Arabic phrases in Russian transcription. Arabic dictionaries
Official language United United Arab Emirates is Arabic. As in everything modern world English is also widely spoken in tourist and business areas. It is not uncommon to meet people who understand French. Because people came to the country to work large number expatriates who are not native speakers of Arabic, you can hear the languages spoken in Hindi (the state language of India), Urdu (Pakistan), Bengali (Bangladesh), Farsi (Iran), Tagalog (Philippines), Malayalam (India) and Punjabi (India ).
But the increasing flow of Russian tourists is also doing a good deed - in many self-respecting hotels, shopping centers and some small shops (mainly in Nasser Square) understand Russian speech, which cannot but please lazy or difficult-to-learn English tourists from the post-Soviet space. Signs are also beginning to adapt to Russian-speaking travelers - savvy merchants are happy to try in any way to express themselves and attract buyers, although the signs still mainly broadcast in two languages - Arabic and English.
There are no problems with numbers either. Along with the official Emirati Indo-Arabic numerals
very vaguely reminiscent of signs familiar to us, traditional Arabic numerals, understandable to every European.
As for the purity of speech, there are big problems with this in the UAE. Literary Arabic - fuskh - is spoken only in the mass media. It may very well be that the cream of Emirati society also speaks this language, but does not use it every day. Basically, all communication takes place in Dinglish - the so-called Dubai English, which contains a lot of things.
If, nevertheless, there is a great desire to show off at least a superficial knowledge of Arabic, then below is a list of words and phrases often used in the tourist zone.

According to some data, there are about 3,000 languages in the world. One of the most widespread world languages is Arabic. Arabic is spoken today by about 400 million people. It belongs to the Semitic languages widespread in the Middle East and East Africa.
Arabic is the language in which the Quran was revealed. Due to the fact that interest in the study of the Koran is growing incredibly, interest in the Arabic language is growing along with it.
The Arabic language is distinguished by its richness and size. For example, in French approximately 25,000 words, in English – 100,0000, explanatory dictionary The Russian language has about 200,000 words; in literary Arabic there are about 400,000 roots, each of which produces several derivative words. Dictionary Lisan al-Arab contains 80,000 roots alone, not words. One of the famous Arabic linguists, al-Khalil ibn Ahmad al-Farahidi (718 - 791), indicates that the Arabic lexicon contains 12,305,412 words. No language can compare with the Arabic language in terms of the richness of its heritage and the number of synonyms.
German orientalist Warnbach said: “Arabic is not just the richest language in the world. The number of outstanding authors alone,
who wrote on it cannot be counted. Our differences in time with them have created an insurmountable barrier between us, alien to the Arabic language, and their works, and it is only possible to see what is behind it with difficulty" ( Anwar al-Jundi. Literary language Arabs. P.303).
German orientalist Zeifir Khaunga wrote: “How can a person fight the beauty of this language, its impeccable logic and unparalleled magic?” The very neighbors of the Arabs in the countries they conquered were defeated by the magic of this language. Even people who retained their religion in this stream began to speak Arabic with love" (magazine " al-Lisan al-Arabi, 86/24. From the book “The Sun of the Arabs Rises in the West”).
When Islam began to spread rapidly in the 7th century, many non-Arabs became interested in the new religion. Persians, Greeks, Turks and others, is
were thirsty to learn something new, unknown to the village, Arab culture. New endless terms and expressions appeared before them, which they understood with difficulty. In this regard, the need arose to compile catalogs and dictionaries where it was possible to explain the meaning of words and ways of their application.
