that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said:

“Whoever spends Laylat al-Qadr in prayer with faith and in hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

One of best duas, which can be pronounced at this time is the dua that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her).

“Aisha narrates: “I asked: “O Messenger of Allah, if I find the night of Laylat al-Qadr, what should I say?”

He said:

“Say: “O Allah, You are the All-Forgiving and You love to forgive, so forgive me” (Tirmidhi).

Remember everything you have to ask Allah and ask Him now.

Finally, as you find yourself in a state of ibadat (prayer and worship), please do not forget in your prayers your brothers and sisters who are in difficult situations around the world. Remember that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“The prayer that receives a quick answer is the one that one Muslim makes for another in his absence” (Hadith narrated by Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi).

Ramadan is called Kareem, generous. This month is truly generous with all its blessings and treasures. During this month we can achieve forgiveness of sins. May you all benefit from this generosity. May Allah have mercy on us, forgive us and guide us to the straight path. Amine.

In the mosque in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod region at the address: st. Zheleznodorozhnaya, 82 Every day iftar is held for all Muslims; after iftar, Muslims go to the Cathedral Mosque at 78 Sverdlova Avenue to perform collective prayer “at-tarawih”.

Brothers and sisters!

Let us rejoice in the month of Ramadan, as our Creator commands us. Let us perform more good deeds, ibadat, prayers, without missing any of the tarawih prayers. Let us preserve our tongue from filth, and our heart from enmity, envy and other diseases! And then Allah will reward us - both in this world and in Akhirat.

The Night of Power and Predestination is the most significant night, because the first suras Holy Quran were sent down to the Prophet Muhammad on this very night.

The night of destiny is a night of great blessings and goodness. The Koran states that it is better than a thousand months. A thousand months equals eighty-three years and four months.

Happy is he who spends this night in worship.

After all, the one who spent this night in worship is like the one who worshiped for more than eighty-three years, and how much longer is known only to Allah Almighty. In fact, this is a great blessing that Allah has given to His servants.

Regarding this, the famous companion Anas bin Malik (r.a.) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah Almighty gave the Night of Destiny only to my community, the previous communities did not receive it.”

Cause of great mercy

The reasons for this mercy are given in different versions in the hadiths. So in some hadiths it is indicated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw long life people of previous communities and short life representatives of their ummah. And even if Muslims wanted to be equal to other communities in good deeds, this would be impossible due to the age barrier. This greatly upset the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), so Allah the All-Merciful granted this great night.

According to another version, it becomes known that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned one person from Bani Israel who spent a thousand months in worship of Allah Ta'ala. Hearing this, the Sahaba began to envy him with “white envy”, having mercy on them Allah Ta'ala sent down this night equating it to a thousand months.

Another hadith says that the Messenger of Allah mentioned four Prophets. Ayub, Zakaria, Hezkil, Yusha (alaihim salam), who were engaged in worship for eighty years and did not disobey Allah Ta'ala for a single moment. Hearing this, the pious Sahabah were surprised, and then Jibril (a.s.) appeared and read the sura Al-Qadr.

What date is Lailatul-Qadr?

There is great disagreement among scientists regarding this issue. Below we will focus on the main versions. According to the first version, the 27th night of the month of Ramadan is the Night of Predestination. The second says that the Night of Destiny is not limited to Ramadan, that it can occur in any month throughout the year.

Supporters of the third version claim that it comes on one of the odd nights of the last ten days of the month of Ramadan, without specifying a specific date.

In our country, we adhere to the first version and expect the Night of Predestination on the 27th of the month of Ramadan. This opinion is based on the following hadith:

Imam Ahmad reports from the words of Abdullah ibn “Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Let the one who waits for the Night of Predestination wait for it [the onset] on the night of the twenty-seventh”;

Imam Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi report that Ubayyah bin Ka'b said:

“I swear by Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, that this night is in Ramadan, (he swore about the absence of the Night of Destiny in other seasons of the year, refuting the second version) and I swear by Allah, I know what kind of night this is. This is the night in which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded us to stand it (in worship), this is the twenty-seventh night. Its sign is that on the morning of this day it rises white sun, without rays."

Proponents of the third point of view cite next hadith from Aisha (ra), in proof of the correctness of his position, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Look for the Night of Destiny on the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.”

According to most scholars, the last ten days of Ramadan begin on the twenty-first night, in accordance with this calculation, the Night of Predestination should be sought on the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th of Ramadan.

The night on which the Quran was revealed

On the Night of Destiny, the Quran was revealed, as stated in Surah al-Qadr, in which Allah says:

“Verily, We have revealed it (the Quran) on the night of destiny. Do you know what the night of predestination is? The Night of Predestination is better than a thousand months. On this night angels are sent down and the Spirit is also sent down on this night at the command of his Lord to carry out all His commandments. She is Peace (Salam) until sunrise.”

“Verily, We sent it down (the Quran) on the night of destiny,” that is, on that night the Quran from Lauhul Mahfuz was sent down to heaven.

This alone would be enough to determine the significance of this night, it is so great, but this night also contains many other blessed values.

“Do you know what the night of predestination is?”

That is, do you know the greatness and superiority of this night, how many benefits, virtues and values are in it?

Then, answering His own question, He talks about some of its values:

“The night of destiny is better than a thousand months.”

Imam As-Sa"di (r.a) writes in his “Tafsir”, commenting on this verse:

This means that in its dignity it is better than a thousand months, and deeds done on this night are better than deeds done during a thousand months in which this night is not present.

This amazes everyone: Allah Almighty has granted such a reward to this weak ummah. This is a special night: deeds done on this night are equivalent to deeds done over a thousand months, which is a whole life, and not common man, but a centenarian who lived more than eighty years.

"On this night angels are sent."

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Truly, on the Night of Destiny there are more angels on earth than small pebbles” (Ibn Khuzaimah).

Allama Razi (ra) writes about this:

“When the angels first saw you (man), you disgusted them, and they said: “O Allah, you are creating such a creation that will spread wickedness on earth and shed blood.”

Then, when your parents first saw you in the form of a drop of cloudy liquid, you also disgusted them. So if it got on their clothes, they had to wash it off. But when Allah gave a beautiful form to this liquid, the parents had to be merciful and love it. And today, when on the Night of Destiny you are busy worshiping and knowing Allah, the angels descend to apologize for the words they said about you.”

“And the Spirit is also sent down on this night.”

That is, Jibril (a.s.) also descends on this night. Interpreters have several opinions about the meaning of the word Spirit (rukh). But most interpreters agreed that this is Jibril (a.s.).

“Allama Razi (r.a.), due to the superiority of Jibril (a.s.) over other angels, considers this opinion more correct. Therefore, he was mentioned separately after mentioning all the angels.

In the Sunan of Baihaqi it is narrated from Hazrat Anas (r.a.) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Jibril (a.s.) descends with one group of angels, and whomever they see engaged in dhikr and other types of worship, they ask for mercy for him.”

“By the command of your Lord, to do all His commandments.”

The words “all commands” can be understood as follows: during this Great Night, Archangel Jibril first brought to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) the first verses of the Koran and the news of his election as the Messenger of Allah.

The book "Mazahirul-Haq" emphasizes the significance of this night, for on this night the angels were created. On this night, the collection of substances for the flesh of Adam (a.s.) began, on this night a tree was planted in Paradise.

In many hadiths it is also stated that on this night du'a are accepted. In "Durra Mansur" one hadith says that on this night Isa (pbuh) was raised into heaven and on this night Bani Israel began to repent.

"She is Peace (Salaam) until sunrise"

Some hadiths say that angels greet believers with salam (i.e. say peace to you), one group of angels leaves, another comes. There is another version of the interpretation of this verse, which indicates that this night is complete world(salaam) from evil and wickedness.

This night continues (with all its blessings) until dawn. It is not that her barakah is in one particular part of the night, the manifestation of barakah and the mercy of the Almighty continues in her until the morning.

What to do this night

Aisha (r.a.) turned to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: “O Messenger of Allah, if I find out which night is the Night of Destiny, then what should I say on it?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, responded?

“Say: “O Allah, verily You are Forgiving and loving to forgive, so forgive me” (Ahmad, Ibn Majah and at-Tirmidhi)

"Allahumma innaka "afuvvun. Tuhybbul-"afwa. Fa"afwu"annii

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) himself showed zeal in worship all the last ten nights, as Aisha tells about it: “When the last ten days of Ramadan came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spent the nights in prayer , woke up his family and showed special zeal in worship." (Bukhari, Muslim)

Based on the above, it follows that the Night of Predestination is the most important attribute of Ramadan. May the All-Merciful and Merciful give each of us the opportunity to spend this night in remembrance of His greatness, prayer, reading the Koran and other worships.

Maksatbek Kairgaliev

The greatness of the Night of Predestination is described in the Holy Quran in sura 97 of the same name. It says: “Laylatul Qadr is better than a thousand months. Angels (from heaven) and spirit (angel Jibril) descend into it (on this night) with the permission of their Lord to (fulfill) all commands. She (this night) is peace (goodness and tranquility) until the dawn rises.”

Laylatul Qadr is also significant because the Holy Quran was revealed on this night. In Surah “Smoke” it is written: “Ha. Mime. By the clear Scripture! Verily, We sent it down on a blessed night. Verily, We have always exhorted. On this night all wise matters are decided according to Our command, which We (always) send.”

Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Allah the Almighty sent down the Quran on the Night of Destiny in its entirety and immediately from the “kept tablet” to the lower sky in a place called the “House of Greatness,” and it was located in the places where the stars set. And after that, Allah sent down the Quran to His prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) through the angel Gabriel in parts, depending on the circumstances, for twenty-three years” (“Tafsir at-Tabari” 2/144, “al-Mustadrak” by al-Hakim 2/530 and “Tafsir Ibn Kathir” 4/685. The authenticity of this message was confirmed by Imam al-Hakim, Hafiz Ibn Hajar, Sheikh al-Albani and Sheikh Abdul-Qadir al-Arnaut).

When is the Night of Predestination?

Prophet Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Wait for the Night of Destiny in the last ten nights of Ramadan, when there are nine, or seven, or five nights left until the end of the month” (Ahmad 1/279, al-Bukhari 2021, 2022, Abu Daoud 1381, al-Bayhaqi 4/308).

He also spoke about the signs of the Night of Predestination: “The sign of the Night of Predestination is that this night is clean and bright, and the moon seems to shine in it. She is quiet and calm, neither cold nor hot. On this night one is not allowed to throw stars until morning comes. And another sign of it is that the sun rises evenly in the morning, without rays, like the moon on the night of the full moon, and the devils on this day are not allowed to go out with it” (Ahmad 5/324).

Worship on the Night of Destiny

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) during the last ten days of Ramadan would engage in acts of worship at night and wake up his family members to join him. All Muslims who observe Islam try to do the same.

Reading namaz, Koran, appealing to the Almighty with prayers for forgiveness on this night has a higher value than on other nights, since “Laylat ul Qadr is better than a thousand months” (Holy Koran). An authentic hadith from Abu Hurayrah reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven, and whoever endures Night of Predestination with faith and hope of reward, the sins committed earlier will be forgiven” (al-Bukhari).

What to ask from Allah on the Night of Destiny?

There is no special prayer that is read on this Night. But, given that in Laylat ul Qadr the fate of a person is predetermined for a whole year, it is advisable to ask Allah for forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, good fortune, health, that is, everything that is important to you.

A good example of a supplication for this night is the supplication of Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): “O Allah! If you wrote me down as unhappy, then erase it and write me down as happy!” The Prophet Muhammad himself (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) most often turned to Allah with a prayer: “O Allah, grant us goodness in this world and Last life good and protect us from torment in the Fire!

The Night of Predestination or the Night of Power is special holy night for Muslims, which begins in the month of Ramadan (Ramadan). On the Night of Destiny, the first suras of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. This is stated in Surah Al-Qadr, in which Allah says: “Verily, We sent it down (the Quran) on the night of decree.

Next, Allah asks the question: “Do you know what the night of destiny is?” That is, do you know the greatness and superiority of this night, how many benefits, virtues and values are in it? Then, Himself answering His question, He talks about some of its values: “The night of predestination is better than a thousand months.”

Imam As-Sa'di (r.a.) writes in his Tafseer, commenting on this verse: “This means that in its dignity it is better than a thousand months, and deeds done on this night are better than deeds done for a thousand months without this night. This amazes everyone: Allah Almighty has granted such a reward to this weak ummah. This is a special night: deeds done on this night are equivalent to deeds done over a thousand months, and this is a whole life, and not of an ordinary person, but of a long-liver who has lived for more than eighty years.

On this night angels are sent. Ibn Kathir in his “Tafsir”, commenting on the words of the Almighty, said: “That is, on this night the descent of angels is multiplied, taking into account its special grace. Angels descend with grace and mercy, as they descend when reading the Koran, surround the gatherings of those who remember Allah and bow their wings before the seeker of knowledge, exalting him.”

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Truly, on the Night of Destiny there are more angels on earth than small pebbles” (Ibn Khuzaimah).

Allama Razi writes about this: “When the angels first saw you (man), you disgusted them, and they said: “O Allah, you are creating such a creation that will spread wickedness on earth and shed blood.” Then, when your parents first saw you in the form of a drop of cloudy liquid, you also disgusted them. So if it got on their clothes, they had to wash it off. But when Allah gave a beautiful form to this liquid, the parents had to be merciful and love it. And today, when on the Night of Destiny you are busy worshiping and knowing Allah, the angels descend to apologize for the words they said about you.” And the Spirit is also sent down on this night. That is, Jibril (a.s.) also descends on this night. Interpreters have several opinions about the meaning of the word Spirit (rukh). But most interpreters agreed that this is Jibril.

Some hadiths say that angels greet believers with salam (i.e. they say, peace be upon you), one group of angels leaves, another comes. There is another version of the interpretation of this verse, which indicates that this night is complete Peace (salaam) from evil and wickedness.

This night continues (with all its blessings) until dawn. It is not that her barakah is in one particular part of the night, the manifestation of barakah and the mercy of the Almighty continues in her until the morning.

When is the Night of Destiny

The exact date of this night is unknown, hidden so that Muslims would be far from sin and purify their thoughts every night. It is generally accepted that this night falls on the last ten nights of the ninth month Islamic calendar- Ramadan fasting and humility. Followers of Islam believe that it would be a big mistake to spend only one night of Ramadan in worship of the Almighty. IN scriptures numbers mentioned are 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29.

There is great disagreement among scientists regarding this issue. According to the first version, the 27th night of the month of Ramadan is the Night of Predestination. The second version says that the Night of Destiny is not limited to Ramadan, that it can occur in any month throughout the year. Supporters of the third version claim that it comes on one of the odd nights of the last ten days of the month of Ramadan, without specifying a specific date.

The first version is based on the following hadiths:

- Imam Ahmad reports from the words of Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with both of them, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Let the one who waits for the Night of Destiny wait for it [the onset] on the night of the twenty-seventh”;

- Imam Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi report that Ubayyah bin Ka'b said: “I swear by Allah, besides Whom there is no deity, that this night is in Ramadan, (he swore about the absence of the Night of Destiny in the rest of the year, refuting the second version) and I swear to Allah, I know what night it is. This is the night in which the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded us to stand in it (in worship), this is the twenty-seventh night. Its sign is that in the morning of this day a white sun rises, without rays.”

Supporters of the third point of view cite the following hadith from Aisha (ra), as proof of the correctness of their position, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Look for the Night of Destiny in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.”

According to most scholars, the last ten days of Ramadan begin on the twenty-first night, in accordance with this calculation, the Night of Predestination should be sought on the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th of Ramadan.

Name of the blessed night Arabic sounds like Laylatul-Qadr or Al-Qadr, which translated into Russian means the Night of Predestination and Power. The definition of Kadyr tun is common among Kazakhs. Scientists give different interpretation to the word “frame”, some translate it as “crowdedness”. It is interesting that many centuries different peoples They pass on a legend from mouth to mouth that on this night it becomes crowded for a huge number of angels who descend to earth.

Muslims believe that it was on the Night of Predestination and Power that the angel Jebrail descended to the praying Prophet Muhammad and gave him the Holy Quran on one of ten last nights month of Ramadan. Also in the hadiths (traditions about the words of the Prophet - ed.) it is said that Muslims were sad about the insufficient amount of time allotted for doing good deeds due to the brevity of life itself. In this regard, the Almighty sent down a special night for them, in which the mercy of Allah is manifested more strongly than usual.

The power of the Night of Power is that the reward for prayer performed on the holy night is similar to if the prayer was recited for a thousand months, or 83 years.

Devout Muslims spend these days in intense prayer in order to find that very night of Predestination. The holy night comes immediately after sunset and ends with dawn, that is, with the beginning of the time for morning prayer.

Signs of a Holy Night

According to folk beliefs, recognizing the Night of Predestination will not be difficult, because only it has its own special shine. In addition, on the Night of Predestination and Power, no stars fall, and not a single cloud remains in the sky. Believers say that it is after a special night that the sun rises as a soft red disk without rays, like full moon on a cloudless night.

How to celebrate the Night of Predestination

Before the onset of the Night of Destiny, it is necessary to perform a complete ablution (ghusl), as well as rid the head, soul and heart of negative thoughts. Ramadan is a time when we can try to improve.

On this night, one should ask for forgiveness for sins committed, do tawba (repentance - ed.), remember the Prophet Muhammad and turn to the Almighty in the language in which it is easier to express one’s thoughts.

On the night of Al-Qadr, you should listen to your heart, and be energetic and patient in business. It is recommended to prepare a short list of duas (requests - ed.) on the holy night. To pray, you should wake up relatives in the house if they are sleeping. The mosque servants advise you to get some sleep at lunchtime before the Night of Power, and not to fill your stomach at iftar (breaking the fast - ed).

Skip Kadir tun is considered irreparable loss, so Muslims try to stay awake at night and wait for its onset. The Night of Power and Predestination is the most sacred night, because the first suras of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad on this very night.

The night of destiny is a night of great blessings and goodness. The Koran states that it is better than a thousand months. A thousand months equals eighty-three years and four months.

What to say this night

Aisha turned to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him: “O Messenger of Allah, if I find out which night is the Night of Destiny, then what should I say in it?” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, replied: “Say, “O Allah, truly You are Forgiving and loving to forgive, so forgive me" (Ahmad, Ibn Majah and at-Tirmidhi) "Allahumma innaka 'afuvwun. Tuhybbul-‘afwa. Fa'afwu 'annii."

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) himself showed zeal in worship all the last ten nights, as 'Aisha tells about it: “When the last ten days of Ramadan came, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) spent the nights in prayer , woke up his family members and showed special zeal in worship." (Bukhari, Muslim)+

Based on the above, it follows that the Night of Predestination is the most important attribute of Ramadan. May the All-Merciful and Merciful give each of us the opportunity to spend this night in remembrance of His greatness, prayer, reading the Koran and other worships.

The Night of Power and Predestination - Laylatul Qadr - is perhaps the most mysterious and significant night during the entire month of Ramadan.

What is Laylatul Qadr Night?

The Night of Power is a revered night in the fasting month of Ramadan in honor of the discovery of the first sura of the Koran to Muhammad in 610 in the Hira cave of Mount Jabal an-Nur. On this night, according to Islamic sources, the archangel Gabriel appeared to the praying Muhammad and, pointing to the scroll, said: " Read!" (Koran!).

The Night of Power and Destiny is celebrated at the end of the ninth month of Ramadan. On the Night of Predestination, it is customary to ask God for forgiveness for sins committed and read the Koran.
