Palm Jumeirah is an artificial island in the United Arab Emirates. Description, sights of the island. Jumeirah, palm island in dubai

Currently in the United Arab Emirates there are many wonders created by architects and builders. In my articles I will talk about all the creations of man and not only, but first of all I want to talk about the Palm Islands. The Palm Islands are man-made islands that look like a palm tree from a bird's eye view. And there are three such islands: Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira.

This palm archipelago is located in the emirate. The purpose of creating such islands was to increase the coastline by 520 kilometers, which in turn would attract new tourists and investors.

All islands are made in the shape of a date palm, which is very revered in Islam. Each island has a crescent at the top, which acts as a breakwater and is also a Muslim symbol. In June 2001, construction began on the first Palm Island in Dubai - Jumeirah, consisting of a "trunk" with 17 branches, and the length of the breakwater - a crescent is 11 kilometers. It took 7 million to create this island cubic meters sand. The total area of this island is 25 square kilometers. 28 hotels will be built on the crescent. Also, 1400 villas, 20 buildings with 2500 apartments were built here. It is planned to build another 32 hotels. The main attraction of this island is the Atlantis complex, consisting of two pompous towers connected by a bridge. The total length of Jumeirah's beaches is 78 kilometers.

In October 2002, construction began on the second Palm Island in Dubai, Jebel Ali. The creation of this palm tree took 100 million cubic meters of sand and rock. The Jebel Ali palm is larger than the Jumeirah palm and has a more exotic shape. It is planned that the main destination of this island will be the reception of tourists. 2,000 Polynesian-style bungalows and 2,000 individually designed houses will be built on the coastline. AT this moment work is underway to build infrastructure. Last but not least, it is planned to build residential buildings. It is planned to build a residential complex of concrete and glass, where the buildings will be in the form of yacht sails. The crescent of this island will host 4 theme parks.

In the fall of 2004, construction began on the third palm tree - Deira. This is the largest island of all three. It will take 1 billion cubic meters of sand and rock to create it. By the way, all materials for all palm trees are mined in the UAE. When completed, this island will be the largest man-made island in human history, hosting one million permanent residents. Construction is planned to be completed by 2015, but most likely this date will have to be postponed for several years, too large volumes and costs. The area of this island is 112 square kilometers and it represents the most exotic palm tree, which has a massive "trunk" and 41 branches.

During the construction of palm trees, a huge number of problems arose and arise, and not only of a financial nature. According to environmentalists, the construction of breakwaters that prevent the movement of aquatic life. These barriers are already causing water stagnation, and with the appearance of inhabitants on the islands, the problem of pollution of the bay will become even more acute. But this is only the “tip of the iceberg” of the consequences of the construction of the islands. All construction is planned to be completed by 2015. And only then will we know whether this huge construction site will turn into a corner of paradise for millions of lucky people.

If they create new wonders of the world these days, then it is done in Dubai. To see one of them, you will have to go to Jumeirah, one of the prestigious areas and go down to the bay.
palm islands called the archipelago, consisting of three artificially created islands. For them, the form of trees revered in these places - date palms was chosen. Each got its own name - Palm Jumeirah (Palm Jumeirah) built first, Palm Jebel Ali (Palm Jebel Ali), the largest Palm Deira (Palm Deira). The unusual picture is complemented by small islands. The constituents of "Universe" and "World" are smaller archipelagos of simple form.
It's hard to believe, but the embodiment of this masterpiece of engineering construction company It took Nakheel only 10 to 15 years. No country in the world has yet managed to create something similar. Initially, the project seemed beautiful, but at the same time fantastic and not suitable for implementation in the material. But the creators managed to think through the whole course of action and from the very beginning of the work did not deviate from the plan. The speed with which the work proceeded surprised even people who were far from construction.
The project relied on the results of a survey of this part of the Persian Gulf, a relatively shallow and wide strip of the continental shelf. To create a strong and reliable "foundation" had to be lowered on sea bottom huge volume of stone and sand.
To protect the constructed islands from strong storms, they had to be surrounded by a strip of barrier reefs. Even here, the authors did not simplify their task by giving the reefs around the second palm tree the shape of Arabic letters. The blue waves of the bay glide over the lines of the poetry of Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the former ruler of Dubai. And the islands that rose from the water became proof of what he wrote about - sincere faith in a dream and wisdom can create an unimaginable miracle.
It is impossible to say how many years work will be carried out on Palm Islands- there are many more improvements or additions in the project. But this does not detract from the merits of what has already been created, and real estate on bulk archipelagos is in demand among the elite and celebrities.
After the completion of all work in Dubai, a separate piece of paradise will appear. Everything in it is designed for the comfort of wealthy guests and residents - numerous entertainment complexes, sandy beaches and green parks, golf courses, luxury hotels, and nightclubs.

Palm Jumeirah

Prior to recognition of the Palm Jumeirah modern miracle there is not much light left - what can be compared with this small artificial archipelago, which really looks like a stylized image of a palm tree. It is the smallest of the three palm islands and is the project of Nakheel, a well-known construction company.
Only five years passed between the laying of the islands and the beginning of their development. The coastline stretches for about 520 km, and the total area is equal to eight hundred football fields. You can get to the mainland by connecting them with a 300m long bridge. A three-lane (both-way) road tunnel running underwater leads from the shore to the crescent-shaped protective structures.
Among the resorts of the emirate Palm Jumeirah is the most popular.
Now there are more than twenty operating hotels and entire complexes, arranged with real oriental luxury. For those who prefer measured rest calm warm sea this is the ideal option. No less interesting are the islands for divers - artificial reefs at different depths, old planes brought and flooded and many other original ideas will make diving unforgettable.
The palm tree is divided into three parts. On the central part, which plays the role of the "Trunk", there are parks, several restaurants and large shopping centers. There among the greenery are residential complexes, where wealthy connoisseurs of comfort and beautiful views are offered a variety of apartments of any size - from modest one-room to luxurious, with four or more rooms in 20 multi-storey buildings.Of them opens beautiful view to the Persian Gulf, to the banks of the canal dividing the "Trunk" into two parts. The palm tree has a "crown" in the form of symmetrical "branches" spread out into the sea. There are seventeen of them, each with villas, different in area and design, arguing with each other in luxury and richness of decoration and furnishings. There are almost fifteen hundred of them.

The "Crescent" has its own purpose - it was created to protect the rest of the archipelago that surrounds it. The "Crescent" area is given over to hotels. Here are the most famous hotel chains. Surprisingly, the resulting mixture architectural styles does not seem annoying or inappropriate. Venetian style adjacent to the building in Japanese, further you can see the Brazilian or strict European classics.
The main transport link to Dubai is the monorail high-speed train.

Palm Jebel Ali

No matter how magnificent the Palm Jumeirah is, the second island Palm Jebel Ali there is a chance to surpass it in originality. For the man-made island, the site was chosen closer to the harbor of Jebel Ali, the most extensive in the world.
The construction of the island began a year later - in 2002. The work took five years, and the construction itself was launched only in 2009. It is known about the plans to build a larger island city nearby - "Dubai-Waterfort".
The construction is still far from being completed - too big plans take time to be implemented. In addition to business centers, part of the island will be given over to villas and bungalows. And the spit, protecting the island from the sea, is intended for amusement parks. Busch Gardens is set to become the most modern amusement park in the emirate, attracting children and adults alike. In addition to it, there is also Discovery Cove Aquatica and Sea World. The piers are no less originally decorated - a giant killer whale, etc. For the entertainment of tourists, a real sea village where, in addition to a huge aquarium, water super-attractions are installed.
Unfortunately, the decline in oil prices is reflected in the financing and timing of construction. Perhaps part of the project will be postponed until a more prosperous period.

Palm Deira

The construction of the third Palm was the third stage in the creation of an artificial archipelago and began in 2004. Quite a lot is known about the project - Palm Deira should surpass the other two islands in size (by 5 and 8 times) and become the largest of all the islands created by man. It will have enough space for a million people. Initially, the date of completion of construction was called 2015. But the scale of the work, their complexity and high cost, combined with the decline in the world economic level, do not allow meeting the deadline.
The Deira Palm has 41 "branches" on a solid, wide trunk. There were many difficulties in the construction of the obligatory half-moon breakwater. It was planned that the island-palm will revive and decorate the old area, next to which it is being built.

The World - a whole world in miniature

Arab sheikhs have long been famous for their love of luxury and grandiose projects. And oil revenues make it possible to translate the craziest and most fantastic ideas into reality for short time. So appeared "The World"- a small artificial archipelago of 300 islets. Each of them is a tiny copy of some country. When viewed from above, the outlines of the islands merge into a huge map of the world.

By January 2008, all island countries were ready. The creators did not limit themselves to giving the islands the exact shape of the selected countries and continents. The design and atmosphere of the islands were reproduced in a characteristic national style in compliance with the main traditions.

A lot of work was invested in creating a comfortable environment for the residents and guests of Mir. They tried to bring every little thing to the limits of possible perfection. We succeeded - luxurious elegant villas and mansions against the backdrop of charmingly serene landscapes with lakes and quiet parks seem like a piece of a fairy-tale land. Such an island can be purchased for personal use. But for the opportunity to settle in your own warm country, you need to lay out a very solid amount. Although there are plenty of people who want to.
Therefore, the idea of Sheikh Mohamed, the ruler of the emirate, can be called successful and profitable. As well as the choice of the developer company - Nakheel. Several foreign contractors were allowed to work. Most of materials for the islands received in the Emirates.
The distance from the archipelago to the coast is only 4 km, but the construction of a bridge or a tunnel, as in the Palms, is not planned - only air and water transport. The owners of "paradise islands" always have the opportunity to replenish their transport fleet with a helicopter or another yacht. For tourists, several pleasure ferries and, in the future, airships will be involved.
So far, not all the islands have found wealthy owners - except for Ireland, New Zealand and Australia, Greenland (Sheikh Maktum), Brunei, and Finland have been sold. The last two islands should eventually overshadow the European centers of luxury and fashion.
Twenty islands in the "North American" part of the archipelago are left to the Nakhee. They are to become a resort under beautiful name "coral islands". In addition to parking for small and large yachts and luxury hotels, there is a place for beautiful villages and other components of a paradise for tourists.
The reaction to anthropogenic archipelagos can be different - environmentalists fear the impact on the bay and even the climate of the coast. Many believe that such projects are poorly compatible with the period of economic crises. But it is impossible not to admire this wonderful creation of engineering and architectural thought that arose over several decades.

The island was built in 2006 and given over to the construction of villas, a hotel and an aqua park. Jumeirah is part of Palm Islands (Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Deira). Jumeirah is unofficially referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world".

Palm Jumeirah is an artificial island in the form of a palm tree, consisting of a trunk, 16 leaves and a crescent moon surrounding the island, which is an 11-kilometer breakwater. The size of the island is 5 kilometers by 5 kilometers and its total area is more than 800 football fields. The island is connected to the mainland by a 300-meter bridge, and the crescent is connected to the top of the palm tree by an underwater tunnel.

Palm Jumeirah is a very popular tourist destination in Dubai. The island is surrounded by the warm waters of the Persian Gulf - this is a real paradise for a relaxing holiday by the sea. The place is extremely attractive for divers. Especially for fans of scuba diving around the archipelago, several artificial reefs were created and even several old planes were flooded to lure divers from all over the world.

The island has gorgeous beaches where you can sunbathe and swim. Along the roads are villas and residential buildings. A very beautiful area, expensive, standard built, well-groomed, and at the end of Palma is the Atlantis Hotel, which in itself is an independent attraction.

Dubai, a city that 50 years ago was a poor relative in the family of the UAE, today has become the most progressive and fastest growing metropolis in the world. The financial impetus to such lightning-fast development was given by the discovery of its own oil fields in the emirate in 1966. This fateful event helped turn the fishing village into a world investment and tourist center. But today, income from oil production and sales is only 5% of GDP, and the vast budget of the emirate is formed mainly through investment, real estate sales, trade and tourism.

Rebuilding the city, the sheikhs did not waste time on trifles. Intoxicated by their petrodollars, they enthusiastically began to ennoble their native lands. When looking at modern look Dubai is immediately clear that this splendor is nothing but a mixture of indefatigable imagination and huge money.

In 2000, the Dubai authorities thought that they seemed to have everything, but there was not enough space. So they decided to create islands in the Persian Gulf. The result of these noble plans was a conglomeration of artificial objects, the largest of which was the Palm Jumeirah.

Jumeirah artificial islands - the most ambitious engineering and financial project

The legendary creation is the hero of many sections of the Guinness Book of Records, the largest artificial island in the world. The project added even more global fame to the emirate of Dubai and increased the length of the beach strip by more than 56 km (which is 9 times more than it was before construction). Also, almost 520 km of land went under the construction of the most expensive real estate in the Middle East, which, by the way, was sold out before the end of construction.

The main initiator of the Jumeirah Islands mega-project was Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler and absolute monarch of Dubai. And the calculations themselves and their implementation were carried out by the Nakhil company, a state government developer, and hundreds of specially hired design specialists. The shape of the future island of Palm Jumeirah (United Arab Emirates) was not only a fantasy decision, but also the result of careful calculations, which made it possible to place a maximum of villas on it and extend the beach line. In addition, the choice of the shape of the island contains ideological overtones, because the date palm is a symbol of Dubai, and the object itself has the full name Palm Jumeirah, or "crown of a palm tree."

How was the Palm Jumeirah built?

The construction of the island began in 2001, and already in 2006, the first buildings began to be erected. In 2008, the first huge Atlantis The Palm 5* hotel was opened. To create a solid soil, ordinary sand, which you “at least eat with a spoon” in the desert around Dubai, was not suitable. Sea sand by drying, mined from the bottom of the Persian Gulf. The material was compacted by special machines with the help of continuous vibrations. The shallow waters off the coast of Palm Jumeirah are not very prone to storms, but nevertheless the island was surrounded by a 3.5-meter protective breakwater built from rock. The location of each pebble in the mound was determined by a computer.

In total, 94 million m 3 of sand, 5.5 million m 3 of rock stones, 10 years of work of 49 thousand workers and 52 billion dollars went into the creation of the island. If we sum up the entire volume of sand that was required to create the Palm Jumeirah (United Arab Emirates), then it would be enough to build a stable wall 2.5 meters high and commensurate with the length of the equator.

Palm Jumeirah - modern oriental fairy tale

Palm Jumeira is very reminiscent of something unreal and impossible. It seems that he is fantastic, descended from the pages of books by Lewis Carroll or Jules Verne. Many, seeing the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah, consider it the embodiment of oriental fantasies from the Thousand and One Nights fairy tales. In principle, this is quite understandable - they could not build up an island worth more than 50 billion dollars in the style of Khrushchev's high-rise buildings. The ostentatious splendor bordering on insanity suits the style of this grandiose island very well. Most famous hotel Atlantis the Palm, which is located on the breakwater, is decorated in the style of the legends of the lost kingdom of Atlantis.

Palm Jumeirah is also a modern investment tale. Back in 2003, the leadership of Dubai revised many legislative dogmas and made fateful decisions to expand the investment and real estate market. Since then, Dubai has become an "investment chrysalis". In addition to the national finances born from "black gold", millions of European and American currencies went to the emirate. And when the well-known September 11 terrorist attack took place in the United States, many decided to hide their finances in the Arab market, which was more reliable and profitable at that time.

Properties on Palm Jumeirah

In Dubai, especially in the prestigious Palm Jumeirah area, the most attractive and status real estate market in the eastern region, if not on the entire continent. Even before the end of the construction of the artificial island, most of the villas had already been sold. However, today some branches of Palma are still overgrown with new villas.

Housing in Dubai became an attractive market unit only after the authorities of the emirate made an unprecedented decision in 2003 - they gave foreign buyers the right to full ownership of the acquired property. Thus, Dubai has become the only city in the Persian Gulf where the purchase of real estate is a completely transparent procedure that is protected by international and national law.

Hotels, entertainment centers and attractions Palm Jumeirah

Only after the construction of infrastructure facilities, roads and hotels on the trunk of a palm tree, the island took on a completed look and the already familiar outlines of the Palm Jumeirah resort. The description of the area as "the city of the future" is by no means an exaggeration. Jumeirah is indeed a very high-tech and extremely prestigious region. It should be noted that Jumeirah is not only the name of an artificial island, but the entire area of the city, including beaches and hotels near Palma. There are 25 prohibitively expensive hotels on the island itself.

Also on the island of Palm Jumeirah there are world-famous shopping centers Jumeirah Town Center and Mercato Mall, which is decorated in the Renaissance style.

Immutable must-haves for visiting tourists with children are the Aquaventure water park (one of the largest in the world) and The Dolphin Bay dolphinarium, located in the Atlantis Hotel.

Palm Jumeirah: how to get to attractions?

Today, the "Palm District" is not only the center of a beautiful, rich life, but also an important sightseeing object. Many tourists go to Jumeirah just to see, visit malls or entertainment centers.

Palma can be reached by the highway that connects the island to the mainland, or by the monorail that rises above the road. This road is a great way to get to the facilities on the island and enjoy the fabulous view.

Some palm branches are connected by underground tunnels. All hotels on the island have helipads.

Followers of Palm Jumeirah, or Future Construction Projects of Dubai

The existing grandiose fame of the city of Dubai is probably not enough, so the fantasies of sheikhs and architects will not reach their climax soon. The government plans even more extravagant projects, including several artificial archipelagos, a bulk prototype solar system called The Universe, Lilypad is a floating city of the future, and an environmental planetary hub.

Hello my dear readers! I want to tell you today about the construction of a palm island in Dubai.

An island in Dubai, an island in the form of a palm tree, an incredible super-structure, the very appearance of which in the Persian Gulf is a miracle, an island whose possibility of construction was questioned by the engineers working on this project. But he still grew up close to the coast in the Persian Gulf. The impossible was done, people fought everyday with the forces of nature, won a place from the sea for a new island, the island of Jumeirah.

The construction of Jumeirah Island began shortly after the first victory of man over the forces of nature in Dubai - the construction of an Arab tower on an artificial island, 300 meters from the coast.

Dubai is a small emirate, the richest place in the Arab world. Everything here is built on oil revenues. Now this place is one of the most luxurious in the world. But it was not always so. Half a century ago, there was a poor fishing village here, whose inhabitants earned their living by catching fish and diving for pearls.

The discovery of oil changed everything. Now it is a completely different world, getting where it is already impossible to imagine pearl divers, fishermen and poor shacks on the banks. Now Dubai is known for its gold, oil and beautiful buildings.

But very soon, in 2016, the oil will dry up in this area, it is urgent to look for new sources of income in order to maintain the standard of living at the same level.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum planned to turn a small emirate into a heavenly place, a world-class resort where the richest and most famous people planets. Dubai is the best suited for the implementation of this idea, because there are almost 365 sunny days a year, beautiful white sandy beaches.

An extraordinary city should grow on a small piece of land, each building of which will become a wonder of the world. Everything should be here highest level. The first successful project of Sheikh Mohammed was the construction of an Arab tower, a hotel in the form of a sail, the opening of which was timed to coincide with the celebration of the Millennium. The Burj Al Arab has become the symbol of Dubai, which is exactly what Sheikh Mohammed wanted. The bold ideas of the mastermind behind these incredible projects, Sheikh Mohammed, became more and more incredible.

But in Dubai there was some problem for mass tourism. The fact is that the coastline is only 72 km, which is very small for organizing mass tourism. Sheikh Mohammed set out to build a beautiful island off the coast, whose coastline would increase several times the natural coastline of the coast. The idea arose to create an island in the form of a palm tree, a kind of symbol of a paradise in the world. A huge plus of this shape was that the coastline of the island would be 56 km longer than if it were just a rounded island.

In 2001, construction began on the island itself. The construction was planned to be completed in 2006. By this time, an island was to rise into the sea, on which luxury villas, hotels, shopping centers and all the necessary infrastructure would appear. Yes, the task is almost impossible! Impossible, but not for Sheikh Mohammed, who did not skimp on investing huge money in the necessary research, an invitation the best specialists from all over the world and pay for the ever-increasing needs of construction.

Sheikh Mohammed's idea was to create an island from natural materials, sand and stones without the use of reinforced concrete structures. This created additional difficulties for the builders. Every day they fought against the forces of the sea, trying to save what had already been done. After all, the water mercilessly eroded the sand and stones poured to build the island.

No one has ever built an island of this shape anywhere. The island, as I said, was supposed to consist of sand and stone in order to merge with the surrounding landscape, it should be shaped like a palm tree and it would be surrounded by a breakwater to protect it from the sea. rock formation and the sand that was supposed to go to the construction of the island would be enough to build a wall 2.5 meters high that would encircle the globe.

Dutch engineers were involved in the construction of the island. This choice is not accidental, because Holland won 35% of its entire territory from the sea.

Large-scale studies began on the possibility of building this island, the influence of tides, wind, rogue waves, storms, and even global warming was studied. Studies have shown that this part of the Persian Gulf - perfect place for the construction of a palm island. But fears were also caused by the so-called Shamal storm, which occurs in these places.

To protect the fragile island from erosion, it is necessary to build a breakwater that will encircle it.

Since the deadlines were very tight, it was decided not to wait for the completion of the research and start construction, but to simultaneously carry out the necessary research, which caused concern among the builders, because if they make a mistake, water can simply wash away the structures and all efforts will be in vain.

Island construction

Work began in the summer of 2001. But something terrible happened in September. The towers of the World Trade Center in the USA were attacked by terrorists. The flow of tourists to the Middle East has abruptly stopped. Nobody wanted to come here. Beaches, hotels and restaurants are empty. It was a tough time. But the work did not stop. Although the specialists involved in this project were determined to leave at any moment.

First, they began to build a breakwater. They poured tons of sand and stone on the bottom of the bay, then, mined from 16 quarries throughout the UAE, huge blocks weighing up to 6 tons were poured on top of the prepared embankment. These stones are held only by their mass, they are not held together by either concrete or iron. Divers constantly check every meter of the breakwater, in no case should this protection be destroyed. This powerful breakwater rises to 3 meters, and it is 11.5 km long. It must last forever!

During the construction of the breakwater, among other things, the builders encountered the Shamal storm, in 2002 it was a very strong storm that raged for 3 weeks. The builders could only wait and see if the unfinished breakwater could withstand the load.

Due to the forced downtime, the builders do not fit into the schedule, so it was decided to build the breakwater and the palm island itself at the same time. This is a very difficult job, because without a ready-made breakwater, the island will not be protected from the destructive effects of the sea and the work on its construction can be very complicated.

Sand for the construction of the island was mined at the bottom of the bay, 6 km from the coast, unfortunately, the sand of the desert, which is abundant in Dubai, was not suitable for this purpose, it is too small and the water would easily wash it away.

During construction, it was very important not to deviate from the given outlines of the island, which was not so easy, because almost all palm branches have a curved complex shape and it was very easy to get lost. But Dubai had a surprise prepared for the builders, greatly helping them in this difficult task. The fact is that Dubai has access to the only private artificial satellite, which is not inferior to the state satellites of Russia and the United States. Pictures were taken constantly during the work to make sure that the drawing of the island, the outlines of the palm tree are correct, the island is in place and everything is going according to plan. Such a huge superstructure can only be built using modern systems satellite navigation.

In 2002, construction continues, the world is watching the construction of a superstructure in the Persian Gulf, at the same time, confidence in the emirate is returning, tourists are reappearing here, business is starting to revive.

The island and the breakwater slowly appear above the sea. Of course, the construction was fraught with great difficulties, the sea constantly eroded what had already been done.

Unexpected problems arose along the way. For example, it turned out that water was stagnant near the island, which was unacceptable. Dirty stinking water is not needed for paradise island. But a solution was found, two breaks were made in the breakwater, through which the water would be renewed.

So, for a little over 2 years, Palm Island has grown in the Persian Gulf. There is still a lot of work ahead. You need to build 4500 buildings, shopping centers and hotels. But there was a problem: it is not easy to build on the sand, after washing it is loose and not dense enough to build houses on it. We had to find a way to compress the sand. Because natural compaction would take years, and the builders did not have this time. It was necessary to immediately begin the construction of infrastructure.

Another obstacle - Dubai is located on the border of a seismic zone. Earthquakes in this place are quite probable and they can be very strong. Two strong earthquakes took place near the construction of Palm Island in late 2003. Forces of shocks exceeded 6 points.

And finally, in the spring of 2004, Jumeirah Island is ready to become a gigantic construction site. The construction of the island has been completed, now the builders have begun building.

51 contractors build houses, roads, lay cables, pipes… 850 buses bring workers every day who work in two 12-hour shifts. Millions of tons of iron, concrete and other materials are brought in from all over the world.

At first it was assumed that 120 thousand people would live on Jumeirah Island, but when Palma was first introduced to the public, all the houses were sold out in 3 days, and it was decided to increase the number of buildings. Among the owners of houses on the island there are a lot of celebrities and the richest people on the planet.

When the construction of the island itself was completed, global problems. It turned out that in some places the water washes away the sand, changing the given outlines of Jumeirah. You will have to constantly monitor the coastline and wash up the sand in those places where the water washed it away.

It also turned out that the island that appeared in the bay has an impact on the coastline of the mainland itself. The nature of the wave movement in this place has changed. The current changes the shape of the coast, somewhere there is more sand, and somewhere it is washed away. There is a real danger that the coast will become uneven. If nothing is done, then this erosion can destroy hotels, private properties and roads on the coast. And this cannot be allowed.

Interestingly, for the ecology, the construction of the island had only a positive effect. The breakwater has created protection for fish and attracts new marine animals. Developers take advantage of this. In 2004, two fighter planes were lowered to the bottom to create a huge artificial reef.

The construction of Jumeirah inspired the sheikh to build two more palm-shaped islands, each larger than the previous one, and the Mir building, a group of 300 islands shaped like continents. All these structures lengthened the coast of Dubai from 72 km to 1500 km!
