Marmaris in mid-September Water temperature in the Aegean Sea in Marmaris in september. Sea temperature in Marmaris in september

Marmaris - a beautiful Turkish resort on the coast Aegean Sea. Moreover, it is very popular among our compatriots. And yet, in this cozy town you can often meet tourists from Germany, France, Holland, and not Russians, but so much the better. Marmaris is a more European resort, and therefore those who do not own English language, you will have to stock up on a dictionary to communicate with hotel or restaurant staff.

The beach season begins along the Turkish coast in May, but the most pleasant heat comes in July-August. Many people prefer to travel to Turkey in September, the so-called the Velvet season. Here's what is a vacation in Marmaris in September, read below.

September is not the best hot month years, and this is its big plus. The unbearable heat subsides, a pleasant warmth comes. The average daily air temperature there at this time is + 29 ... 32 ° С, while in the sun it can be up to + 34-35 ° С. From the second half of September, temperatures drop slightly, reaching an average of + 26-27 ° С (however, sometimes +30 is kept throughout September), but the thermometer almost never drops below +25 during the day in September (with rare exceptions it is + 22-23 degrees). Such temperatures are more than comfortable, especially near the sea, from which pleasant sea breezes blow.

Evenings and nights in this resort in September are still very pleasant, the nights in Marmaris are very warm, but at the same time, they are no longer stuffy, with an average temperature of + 20 ... 22 ° С.

Of course, you can swim in September. The sea this month in Marmaris is still very warm. By the way, the Aegean Sea is always a little cooler than the Mediterranean, and therefore in early September the water temperature is about +27°C, in the middle +25°C, by the last days - up to +24°C. Swimming in such water is quite pleasant. And in general, a beach holiday in September is wonderful, because there is a lot of sun at this time, and there is almost no rain. September is one of the driest months of the year and there can only be one rainy or cloudy day in Marmaris during the whole month. And so cloudy days September is a rarity.

In general, it can be considered that weather in Marmaris they are more comfortable compared to the resorts in the Antalya region (which is more popular among our tourists): it is not so humid here, the heat is not so exhausting due to the winds (even in September). And the air in Marmaris is filled with essential oils coniferous forests, so that it is easy to breathe there (and useful). Thus, the weather in Marmaris in September can be called more than comfortable.

What to do in Marmaris in September

To begin with, you should know that Marmaris is a resort with excellent tourist infrastructure, and it is never boring here, neither for adults nor for children. In September, as mentioned above, in view of the beautiful weather, you will have an excellent beach holiday. Beaches in Marmaris wonderful, no exaggeration. Some beaches have even been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and leisure. The city beach of Marmaris, however, cannot boast of special cleanliness, and there will be a lot of people on this beach in September. So, you can go for new experiences on Icmeler beach(7 kilometers west of Marmaris). No less good beaches on the northern side of the Cennet peninsula and the beaches of Kumlubuk and Turunc bays(That's exactly what they got this Blue Flag).

You can diversify your beach holiday with a trip to water parks, which are open in September as well. Many are impressed water park "Aqua Dream", the largest water park in Marmaris. It is located on a hill behind the Migros supermarket and is visible from almost anywhere in the resort. The area of the water park is decent, about 44 thousand square meters, and there are entertainments for both the smallest and young people. In addition to slides, the water park has a bowling center, and animators work in the park.

Marmaris with kids it will be very fun, as this resort has excellent family hotels with children's animation, however, there are not so many of them compared to the coast mediterranean sea. In a sense, Marmaris is a more youthful resort. But there are activities for the kids. In addition to water parks rides in shopping malls (for example, in the shopping center "Point cener" and "Kipa"), amusement parks(A mini amusement park is built next to the Point cener during the season, which is open in the evenings, and during holidays and local holidays you can have fun on the rides and jump on trampolines next to Ataturk Square) and playgrounds in city parks(one of the best is next to the monument to Ataturk).

Do not miss the chance to go on excursions to local attractions. One of the most interesting places around - Ashartepe, an archaeological center in the northern part of Marmaris, which was founded on the site of the ancient city of Fiskos. Throughout the history of the city, Fiskos has been home to the most different nations- Minoans, Rhodesians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Dorians, Macedonians, Syrians, Persians, Romans and Byzantines, Seljuks, Ottomans and who else! Today, only ruins remain of the once prosperous city. In addition to the "dead" part of the city, there is also a "living part" - a beautiful garden with peacocks walking on the grass.

Pro the tomb of Sariana few tourists know. Not that it was an incredible building, but worth a trip. The tomb is located at the exit of Marmaris (follow the sign "Nimara's Cave" and then turn right. Before reaching Netsel Marina you will see the sign "Tomb of Sariana"). A bit of history: Sariana is a famous soothsayer who lived in the Marmaris area in the 16th century. She was famous for her virtue and correct predictions, so the sultans themselves turned to her for advice. Well, the tomb was erected to her after one of her advice (on the conquest of Rhodes) turned out to be useful and true. Entrance to the tomb is free for everyone, but you must follow the same rules as for visiting the mosque (do not enter in shorts and bareheaded).

Netsel Marina, which was mentioned above, is the huge port of Marmaris, a real "yacht paradise". The port is so huge that up to 750 yachts can moor there at the same time. On warm September evenings, this area can be very crowded and noisy, in addition, next to the port there is a famous street full of bars and clubs, as well as cute fish restaurants. Walking from the city center to the port is not far (10 minutes).

Another ancient attraction of the resort - Marmaris fortress(Marmaris Kalesi), which is located on a mountain in the center of the peninsula. This massive fort is supposed to have been built in the 3rd millennium BC! The castle was repeatedly set on fire, destroyed, rebuilt again, fired upon and conquered. Today, inside the fortress there is a museum with an archaeological exposition and an ethnographic hall (seven galleries in total). The place is very useful for those who do not know anything about the richest and interesting history Marmaris, and in general, this fortress is very beautiful, and from the mountain there are excellent views of the port, the bay and the resort itself.

Another favorite excursion from Marmaris is a trip to Cleopatra Island. The narrow and long island is located about 18 kilometers from the coast of Marmaris. Why Cleopatra? As usual, a romantic legend was added to it that Mark Antony gave this piece of sushi many, many years ago to his beloved, respectively, Cleopatra. Beauty did not like the sand on the island. Then Mark ordered to bring to the island especially soft and delicate sand from North Africa to please your princess. By the way, the sand on the island is really wonderful (I immediately want to believe in the legend) - snow-white, with grains of sand that look like pearls. Sometimes they are not even allowed to enter the beach in shoes, and at the exit from the beach, the grains of sand must be washed off - so as not to take a single gram with you (everything is very strict, but how could it be otherwise). Also on the island is the temple of Apollo and the ruins of an ancient amphitheater.

Thus, September can be safely called a great time to travel to Marmaris: dry, clear weather, the sea is still warm. This weather is good for beach holiday, and for leisure sightseeing.

With the advent of autumn, the so-called “velvet season” begins in Marmaris: the sweltering heat is on the decline, but the air and water in the sea are still warm. During daylight hours, the air warms up to +31, at night it drops to plus twenty.

By the end of the month, temperatures drop slightly, but the beginning of September feels just like summer. The water in the sea is consistently at around +25. In September, there is almost no rain in Marmaris, precipitation can fall as little as 24 millimeters.

In addition, there is another reason to go to the resort at this time: the flow of tourists is significantly reduced, most which is made up of young people, students who are forced to go to school in early autumn.

If you are a big fan active rest, then the weather in Marmaris in September will create ideal conditions for your favorite pastime. Optimal temperatures are suitable for quad bike or jeep trips. If you are exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, remember to protect yourself from possible sunburn with sunscreen.

Marmaris is a lively, vibrant city with countless yachts, clubs and restaurants, with an amazing nightlife. Read on the Tour-Calendar what you can enjoy with your holiday in Marmaris in September!

Marmaris in September on video

Video of one of the tourists traveling to Marmaris in 2014. As you can see, the weather in September is mostly great!

It so happened that in one season I visited Marmaris twice. The first time in July (I was on vacation with my family), and the second time this year in September (for work). Of course, I was delighted when I found out that I was flying to. But, I confess, I did not expect anything extraordinary - I was here a month ago. However, the city made an indelible impression on me. Perhaps I got more pleasure from work in September than from vacation in July (stop! Or maybe because I was without a family?!))). I will tell about my impressions in order.

Weather in Marmaris in September

Air temperature

Daytime air temperature is around +28°C. The sun is no longer as hot as in the middle of summer. I took a bathing suit, I even managed to sunbathe a little. But only at lunch, because after three, I personally was no longer comfortable on the beach in a bathing suit. And after lunch it gets colder. In the evening and at night it is generally cool - somewhere around 19 degrees, but a very fresh breeze. Invigorates, so to speak.

sea water temperature

The most interesting thing was that it was not cold to swim. Maybe because the difference between the temperature of water and air was minimal ... I didn’t think about it, I just enjoyed it.

Take with you a swimsuit with slates, and a windbreaker with sneakers - both will definitely come in handy.

What delicious treats Marmaris in September

Looking ahead a little, I will say that the fruits that I ate here in July were not even close to those that I ate in September.

I really love fruits. And if you love them too, and you are lucky enough to visit this area in September, get ready for the feast of the stomach. Some unimaginable sweetness grapes, berries are directly translucent in the sun. I have never eaten these pears before or since. It turns out that for my ... well, for over 30 years I have not tried REAL watermelons.

Where can I buy:

  • in the local market;
  • at the Imcheler mobile market. It opens every Wednesday at the intersection of roads to and the village of Turunc.
  • in the market in Imcheler itself along this canal:

Be sure to visit this market (this applies to the female half in particular). Get a boost of positivity. And there fruit and everything else is definitely cheaper. And compared to the summer, generally one and a half times cheaper.

Is it boring in Marmaris in September? What to have fun?

If I was with my family, I would be bored. But it’s more than good with friends, especially during the day we were busy at work. By the way, you can rent a yacht, it is quite affordable for a company of several people. Nm also arranged fishing in the sea. True, we did not catch anything (((

You can go to the same Imcheler - just 5 minutes by minibus.

Just in September, you can go on excursions - it's not hot, nothing distracts.

Then in the city there is such a Street of Bars. All entertainment is concentrated here. Perhaps only here and concentrated).

What else? Another water park (or even two - I don’t remember exactly).

Maybe someone will like to just walk and breathe the sea air, especially since there are very few vacationers. Look, the streets are almost empty.

Tourists

Exactly half as much as in summer.

Animals to be feared

First of all, sea urchin. You should not swim without rubber slippers. Believe me, it’s not a pleasant sight when a needle in the heel breaks (by the way, it’s impossible to get it on your own).

Secondly, sea anemones. They look like green algae. They burn like jellyfish, the burn does not go away for a whole month (my husband still got bogged down in them in the summer, only a month later).

Thirdly, oleander. This is a plant with which all the girls take pictures. Not worth it - poisonous.

And finally, the most dangerous for women are men. It is better not to go half-naked in the city, not to go to the market alone, not to sit in a cafe alone. This I know for sure.

Conclusion

In September, you can also relax: sunbathe, swim, and have fun. And everything will be great!)))
