Phu Quoc island when is the best time to relax. When is the best time to visit Fukuoka? Where is the best place to choose a hotel in Fukuoka

- the largest and most "paradise" in Vietnam. This is of course in quotation marks, because he is still very far from paradise. Everything about Phu Quoc Island 2019, how to get to Phu Quoc, what to see and what hotels to choose in Phu Quoc in Vietnam.

Phu Quoc has not yet been promoted, crowds of package tourists do not come here, there is not much traffic here, even roads are not everywhere. Moreover, direct charters fly to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam for only a few years. Mostly from Moscow. And not every day. Of the advantages of Phu Quoc Island - the roads are far from the coast, so there are hotels right on the seashore.

Fukuoka Map

To navigate the island, I recommend our branded offline map of Fukuoka. It highlights hotels, shops, attractions, exchange rates, weather. The map plots the route and determines the location without the Internet!

We went with a large company to Phu Quoc Island in 2019 for two weeks. Before departure, we thought for a long time where it would be better for us to go, to Vietnam or Thailand, but nevertheless we decided to stay in Vietnam. Because they really wanted to visit neighboring country Cambodia, see and the cable car to Pineapple Island (the longest cable car in the world over the sea!). We also wanted to get acquainted with Vietnam, which carries the culture of Western and Eastern civilization.

In general, going to Phu Quoc in the summer is not very a good idea. July is the rainiest month of the year. It's been raining for 2 weeks in a row. But at the end of August in Fukuoka it’s already not bad, there are several days without any rain at all. But on the west side of Phu Quoc, there are winds and waves. Officially, the rainy season lasts until October..

Phu Quoc Vietnam

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is a former French colony that has been heavily influenced by China and has long and established ties with Russia. I did not expect to see our KAMAZ and UAZ trucks in Fukuoka, and there are many of them here.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is located in the southwest of the country on the border with Cambodia. The travel agency assured us that this is one of the best places to stay in Vietnam, with excellent beaches, hotels in Phu Quoc in Vietnam and plenty of entertainment for a large company.

In fact, everything that the travel agency said turned out to be untrue. Phu Quoc is a village where tourism is in its infancy. The beaches are dirty and littered with rubbish. If the beach is from the hotel, then of course it is removed. Around the eternal construction, you can not drive up to the sea everywhere. The roads are half dirt, there is no lighting. But first things first.

Tours to Phu Quoc and Nha Trang

If you want to visit Phu Quoc 2019 for 1-2 weeks, then it’s easier to buy a tour. The price includes direct flight, transfer, hotel and insurance. If you go on your own, then only with a transfer.

How to get to Phu Quoc

by the most convenient way how to get to Phu Quoc on your own is a flight on Aeroflot or Vietnam Airlines through Ho Chi Minh City. The flight was quite comfortable and took place on a Boeing 767. The flight time was 9.5 hours, during which we were fed, watered, and we could also take ourselves watching entertainment programs. Upon arrival at Ho Chi Minh Airport, we had to transfer to local airlines.

Now it’s easier to buy a tour to Phu Quoc, where there will be a direct flight. Such tours are sold by Sanmar and Coral Travel. Therefore, you can not bathe with transplants.

Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is located on the outskirts of the city. The most remarkable thing is that there is nothing connecting between the terminals, there are no transitions, escalators and monorails. Upon arrival, after obtaining a visa, passing passport control and customs, you will need to walk a distance of almost half a kilometer to the terminal. Fortunately, we only had hand luggage with us and the distance was short. For the future, we realized that you can also take a taxi, with a landing fee of about 10 dollars.

From Ho Chi Minh to Phu Quoc

Attractions Fukuoka

Winperl

Arriving on the island of Phu Quoc Vietnam in 2019, you need to visit one of the main attractions - Vinpearl. It was built literally in 1 year, but is still being completed. Winpearl consists of two different parks, one with rides and water slides, the other a safari park. You can take a ticket separately, for attractions 500,000 dong, for a safari 600,000 dong, there is a single ticket for one day for 850,000 dong. Winpearl tickets are sold in all hotels and travel agencies. With this ticket, you can take the bus (goes along the main road towards Winperl) and get there for free. Back the same way. But this is only if you have a ticket. We enjoyed the safari in Fukuoka. Part of the park is reserved for the zoo, and part is for safari. You need to take a bus (included in the ticket price), which will pass through the savannah with wild animals.

cable car

The Sun World Cable Car is one of the best attractions in Phu Quoc. A ticket costs 500,000 VND, for this amount you will get to Pineapple Island and back. The road passes over the sea, from above open beautiful views like you're flying low in an airplane. On Pineapple Island, you need to take a golf cart (called a “buggy station” and drive to the beach). It's all included in the price. On the beach there are free sun loungers, chairs, showers, toilets. There is a cafe with unlimited food (just near the beach), it costs 250,000 dong per person. To swim in the sea, you must wear a vest (this is carefully monitored by lifeguards). Coming to Phu Quoc 2019, the cable car and Pineapple Island are a must-see!

coconut prison

Coconut Jail is the eerie reality of Fukuoka, once a prison island. Here you will see cells in which inhuman conditions held prisoners. The coconut prison closes at 17.00, so we didn’t get there the first time (we arrived late). I had to go another time.

Museum of Local Lore

In the southeast of Phu Quoc Island is local history museum. You can go there, but it is not necessary. Just if there is nothing to do, then you can.

The main attraction of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam is, of course, its nature, and almost all specimens of local flora and fauna are collected here. Those who wish to experience all the views in one place on their Phu Quoc holiday will find the museum interesting.

Cau Palace

Cau Palace is one of the attractions of Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam, it also has the same name as the Temple of the Sea Lady of Vietnam. We got there by taxi, as it is located relatively close to our hotel in Phu Quoc in Vietnam, near the Duong Dong waterfront.

This palace in Fukuoka serves as a lighthouse and has the status of a temple, and for the most amazing religion in the world - "kaodai". Adherents of this religion are recognized as saints famous people: Tolstoy, Lenin, Churchill, etc. So when you come to Phu Quoc 2019, you can still pray for our famous ancestors.

What else to see and where to go

On the island of Phu Quoc, we went to a rubber plantation, learned how black pepper grows and went to a fishing village, where we were fed a very tasty lunch.

Vietnam has the cheapest diving school, so if someone has a desire to learn, I advise you to do it here.

Also, the whole company flew to Hanoi during a vacation in Phu Quoc, where the main attractions of Vietnam are located: the Ho Chi Minh Palace, the Temple of Literature and others. Low-cost airlines and Vietnamese airlines fly there directly from Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The cost of a round-trip ticket is about $100 per person.

Phu Quoc Review

In conclusion, I would like to note that if you have seen enough beautiful pictures on the Internet, then the real island of Phu Quoc, Vietnam has nothing to do with them. Yes, if you rent a luxury hotel and don't go beyond it, perhaps ... It will be paradise here. But it will not be a real Phu Quoc, but just a picture.

If you want to explore Phu Quoc, Vietnam, then you will find bad roads, dirt, garbage and eternal construction. But this is real Vietnam. This is something worth seeing. Don't expect great service outside the hotel, it just doesn't exist. This will not tell the travel agency, you know.

About the tip. We argued with friends for a long time, shared our experience, how best. On the example of the then unspoiled places in Thailand, Bali, Goa ... People came, left big tips, and the locals decided that the prices were very low and began to raise them. In general, we came to the conclusion that you do not need to leave a tip in Phu Quoc in Vietnam. In order not to spoil and spoil the locals.

Phu Quoc, Vietnam is still a beach holiday. But the locals do not particularly cherish such beauty. If there is a city nearby, then the water will be dirty. If there is a hotel nearby, then everything will be clean and tidy. The direction of Phu Quoc, Vietnam is actively developing. Now huge complexes are being built on the seashore in all parts of the island. The food in Fukuoka is varied and tasty, lots of seafood, which I adore. But the menu is often without prices, so tourists pay more for everything.

In Fukuoka, few people know English language, Russian, of course, too. Therefore, it is often necessary to express yourself on the fingers. In many stores, in the market and even in cafes there are no prices, which personally does not suit me very much. The price will be shown on a calculator or a bill will be taken out, but what the cost will be depends on the mood of the seller.

Russians, by the way, are treated very well in Fukuoka. But the Chinese do not like. Service in our Fukuoka hotel in Vietnam was on high level, and generally liked everything. I recommend Phu Quoc 2019, Vietnam for those who have already visited Asia and are not afraid of dirt and garbage.

The advantages of Phu Quoc over the resorts of mainland Vietnam:

  • Phu Quoc is an island, which means that the coast here is quite shallow. The water warms up well, the waves are incomparably smaller than in Nha Trang or Mui Ne.
  • Here nothing reminds of big cities, only nature - the sea, the jungle. Phu Quoc is very well suited for a quiet, relaxed holiday.
  • The infrastructure of the island is already quite developed in order to make the rest comfortable: there is an international airport, Winpearl amusement park, excellent diving here.
  • This is the most southern resort Vietnam. Here you can relax when it is off-season in Mui Ne and Nha Trang - in January, February, etc.
  • This is European tourist resort, unlike, for example, Vung Tau. That is, the resort is adapted to the needs of Europeans and it is comfortable here.
  • In Fukuoka, you can find real solitude, there are still corners where there are very few tourists, quiet beaches, on which there are only a few houses.
  • Holidays in Phu Quoc go well with excursions in the Mekong Valley or a trip to Cambodia.

general information

Phu Quoc is a tropical island in Gulf of Thailand, the largest island in Vietnam. Its length is approximately 48 km and its width is 25 km. The island is located 45 km. from mainland Vietnam and only 15 km. from Cambodia.

Phu Quoc island from the plane

Phu Quoc administratively belongs to the province of Kien Giang, the capital of which is the city of Rat Gia. This province is mostly island, it includes 145 small and medium-sized islands, for the most part uninhabited. Phu Quoc belongs to a group of 22 islands, in which it is naturally the largest.

Until the 18th century, the island belonged to Cambodia. Long time this island was a disputed territory between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Cambodia has repeatedly tried to return Phu Quoc, but to no avail. This is also why Fukuoka still has military unit, although the presence of the military on the island is completely invisible to tourists.

There is another dark twist in the history of this beautiful island: during the days when Vietnam was a French colony, Phu Quoc was used as a prison for political prisoners, and during Vietnam War Vietcong captured by the Americans were kept here.

Now tourism is developing very quickly in Fukuoka, every year more and more new, large hotels are being built.

Phu Quoc? Phu Quoc? Fukok? Phu Quoc? How right?

In fact, all of the listed names are used, including by search engines for airline tickets and hotels, but the most used name in Russian was the name of Phu Quoc.

Please note that with very similar name Fukuoka is a city in Japan. This is very important point because sometimes there is confusion when booking hotels or flights.

Climate

Phu Quoc weather. When is the best time to go?

The climate of Fukuoka is tropical. The whole year the air temperature is kept in the range of 25-33 degrees, the water temperature is 27-28 degrees.

The best time to relax on the island is from November to March (inclusive), at which time the sky is blue, there is a minimum amount of rain, and the sea is calm.

From April to June, as well as in the second half of October, the weather here is as lucky. As a rule, the weather is good in the first half of the day, it can rain heavily in the afternoon. Also for the period from April to June, severe thunderstorms are characteristic.

From July to October, there is generally nothing for tourists to do on the island, there is a lot of rain, dirt roads around the island are washed out, it is difficult to move around on a motorbike. From July to September, the season of storms lasts here, at this time, as a rule, it is impossible to swim.

Visa to Vietnam

Do I need to get a visa when going to Phu Quoc

There is information on the Internet that Fukuoka has its own visa regime, and that if you buy a direct ticket here, then you do not need to obtain a visa. Is it so?

The easiest way to find out is to use international system TIMATIC, which guides all airlines when putting passengers on board. TIMATIC also contains information on transit visa requirements and even required vaccinations.

The TIMATIC service data can be checked, for example, for citizens of Russia and Ukraine there are no special reservations for traveling to Phu Quoc, that is, the general visa regime applies.

But in Phu Quoc, the airport is international, which means that if you make a “visa support” letter to Vietnam, an approval letter in advance, then a visa can be obtained upon arrival at the airport in Phu Quoc.

Russians can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 15 days. If during this period it is planned to leave the country (for example, to Cambodia, which is important for some travelers, since Cambodia is very close), then it will be possible to enter Vietnam without a visa only after 30 calendar days from the moment of departure.

If you plan to go on an excursion to Cambodia, then you need to obtain a visa to Vietnam. Please note that this is a new visa rule that is effective from January 1, 2015, so many of the previously written tips regarding visa-free entry / exit are no longer relevant.

Phu Quoc beaches

Fukuoka is surrounded by the sea, and, accordingly, the island is surrounded by a strip of sand. But there are not so many tourist beaches, that is, initially beautiful and equipped for the needs of tourists - these are Long Beach, Bai Sao, Oang Lang.

Long Beach (Duong-Duong, Zyondong, Duong Dong, Bai Truong)

It starts from the city of Duong Duong, stretches 7 km south of the capital of the island. The most developed, most popular beach.

The vast majority of tourists who travel to Phu Quoc stop at Long Beach. The sand is loose, yellowish.

Ong Lang

Ong Lang beach in Phu Quoc

Located on the west coast, a few kilometers from Long Beach. There are quite a few hotels here, but fewer than on Long Beach.

The beach is equipped, well-groomed, tourist. The sand is the same as on Long Beach - loose, yellowish, soft.

Dai Beach, Cape Gan Dau (Dai Beach, Cape Gan Dau, Ganh Dau Beach)

Beaches in the northwestern part of the island. From here you can see Cambodia and Mount Kompot. A few years ago it was a very quiet place, with several small resorts on the shore and restaurants.

In 2014, a huge 402-room Winperl hotel and an amusement park were built here.

Bai Sao (Sao Beach)

Bai Sao beach on Phu Quoc island

This beach is considered one of the most beautiful not only in Phu Quoc, but throughout Vietnam. White fine sand, coconut palms leaning towards the water, turquoise water…

There are few hotels here, in general the place is very quiet, but during the day tourists are brought here from Long Beach. If desired, it is easy to get here on your own, on a motorbike. A lot of people come here from Long Beach.

You can easily relax on the beach with children, because here the water is shallow, and in order to overcome it, you need to go quite far from the coast. At the same time, Bai Sao is almost constantly windy.

Wong Beach

A picturesque beach a few kilometers north of Bai Sao. Here, too, white sand, in some places separate stones, but not as hyped as Bai Sao. The beach is even wilder than Bai Sao. There is a lot of rubbish in the off season.

Khem Beach (Bai Khem)

The beach is about 1.5 km long. It is located just south of Bai Sao. For a long time the beach belonged to the military. The beach is beautiful, but since it is not touristy, it is not well maintained. There are several cafes for locals, a fishing village.

Attractions

Attractions and entertainment in Fukuoka

Vinperl Land

The amusement park fully opened in 2015. Included in the same network as Winperl in Nha Trang. It is located in the northwest of the island, about 25 km from Duong Dong.

There is an aqua park, an oceanarium, an amusement park, a slot machine hall, etc. There are left-luggage offices, showers.

The entrance ticket costs 500,000 VND, the ticket price includes the use of all attractions and entertainment. You only have to pay extra for restaurants.

How to get there: Free buses with the Vinperl Land logo run around the island starting at 9 am, the schedule can be obtained at the reception of any hotel.

Coconut Prison (Cay Dua Prison or Coconut Tree Prison)

The coconut prison was built by the French during the colonization of Vietnam in 1953. At that time, 14,000 prisoners, opponents of colonization, were kept here.

Since 1967, during the Vietnam War, the prison was used by the Americans. In American times, 40,000 prisoners were kept here.

A very dark place: barbed wire, iron sheds, installations that recreate the process of torture. The place is not to visit with children.

Entrance fee: 20,000 VND. Opening hours: 7:30 to 11:00 and 13:30 to 17:00, Tuesday to Sunday.

Coi Nguon Museum

Private local history museum. The only museum in Fukuoka in the classical sense - with halls, exhibits, etc. 149 Tran Hung Dao, Area 7, Duong Dong Town,

Dinh Cau Rock (Cua Temple)

Cao Dai Temple

Address: 30/4 Street, Duong Dong, Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam

Sung Hung Pagoda

There are several pagodas in Phu Quoc. For those who live on Long Beach, this pagoda is the most convenient to visit, since it is located near the Night Market.

Su Muon Pagoda

Small typical Vietnamese pagoda. Of course, this is not the attraction for which it is worth traveling half the world, but if you are already in Fukuoka and want to diversify your beach program, then you can look here.

Phu Quoc National Park

Trees in national park on the island of Phu Quoc

Located in the north of the island. A lot of people are misled by the word "park" in the title. Typical national park- it's a nature reserve.

Phukok National Park is a protected part of the rainforest, there are about 900 species of plants and about 150 species of animals, reptiles, etc.

Phu Quoc Waterfall

The waterfall looks more or less impressive only during the rainy season and immediately after it, then the water becomes scarce and the river dries up.

During the dry season, the water dries up, but you can still walk here to look at a tropical forest. It is best to arrive early in the morning.

During the day, there are many people here, including locals who love to come here. Usually all the garbage that remains after picnics, they leave behind. In the morning there is a chance to find silence and cleanliness.

Plantations of black pepper

Phu Quoc produces the best black pepper in all of Vietnam. There are several such plantations on the island.

As an independent attraction, such plantations are not particularly interesting. But tourists are brought here as part of almost all tours around the island.

Pearl Plantations

There are several pearl farms in Phu Quoc. Phu Quoc is considered to be a very good pearl, since the sea is warm here, which is very good for shells.

Pearl farms are almost imported as part of excursions. Naturally, final stage farm visit is a visit to the pearl shop at the farm. The prices there are usually high, but the guarantee is that the pearls are real.

fish sauce factory

The Vietnamese cannot imagine dinner without Nuoc Mam fish sauce. In Vietnam, fish sauce has the same meaning as, for example, salt in European cuisine.

Fish sauce is made in special factories and only fish and salt are needed to make it. Fish sauce is made like this: small fish (usually anchovies) are sprinkled with salt, put into barrels and left for 9-12 months.

Periodically, the barrels are opened, left in the sun to speed up the fermentation. Gradually formed in barrels a large number of red-brown liquid, it is poured into clean barrels, kept in air for several weeks to weather the smell. In this way, a first-class fish sauce is obtained.

Sauce of the second and third grade is made with the addition of water. The lower grade sauce is made by boiling the remains of fish from barrels. Often, factories mix low-grade sauce with high-quality sauce to get a large amount of acceptable sauce, sometimes glutamate, sugar, dyes are added.

Choosing a first-class fish sauce is easy - it should be whiskey-colored, reddish brown, completely transparent. If the sauce is dark, then it is of poor quality or has been sitting for too long.

There are several fish sauce factories in Phu Quoc, and it is believed that Phu Quoc makes the best sauce in all of Vietnam. You can visit the sauce factory, there is no terrible smell that knocks you down. You can look at the technology, look into the barrels.

Attention: in Vietnam there is a ban on the export of fish sauce from the country. It is forbidden by the rules to transport it even by domestic airlines. Sometimes it is possible to carry it in luggage, but in most cases the bottles are taken away. So it is unrealistic to bring fish sauce as a souvenir from Vietnam.

Diving

Diving is also what many people go to Phu Quoc for. There is a warm sea, pristine corals, no dangerous sharks.

Dives here take place in the northwestern part of the island and in the south, in the area of the archipelago of islands.

Phu Quoc Island Hotels

In Fukuoka, you can find hotels of any level of comfort - from spectacular and luxurious five-star hotels to inexpensive guesthouses. But each category has its best ones. Below is a short overview of the best hotels on the island.

Budget hotels and guesthouses in Phu Quoc

Hoa Nhat Lan Bungalow

The best option for the most budget accommodation. Only 10 rooms. All are air-conditioned.

La Mer Resort

The hotel is not on the first line, but the beach is only 3-5 minutes walk. Beautiful territory, very cozy bungalows, swimming pool. Good suggestion.

Lan Anh Garden Resort

Very a good option to accommodate. There is a swimming pool, the beach is only 200 meters away. Green cozy area, there are sun loungers, swings, etc.

All rooms have air conditioning and fans. But please note that the standard rooms do not have a terrace.

Castaways Resort

Perhaps the hotel is a little lacking in greenery, but there is a swimming pool, the sea is nearby (but the hotel is not on the first line), the bungalows are very decent. And at the same time quite inexpensive for such conditions.

Bungalow Mai Phuong Binh

Beach 200 meters. The rooms are equipped with air conditioners. You can rent bicycles, there is a transfer service from / to the airport.

Ninila Fruit Farm Bungalow

The complex is being built. Very good budget place, there are only 8 bamboo bungalows. Rooms with fan, hot water available. Worth not on the beach, but you can take free bikes.

Phu Quoc island hotels - 3 stars

Peppercorn Beach Resort

The hotel is located in the northern part of the beach, in a secluded area.

Russian-speaking travelers almost never stay here, but among Western travelers this is a very popular hotel with leading positions in booking systems.

This is a place for those who are looking for peace, solitude and silence, want to stay away from the main tourist streams. Perhaps such a distance from civilization for 2 weeks is too much, but for 2-3 days it's just fine.

There are only 12 bungalows, a restaurant, hammocks on the beach among coconut trees. There is no pool. In principle, the lack of a pool can be a problem, since sometimes jellyfish and biting plankton appear in the sea around Phu Quoc. But only 3 km from the hotel there is a golf club with a field of 27 holes.

Orange Resort

Very good value for money, the hotel is on the beach, has a private beach, pool. It is better to focus on the deluxe bungalows, since the standard and superior rooms are in the long building.

Cottage Village

Small hotel, 20 bungalows. Is in quiet place, a 10-minute walk from Ong Lang Beach. Bicycles can be borrowed free of charge from the hotel or a motorbike can be rented for a fee.

Very beautiful green area, swimming pool, well maintained bungalows. Free airport transfer and back for stays of 5 or more days. Relatively inexpensive.

Arcadia Phu Quoc Resort

A very popular hotel. Complex of rooms and beautiful bungalows. Here it makes sense to focus only on bungalows, some rooms in the building are quite dark due to small windows.

It is located on a very good part of the beach with a developed tourist infrastructure (restaurants, cafes). Of the shortcomings - the lack of a pool, there are not always enough sunbeds.

Langchia Village - Famiana Village

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from Long Beach. Green area. Swimming pool.

Phu Quoc island hotels - 4 stars

La Veranda Resort Phu Quoc

The hotel belongs to a large network of upscale hotels MGallery, the network unites about 50 hotels on all continents.

Exquisite hotel, beautiful colonial style building, the highest standards of service. Beautiful, very well maintained part of the beach with a wide strip of sand. Beautiful restaurant.

Chen Sea Resort & Spa Phu Quoc

A small complex of bungalows and villas. There are villas with their own spa pool ( fresh water, hydromassage).

Sea Sense Resort

The hotel is located away from the main cluster of hotels, in a very quiet place. Here you should focus on suites with sea views and beach villas, ordinary rooms are not so spectacular.

Sea view suites and villas are newly refurbished, very stylish and comfortable, all modern facilities. There is a view pool, the area in front of the pool is well organized so that everyone can enjoy the sea view.

Famiana Resort & Spa

A hotel for a quiet, respectable holiday. There are two groups of rooms - on the beach and in the "Green Zone", behind the road, from where they take an electric car to the beach.

The hotel has excellent service, very good restaurant. Everyone who stays here celebrates very tasty, generous breakfasts with fruits and desserts.

The hotel is ideal for families with children - there is a very clean beach and the sea (a section of the sea around the perimeter is fenced with buoys, for safety and protection from debris. There is an employee near the pool who closely monitors the bathing of children. There is a small trampoline and a slide for children on the water .

The hotel is very large territory, deck chairs, swings under palm trees. Good internet throughout, including the beach. Free transfer from / to the airport. Good SPA. Everything is there for a comfortable, relaxed stay.

Saigon Phu Quoc Resort & Spa

Very nice hotel with large area and a long strip of its own beach. Great pool. Free airport transfer, free bike rental. Good SPA.

Part of the sea in front of the hotel's beach is fenced with a net for safe swimming and protection from debris. There is a tennis court, a playground, in the sea for children there are small inflatable slides.

Vinpearl Resort Phu Quoc 5*

Included in the same network as Winperl in Nha Trang. The largest (570 rooms) and expensive hotel on the island. Opened at the end of 2014.

Villas

Villas in Phu Quoc Island Phu Quoc Private Villa For the price of a room in a 4-star hotel! 200-meter villa with 3 bedrooms and a private pool!

Very good suggestion for a large company up to 6 people. Fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning, rain shower. Mine beautiful garden. Privacy - there are only 2 villas. To the beach 2 km.

Lying back in a hammock, watching the gentle waves, basking in the Vietnamese sun, you may wonder why so many people still don't know about Phu Quoc Island. Of course, because it is not discussed in the press as much as the islands of Thailand, and maybe it will not even be offered to you at the travel agency that you contact before starting your vacation. But in vain they will not offer - with wild jungle, creaky white sand and clear azure waters, this 600 sq. km. more than fits the picture of paradise that you probably drew in your head.

This island is located, which in its shape resembles South America, 65 kilometers from the south west coast Vietnam and just 15 kilometers from the coast of Cambodia, which, by the way, once owned this piece of heavenly land.

Although a continuous beach line (120 kilometers) stretches almost along the entire length of the western coast of the island, only a small part of the beaches is prepared for tourists. That is, the island, one might say, is semi-wild.

Those who have already visited the islands in Southeast Asia more than once (which are simply amazing in themselves) will still be impressed by Phu Quoc. The combination of secluded and deserted beaches and a thriving, small but still cleanest and nicest main town of Duong Dong makes Phu Quoc a truly rare find.

Given the ease of access (20 minutes flight from Ratse or an hour flight from Saigon, but you can also take a ferry from Ratse or Hon Chong - also relatively short), this amazing island remains not so developed and, one might say, untouched. However, the Vietnamese government has huge plans for the island - they want to make it a tourist tidbit with many hotels and entertainment centers. So far, these plans remain unrealized, and, we hope, will remain only on paper for the foreseeable future.

The island has something for everyone - and it really is! Surrounded by more than a dozen bays and beaches, yellow sand and stretches of dazzling white sand, a scattering of small islands off the south coast (which are just wonderful, especially for diving), wet jungles and several fishing villages - in general, the island has plenty of beautiful places, which will make you regret that your vacation is not endless.

Most best beach, according to many long beach, Long Beach On The West Shore Of The Island. With several bars, it is comfortable and at the same time quite quiet. And some endless.
True, the sand there is a little rougher, but this does not upset anyone at all. And yet, this empty beach can be a little dirty with the garbage that the sea brings - but these are not cans, bottles, papers, but typical "marine" garbage - pieces of wood and algae, although sometimes a couple swims plastic bottles. But basically, the water here is very clean, very warm and calm, especially in the morning.

In the south of the island you will find Sao Beach- a magnificent beach with fine white sand, calm waters. Oddly enough, there are few people there, despite the massive restaurants. True, getting to Sao Beach is not very convenient due to bad roads, so a miserable 30 kilometers can be a complete torment.

Beach Ong Lang Beach on the west coast - very secluded and romantic. There are a couple of seafood restaurants, and a couple of bungalows - just a romantic boutique! Moreover, the bungalows stand on a gentle hill, and there is a coconut grove nearby. Just a few minutes walk and you will find Bo Resort, after which there is a 5 km empty beach, without a single bungalow or bar, and most often without people.

Accommodation options in Fukuoka cover the full spectrum for all budgets. From guesthouses for backpackers to rather unusual and beach resorts and hotels. But luxury hotels, which you might expect, you will not find here and will not find. But it is not necessary - with such and such beauties of nature!

It is also worth noting that tourist infrastructure here is also so-so, for example, there is no perfect service The roads aren't perfect either. The beaches here, although heavenly, but in some places the entrance to the sea is simply unbearable. From sports activities, diving and snorkeling (there are diving centers), but the rest of the species are somehow not particularly developed.
Well, lying on the beach and relaxing to the ends of your hair is the best place, and you can do it almost all year round, except perhaps in October, when the rainy season begins. And the island is not hit by tsunamis, there are no strong waves and sharks (if this is someone's concern in the first place). So, most of the guests arriving on the island do nothing but the daily journey: bungalow-beach-restaurant-beach-bungalow - and so on until the end of the holiday. So, if you are a fan of such a vacation, welcome to Phu Quoc.

Unlike Thailand, accommodation options here are of a slightly different standard. There are few bungalows as such, but mostly brick-stone chalets and something like that. Well, more hotels. Sometimes it can be quite difficult to book a room, but during the rainy season there will be no problems.

If you don’t want to be lazy, rent a motorcycle and a map - there is something to explore and admire. I recommend a trip to the southern edge of the city - the beaches there are the best!
Some beaches of the island are private and belong to hotels, the rest are free to visit. Also, you can go to plantation of sea pearls- to the delight of the ladies.
About how a pearl grows in a shell - they will show you clearly there, and all this is very impressive. You can buy something at the same time, however, do not count on low prices.

Also unlike the islands of Thailand, Phu Quoc has a very limited selection of bars and clubs. There are a couple of places where you can drink beer in the evening or at night, but most likely you will be sitting alone.

In general, there are a lot of advantages of the island: excellent climate, luxurious secluded beaches, few tourists, inexpensive accommodation, romantic views. The best place for honeymooners Honeymoon, perhaps! And what photos you get!

Most active tourists leave Phu Quoc for dessert - as the final stop in Vietnam before heading home - and then get frustrated that a couple of nights on the island just isn't enough. So, make sure in advance that you can afford to spend enough time in Fukuoka.

We flew here on September 15th. The sky was covered with clouds, there was a lot of humidity and it was difficult to breathe. Pleasant staff met us at the La Veranda Hotel. The hotel made an impression, huge room, clean and green area. The beach is amazing, nice and clean. But the waves were huge and there was a lot of rubbish floating in the sea in the form of packages and some other things. I did not pay attention to this trifle, because we flew here for 10 hours and did not want to notice anything bad. In the evening we decided to take a free bus that departed from the hotel to the night market. There were 6 tents with seafood, all seafood was on the shelves and not in the refrigerator. Again, I again did not pay any attention to this, we ordered 20 oysters, 2 large shrimp and crab soup. The oysters were fresh, we first asked for them fresh with lemon juice, as we usually ate in a fish restaurant in Moscow. there was a lot of meat in them and the taste was completely different. Sometimes there was a smell from dirty tables that were not covered with tablecloths. Perhaps it also spoiled the whole appetite. Then we were offered wine, we have not yet drunk worse byrla. Shrimps looked more like meat than shrimp, they were not salty and just as tasteless, although they were made on the grill ((((. Well, one day does not count. We decided for ourselves that we will not go there again, the audience there is strange, as I understand it, mostly Vietnamese who drink a lot of beer and throw dirty napkins with empty cans right at their feet, I even took a picture of it.

The next day - it was raining, no, not raining, it was a downpour, and it went on non-stop from morning until 3 o’clock in the afternoon, then everything calmed down and we ran rainbow-colored to the sea, we just didn’t go into it, huge waves of brown the colors crashed against the shore and the wind simply carried away everything that lay badly. We moved to the pool and oh hallelujah I even took a dip in it. But while we were running and looking for shelter from the wind, it was already dark, around six on the island it was completely dark. So two hours spent by the pool was not enough for us. In the evening we decided to have dinner in a restaurant next to the hotel, as the hotel prices are exorbitant. Everything is in dollars, and at what they recalculate them for you at the highest rate. If the rate is 21 at the hotel, then be sure that they will count you at the rate of 25. Well, you could eat at the hotel for $ 60, but when a restaurant with delicious food and the price is three times less, then I no longer wanted to eat the same thing three times more expensive. Restaurant le cocotier, it has the most delicious crab soup in town. And we tried it in the city in let's try and high to us (this is the name of the restaurants). Even in our expensive hotel, we also tried it. There are more peas and carrots than crab meat in general. So for crab soup only go there, although I think everything is changeable in terms of food. According to the reviews of tourists, a restaurant closer to our hotel was praised, it is called Palm. I address you with full responsibility - the food there is bad not in terms of taste, but in terms of rottenness. This is the only place from which it was bad for both my husband and me all day.

The next morning it was raining again, there is nothing to say about it, we were sitting in the room. The downpour was constant.

The next day we planned an excursion to the island of bao sao, along with fishing and trips to other islands. I even caught a fish. We met Australians, a great couple, spent the whole day together and laughed a lot. There was no rain, but the sky was overcast to the most I can't. Pardon the jargon. The only danger that awaits you there is that when you jump into the water from a boat, you can get hurt on the coral reefs, so the Englishman cut his stomach, only two scratches, but it was unpleasant! Attention, do not jump into the water.

Morning of the next day. Raining again.

Morning of another day, it's raining again.

And so it was all week.

since I tried to find reviews about the rainy season in Fukuoka and did not find it, I want to help people who are planning to go here from May to October. This is not Thailand or Phuket with its rains for 5 minutes, and the rest of the time the burning sun through the overcast clouds. It's raining heavily and the weather is gloomy. And we Russians love the sun and the calm sea. So let my review help someone make the right choice.

The impression was terrible only because of the rain. And the people are friendly and kind.

Phu Quoc is a tropical island in the south of Vietnam. It attracts tourists, promising paradise beaches, cheap seafood, beautiful holidays in resorts. Are these promises true? In general, yes. In Fukuoka, you can have a great rest and it is worth a trip here. But the island shows its Vietnamese character - nuances and reservations will be typed, as in a contract with a cunning lawyer. You don’t need to give up your vacation, just read our review and tips. Forewarned is forearmed.

Tourists go to Phu Quoc for cheap seafood. Yes, they are in abundance here. But you can enjoy seafood at any resorts in Vietnam - and the prices are at and below.

Holidays in Fukuoka safe in terms of natural disasters, unlike the center of Vietnam. The island is protected by a mountain range. Tsunamis do not happen here, typhoons do not rage. The climate itself is milder, there is no strong heat.

For now no general russification, as in Nha Trang or, so basic knowledge of English will come in handy.

In general, Phu Quoc produces mixed impression: it is quiet and calm, but the infrastructure is poorly developed, prices are high by Vietnamese standards, there are few sights.

Rush Vem is a picturesque beach with starfish in the north of Phu Quoc.

When is the best time to go to Phu Quoc? Weather and seasons - 2019

Almost the whole year the temperature remains at the same level: air +29...+31°С, water +26...+28°С.

holiday season. It is better to go to Phu Quoc Island to rest - it is warm and dry. However, prices are highest from December to April. The island is especially popular on. At this time, the number of Russian tourists increases significantly. We rested in Fukuoka in December and January, also meeting here New Year.

hot season. From April to June it gets hotter, there is still not much rainfall. You can relax, but not as comfortable as in winter. In the reviews, tourists note that from mid-March to May there may be jellyfish in the sea.

Rain season in Fukuoka begins in July, the maximum amount of precipitation falls in September and October. The rest of the time the island has favorable conditions for beach holiday, diving and snorkeling.

Long Beach is the longest on the island.

Phu Quoc beaches

Fukuoka has many beaches - the island is famous for them.

Long Beach- the longest and most popular beach in Phu Quoc. It is here that almost the entire tourist infrastructure of the island is concentrated: hotels, resorts, cafes, restaurants, dive centers. Getting to the beach itself is not so easy! The entire first line is completely occupied by expensive resorts and hotels. They do not want to let vacationers through their territory; they have to wander through the labyrinth in search of an outlet to the sea. They can also drive away from the beach - everyone best places occupied by sun loungers of hotels from the first line. The beach, by the way, is very narrow and cramped. We recommend choosing others for relaxation.

bai sao- This beach is considered the best in Fukuoka. Beautiful beach with fine powdery sand, quite wide. It is located in the southeastern part of the island, you need to go to it by bike or taxi. There are very few hotels here. There is a cafe, fruit stalls, showers, toilets.

In the northern part of the island there are several wild and sparsely populated beaches - all with a flat bottom, clean water and completely white sand. It is here that the beach with starfish is located. Amazing place - definitely go! There are almost no hotels and resorts, but there are seafood restaurants. Come here for beauty, solitude and silence.

Hotel prices - 2019

The choice of housing in Fukuoka is large: there are both cheap guesthouses and luxury resorts. We like to test different accommodations, so we lived in Fukuoka in a guesthouse, a hotel, and three resorts.

Hotels Phu Quoc is more expensive than other resorts in Vietnam. A decent room will cost from $25 (we recommend the Sailing Hotel).

Guesthouses. You can find a cheap room in a guest house for $ 9, but such accommodation is far from the beach. We lived in a family guest house.

Resorts. It is best to relax in Fukuoka in resorts - these are oases of peace and tranquility. Reasonable prices:

  • For a double house in a modest but cozy Cozy resort, we paid $25.
  • Good resorts with a pool and breakfast cost from $40. We rested in Miana Resort and - we recommend.
  • There are also very cool five-star resorts with luxury villas for $150 per night - for example, The Shells Resort & Spa.

Search hotels with discounts at Skyscanner Hotels. Here are the main ones.

The Hill Resort is a good resort in Fukuoka for $40 per night.

What to see in Fukuoka

Holidays in Fukuoka are mostly beach holidays. There are few attractions on the island: there is a large national park-reserve, waterfalls, pagodas and temples, Winpearl Amusement Park and Safari, cable car to Thom Island, pearl plantation, coconut prison and fish sauce factory. The brightest and most colorful - floating village and a beach with starfish in the north of the island, the port and town of An Thoi in the south.

We advise you to rent a motorbike (150 thousand VND per day) and ride around the island, exploring its sights. Roads outside the city and the tourist area are free - it's a pleasure to drive! We even celebrated the New Year - 2018, riding a bike on empty night roads.

We recommend renting a bike in Fukuoka - with it you will see many interesting places!

Excursions in Fukuoka in 2019

  • Amusement park "Vinperl" - 500 thousand dongs ($ 22).
  • Safari - 600 thousand VND ($ 27).
  • A comprehensive program with snorkeling, short fishing, dinner and an excursion - from $ 17.
  • The same, but with night fishing for squid - from $30.
  • Diving: dive - from $70, course - from $340. Diving in Fukuoka is considered one of the cheapest in the world. good place for snorkeling and diving consider the An Thới Islands archipelago.
  • A two-day tour to neighboring Cambodia and Singapore costs $200-250.
  • Yachting is not developed, but you can ride a boat or pleasure boat.
  • Wedding ceremony - from $1000.

Some northern beaches have starfish.

Food prices - 2019. Is the food good?

In Fukuoka cook tasteless, and in a number of tourist cafes it is completely disgusting. This is noted by many tourists in their reviews. Being lovers of Vietnamese cuisine, we also believe that Phu Quoc Island is much inferior to other resorts in Vietnam in terms of the quality of cuisine.

Food prices also not happy. Everything is more expensive in Fukuoka than on the mainland. Smoothies - from 20 thousand VND, rice with chicken or seafood in a tourist cafe - from 70 thousand. A serving of fish, squid or shrimp - from 100 thousand. In the capital of the island - the city of Duong Dong - you can eat cheaper.

To eat tasty and inexpensive, avoid tourist establishments and look for places where the Vietnamese themselves eat.

FROM grocery stores Fukuoka is very bad. Even a rural store in the Russian outback will seem like a hypermarket compared to them. The assortment includes only specific Asian snacks, beer, soda, crackers and other snacks. Fortunately, everything is in order on the island: there are many sellers, prices are reasonable.

shopping

There are practically none in Fukuoka, with the exception of small shops and a night market. You can buy shower clothes, pearls, coffee, cocoa, local black pepper and souvenirs. For more impressive shopping, it is better to go to Ho Chi Minh City.

On popular beaches, you can buy inexpensive cuts of fruit from sellers.

It is better to book a hotel in Fukuoka in advance, especially for the New Year. We planned our trip late and the choice of accommodation was modest.

There is no public transport on the island. If only a free bus to the amusement park "Winperl" and a regular bus to the village of An Thoi. Rent a bike and ride for fun! If driving without rules (and the Vietnamese have not even heard of traffic rules) is unacceptable for you, use a taxi - they are in abundance here.

Mosquitoes on the island eat mercilessly! Nasty mosquitoes will disturb your sleep and bite you in a cafe during dinner. Stock up on fumigators and repellents.

Withdraw money from MB (Military Bank) ATMs - they are the only ones that do not charge a commission.

There are no buses from Fukuoka airport, only taxis. However, many hotels and resorts provide guests with a free shuttle - check when booking.

Don't limit yours to Fukuoka. Outside the island - all the most interesting: culture, nature, cuisine, historical sights.

Long Beach faces west, so you can watch beautiful sunsets on the shore.
