How to relax in Miami - vacation in Miami with the whole family. When is the best time to go on vacation to Miami, Florida? From the above, we can conclude that it is best to vacation in South Florida in terms of weather conditions and savings during the "transition months". This is

The main resort of Florida and the USA as a whole is Miami. This resort has many endless sunny beaches, a docile climate and plenty of entertainment for every taste. The main tourist areas are the world's most popular Miami Beach and South Beach.

This is the Art Deco district, which is located in the southern part of Miami Beach. It consists of small buildings that were built in the 20-30s of the last century in the Art Nouveau style. Chic restaurants and shops will impress any tourist. The epicenter of all entertainment is Ocean Drive - it is on it that such a famous person as Morgan Dexter likes to organize promenades.

The water in the ocean warms up to 20-24°C. The threat of storms and hurricanes falls on July-August.

Transport

To Miami special attention requires a surface metro, as the road could not be laid underground due to a very thin layer of limestone. Metro is the best vehicle, since it is much more interesting to cross the Miami River along a beautiful bridge than through a tunnel. Such trains run without a driver, they are fully automated, so if you manage to take a seat in the first car, you are guaranteed a luxurious and unforgettable panorama.

There you can find both luxurious apartments and comfortable rooms that will be affordable for every tourist. If you are traveling with children - stop your choice on North Miami Beach. Here are some addresses that fit this description of hotels: Sea View Hotel On The Ocean 3*, Fontainebleau Miami Beach Resort 4*, Eden Roc A Renaissance Resort 4*, Four Points Sheraton Miami Beach 4*. It is worth noting that when relaxing in the summer in the presented hotels, the 4th night will be free for you. The cost of a simple room on average will be from 140 to 170 dollars per day.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions in Miami

"Parrot Jungle" is a park with a mass exotic plants with waterfalls and lakes, where over 1200 tropical birds live. "Monkey Jungle" is a tropical reserve where you can see various monkeys. They live in natural conditions. For the safety of visitors to the park, the animals were fenced off with special glass walls.

This is interesting: The Lionland Reserve is a specialized zoo in which animals live in natural conditions that repeat the landscape of South Africa. Visiting this zoo, you can admire giraffes, lions, rhinos, zebras, elephants, antelopes and chimpanzees.

Among the exhibits of the Police Museum, which is dedicated to policemen who died in the line of duty, you can see the gas chamber, electric chair, many different weapons of crime, as well as the technical means used by the police.

Villa Biscay is a palace built in the style of the Italian Renaissance. An art museum has now been built on its territory. Everglades Park is located half an hour from Miami. This national park is the largest in the United States, and it has remarkably preserved wild nature subtropics.

In addition to all the above attractions, you can also take a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center, which is located on Cape Canaveral - the launch site of American spaceships and the operating space center or go to the most south point USA, Key West.

A trip to Key West will be remembered by you as a flight on the water surface, because there is a lot of water around and there is practically no asphalt, a desire to visit Cuba and magnificent shrimp caught with a view of the cruise ship.

The first underwater park is located in the Florida Keys, an 80-minute drive from Key Largo. He celebrated his fiftieth birthday in December 2010. Here you will find a 3 meter statue of Christ, made of bronze. Its weight is 1.8 tons. It is located under water at a depth of 6.5 meters. This exact copy the statue of the same name, which is kept in the Mediterranean Sea near the Italian Genoa.

This is interesting: You can also ride a boat, a sea tram or a yacht to the marine aquarium for a show of dolphins, sharks and fur seals. The cost of such a ticket for an adult is $18, for a child $13.

For hikers, there are overland trails along the Indian trails. On them you can get to the Indian villages for tourists, where you will be met by the "tribal leaders" and will be happy to show you their wigwams. They willingly take pictures with tourists as a keepsake.

Diving

The main "chip" of diving in Miami are specially artificial Coral reefs. They are recognized as the best in the world. You can also admire the sunken ships.

That Miami area has ten various places with artificial reefs. Some of them are between Key Biscayne and Miami-Dade, the rest between Monroe and Key Biscayne. The best one is under 130 feet of water a few miles from Sunny Island.

With objects for underwater exploration in Miami, full openwork. There are more than 30 sunken ships, 3 oil platforms and several scuttled American tanks.

Miami located on the southern edge USA. Miami has a tropical climate. When is the best time to go to Miami?

Miami open to tourists at any time of the year, however, the best time to visit Miami depends on your financial capabilities.

January. February. Coldest months in Florida. The temperature jumps from +17 to +25 degrees. While elsewhere The earth is coming snow, people in Miami begin to sunbathe under the sun, swim in the ocean. There is practically no rain, and if there is, it ends quickly. The evenings are sometimes chilly.

March. April. Gradually, the temperature rises from a minimum of +20 to a maximum of +28. It gets hot during the day and comfortable in the evening. In March, the winter season ends, the temperature in the ocean warms up and becomes suitable for swimming.

October. November. December. End of summer season. The rains stop falling. It doesn't get so hot and it doesn't get so cold. Perhaps the best time to relax.

Peak tourist season in Miami starts in mid-November and ends in mid-April. Usually the weather in Miami is beautiful and caressing, warm, but not too much hot.

This famous resort also has a rainy season that lasts all summer. It starts in May and ends in September. Rain accompaniment adversely affects rest strong hurricanes and a storm at sea that makes swimming impossible. Nevertheless, it is at this time that a vacation in Miami is considered the most enjoyable, because the rains not only overshadow the rest, but also give coolness, relieving the suffocating heat. In addition, if suddenly your swimming in the sea is spoiled by a hurricane, then you can continue water procedures in the pool of your hotel, which may well replace the sea, as it is filled with sea water.

IN flow season, tourists from all over the world seek to visit the pearl of relaxation in USAMiami.

peak for tourists season also means that have to spend a little more money to Miami hotels or rented apartments.

Price for hotels and apartments may vary depending on season. Often the difference is up to 50% of the difference in price between the peak season and the off-season. Behind recent Over the years, Miami has become a world-famous tourist destination. It goes on here all the time a large number of exhibitions, fairs, conferences, concerts of stars and their number is increasing every year.

miami scourge Relative off-season in Miami starts at May and continues until the beginning November. This is the best time to book hotels and apartments in advance.

It is worth noting that in July and August and also in the second half November Miami hosts a huge number of tourists from Europe and latin America. For tourists in Miami consulates of European countries and consulates of countries latin America.

FROM June on October Miami is in the hurricane season, the climate becomes much hotter and more humid. IN such days usually in the early morning and late evening there is short-term heavy rain.

I think that most travelers go to the USA not for a couple of days, but at least for a week and usually plan to see not just one city, but at least big piece this far from the smallest country. So we swung at almost the entire east coast in three weeks. Apart from the fact that we first visited, we waved another 2,500 km south of New York and visited many cities, eventually reaching Key West itself. One of the cities where we managed to visit was Miami - it is located in the southeast of the United States of America and at the same time the Florida peninsula in the state of the same name.

We drove there in a rented car in New York, and after the billboard with the name of the state, signs to orange farms and beaches began to appear on the road. As we soon found out, the locals call Florida "the sunny and orange state."

Sign at the entrance to the state

Oranges and tourists owe their appearance here to the tropical monsoon climate and the proximity of the warm ocean current.

History and Population of Miami

Before the Europeans, these warm lands were inhabited by the Indians. The first representatives of the Old World who arrived here were the Spaniards, but after the United States gained independence, the British established general order. Subsequently, due to the location of the state and the climate, representatives of different countries and peoples, having founded corners of their culture in the city.

How to get there

The options for getting to Miami are quite diverse and may vary depending on the goals, objectives, time and budget available, as well as the location of the traveler. Main ways:

  • airplane
  • train
  • bus
  • automobile.

Our route and hopefully yours

The way to Miami is not close and will take a significant amount of time, even if you use the plane.

By plane

This is the most fast way. From Russia, you can get to Miami in different ways:

  • Once every two days (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) Aeroflot planes fly at a price of about 500 USD per ticket (13 hours will be spent on the flight).
  • You can also build complex routes through European airports with transfers. It is longer, but cheaper, for example, it will take about a day to cross the road, but tickets will cost 150 USD cheaper. You can find tickets for the dates you need using well-known search engines, or.

Both flight options from Russia will take you to Miami International Airport located in the western part of the city, literally 7 kilometers from the center. This road will take you 20 minutes by car or 30 minutes by subway from Miami International Airport Station.

Flight options if you are already in the US:

  • From John F. Kennedy Airport or from LaGuardia in New York, for example, a Delta airline flight takes a little more than 3 hours, airfare ranges from 150 to 300 USD, depending on the time of day.
  • From Ronald Reagan Airport, in Washington, it takes less than 3 hours to fly, the ticket price will be 100-120 USD.
  • Serves Miami on domestic flights and Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood Airport, located slightly north of the city. It takes about 40 minutes by car or taxi from the airport to the city center.

By train

The company offers to travel from New York (starting from Penn Station) 28 or 31 hours with a ticket costing from 100 USD and departing at 11:00 or 15:00.

If you are suddenly already in Washington, then at Union Station you can catch the same trains, but the road will be a little faster and cheaper. Trains run every day, tickets can be purchased both online and directly at the departure stations.

The arrival station is called « Miami", from it to the center 25 minutes by car or taxi and the same 25 or 30 minutes by metro from the Tri-Rail station nearest to the station.

The train that will take you south

By bus

Greyhound offers a ride around east coast from New York (Port Authority station at 625 8th Ave, NY 10018) at a price of 70 USD, depending on the day of the week and time of departure.

In this case, the journey will take from 30 to 35 hours and may require from 0 to 2 transfers. The bus makes several stops in the city, the last of which is at Miami International Airport.

Bus across the whole east coast

By car

Probably my favorite way. Not the most budgetary, but the most free from the regime, schedule. It allows you to stop and watch whatever your heart desires, there is in the best restaurants seafood in Georgia, swimming on any Florida beach, spending the night in atmospheric motels and stuff like that.

Bridge-tunnel across the Chesapeake Bay 28 km long

The road from New York will take about 20 hours, not including stops if you are in a hurry. If you have time, I recommend not sticking only to the main highway I 95, which runs through the entire east coast. Then, on the way, you can drop into Washington (you can see it without museums during daylight hours) or drive through Delaware and drive over the Lucius J. Kellam Jr. Bridge-Tunnel through the Chesapeake Bay 28 km long, stop by Williamsburg and visit the colonial town to plunge into the atmosphere of the XIX century or visit Rainbow Row in ... But if you are still in a hurry, then when leaving New York, we choose the direction South and scratch until we see on the sign: MIAMI.

When is the season. When is the best time to go

The climate in Miami is tropical monsoon. So that you understand what tropical means: the average temperature in January is about +19 °С (although it rises to +25 °С during the day), and +29–35 °С in summer. And the monsoon: the rainy season lasts from May to mid-October, and from mid-August to the end of September, typhoons are not uncommon here, and tornadoes periodically occur.

The best time to visit here is from November to April. At this time, of course, there are more tourists, and accommodation prices are higher (by about 30%), but there is more movement. In total, Miami is always warm (or hot), humid and often rainy, and because of the proximity of the Everglades swamps, in the west of the district, people regularly meet with alligators. But not everything is so scary.

At the same time, Miami is one of the most party, bathing, cruising and, possibly, entertainment places on the entire East Coast of the United States.

Miami Beach in season in winter

Miami in summer

At the end of spring and summer in Miami, a good time for relaxation for people like me - lovers of hot summers, swimming, contemplation and a small number of tourists.

At this time, it is hot here (temperature is about +30 ° C), sunny, although it occasionally rains and even hurricanes, and therefore there are few people, but you can observe a variety of weather.

Miami in autumn

In September - October, the rainy season is still ongoing, and at this time typhoons and hurricanes most often occur.

Miami in spring

We were in Miami in early May and were pleased with how it turned out. The weather was quite warm, but not hot - about +25 ° С, the rainy season had not yet arrived, the cloud cover was either absent or minimal, and this allowed us not to be particularly limited in walks and trips to the beach, but also to watch gorgeous sunsets and sunrises .

Another positive point is the lack of tourists. This allowed us not to plan everything in advance, but to act according to the situation: if we wanted, we didn’t bother with, but chose any motel we liked (there are plenty of free places!), If we wanted, we went to ride bicycles or on a speedboat (it’s not very hot and the ocean doesn’t storm !).

Sunrise and sunset in Miami Beach

By the way, in March, the Cuban Festival is held in the Little area, so keep this in mind if you suddenly plan your trip in the spring.

Miami in winter

Winter here, of course, is an exclusively calendar concept, the temperature rarely drops below +20 ° C, and during the day it most often reaches + 25-30 ° C, there is practically no rain.

Due to the warm current, the water in the Atlantic remains warm all year round. Therefore, both the Americans themselves and tourists try to go here from November to March.

You can try all the entertainment that was promised: swimming, surfing, boating, and walking at a comfortable temperature.

Districts. Where is the best place to live

Despite the fact that Miami itself has a little more than 430 thousand inhabitants, it is one of the four urban agglomerations, where the number of residents of the city and its environs is more than 5 million. This makes the city one of the key points in the south-east of the country from an economic point of view, and therefore it is full of offices of all kinds of international corporations and banks.

In general, there are many districts in the city, but for convenience they are grouped into northern, South, Western And central part.

  • In the Center, which is actually in the east on the very shore, there is Downtown - a business district. A little to the north is the administrative center, hospitals and research institutes.
  • In the South are historical areas such as Coconut Grove, Coral Way. Here, in addition to the cozy streets of the old buildings, there is also a party part of Miami, where you can find many nightclubs, bars, restaurants and shops.
  • The western regions are now populated mainly by immigrants from Latin American countries, not for nothing that one of the regions here is called Little.
  • The north of the city is mainly residential areas with high-rise residential buildings and mansions of the 20s and 50s of the XX century. It also hosts the Hispanic and African American neighborhoods of Little and Overtown.

Briefly about some areas:

What are the prices for holidays

Prices in Miami vary widely, so when planning your trip, first decide on your budget, then surf the Internet and you will surely find options suitable for you. Globally, everything except public transport and taxis is cheaper in the off-season, that is, from about April to October. We also saved money by eating not in restaurants, but in fairly budget cafes and cooking at home.

Also google entertainment coupons, we, for example, at Groupon saved an additional 15 USD for three people on a speedboat trip. Museums sometimes have student discounts and discounts for young people under 25, they can be symbolic (about 1 USD), but still nice, yes, and if you visit several places, it will be even more pleasant.

International Student Card

I once made an Isic card and actively used it both in Europe and in America, they believe in it more readily than in our classic paper student ID.

Main attractions. What to watch

Miami - Big city so there is something to see here. For connoisseurs of architecture, there are both historical districts and authentic churches. For romantics, there are beautiful beaches for admiring the sunrises and platforms for admiring the sunsets. For art lovers, museums relating to world, American, Jewish and Latin American (and other) heritage.

Walking streets and bike paths will help you fully enjoy the atmosphere of the city, while the beaches will relax you with the warm sun and ocean.

Top 5

Miami is a city so large and diverse that it is not so easy to single out the Top 5 places in it. Probably, every person who visits here for at least two or three days will be able to make his own rating. But still I will try to highlight the most significant places for me:

Beaches. Which is better

One of the main elements of recreation in Miami is the beach. Actually, they do not exist in the city, since the entire coast is villas with their own pier. So you will not be able to break through the endless series of Privat property signs ( private property). But still in close proximity right across Biscayne Bay is a 15 km long reef island called Miami Beach. Due to its origin, there is a chic, almost white reef sand, and the warm Gulf Stream in the Atlantic Ocean, which runs 24 km from the coastline, provides a comfortable water temperature all year round.

As I said above, Miami Beach has about 15 km of beach, and it is divided into three parts:

Churches and temples. Which are worth a visit

Oldest church in all of south Florida, unusual appearance which is complemented by magnificent interior decoration: stained-glass windows, frescoes, crucifixes.

The church is working, services are held in it every day in Spanish and / or English, the schedule can be found.

Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church is located in Miami Beach on Lenox Avenue, although the address for the navigator is 621, Alton Road. It looks rather modest, like many modern Catholic churches. However, lovers of church architecture have something to look at: the portal, stained-glass windows, and interior decoration look quite concise and at the same time attractive.

The church is active, services are held every day in English and Spanish, and also in Italian, schedule.

located just north of Downtown at 464 NE 16th Street right on the shores of Biscayne Bay.

In my opinion, there is something to see. Lutheran church, daily services, schedule available.

Museums. Which are worth a visit

Art has been given a lot of space in Miami, as this city has historically been inhabited by natives of many countries, who always brought with them a part of their culture. In addition, the largest museums of modern art are located here, forcing even the most sophisticated connoisseurs to stay for a while.

In Little Havana and Little, you can get acquainted with the art of people from the Island of Freedom and Africa by visiting and, respectively. Another of the interesting places can be noted dedicated to the events of the 60s. in the Bay of Pigs, also located in Little Havana.

parks

There are quite a few parks in Miami, most of them are very ordinary, although if you are not in the mood to sit all the time in one place and are interested in nature among other things, I advise you to visit a couple of places.

tourist streets

In the city center to experience the combination business center southeast North America and the nature of this tropical region, you must definitely walk along Brickell Avenue And Biscayne Boulevard.

In Miami Beach streets Collins, washington avenue And ocean drive- the center of hangouts, restaurants and, perhaps, the most touristic places in all of Miami.

For me, as a lover of romance, the most attractive, of course, is the Miami Beach promenade. Broadwalk stretching along the entire coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

What to see in 1 day

I propose to start our one-day trip from the Brickell metro station at 9:00, from there we move east towards the ocean and rest on Brickell Avenue.

We turn left (north) and walk through the very center of Miami - Downtown. Then we cross a small bridge over the Miami River and take a right over Biscayne Boulevard Way onto Biscayne Boulevard itself and continue north. After a couple of hundred meters, Bayfront Park is waiting for you, take a walk along it, it has its own embankment, and it is very pretty itself.

Going further north, you will see a shopping center - the Bayside Marketplace, where you can buy souvenirs, dine at any cafe of your choice, and there are many of them, and then take a boat tour on a nearby pier.

Souvenirs, food and excursions on our way

Upon returning from the tour at about 13:00, if you are tired, then take the bus (No. 3, 93, 103 or 119) to Museum Park. Again, a short walk through the park and you are already in one of the most famous contemporary art museums in Miami, and in the whole world - Pérez Art Museum.

At about 4:30 pm, after a few hours at the museum, you will surely get hungry and want to finally visit the famous beaches of Miami. We again go to the stop where you got off at the museum and catch bus number 119, which rushes you across the bay along the long MacArthur Causeway bridge directly to the south of Miami Beach.

Next, your choice: Collins Avenue, Washington Avenue or Ocean Drive right away. There are a lot of various catering establishments, we have dinner and go to the beach! Next, I propose to take a walk along the embankment, and then settle down somewhere with live music and complete your evening with this. Bus number 103 or number 119 will help you return to Brickell Station (you need to get to the Stephen P Clark Center stop) and transfer to Government Center Metromover Station.

What to see in the surroundings

The surroundings of Miami may be of interest to lovers of nature, thrills and just those who do not see their vacation in lying on the beach. So, not far from the city are the Everglades swamps with the national park of the same name and the Big Cypress National Wildlife Refuge, where you can go hiking or canoeing and get acquainted with the local flora and fauna, or even spend the night in a tent under a very starry tropical sky!

A sweet addition to Miami is the Florida Keys with its coral reefs, fishing, beaches and pirate forts.

nearby islands

Of the interesting islands in the immediate vicinity of the city (of course, not counting Miami Beach), it is worth mentioning Key Biscayne And Virginia Key. Biscayne Island has only a small residential area and a lot of entertainment: attractions, parks, yacht and golf clubs, palm trees, beaches and an old lighthouse. Virginia is home to the famous Marine Aquarium.

But, again, if you have the time, energy and desire, go South and visit the Florida Keys archipelago. I think a whole article should be dedicated to him.

And here is what awaits you on the farthest inhabited island except ki lime pie (traditional Florida pie), magnificent beaches, reefs, authentic architecture, live music, cuisine from around the world and Cuba 150 kilometers away:

Food. What to try

In Miami, as in the States in general, there are a lot of people from all over the world. That is why here you can find the cuisine of all nations of the world and at any level from fast food eateries and street wagons to elite restaurants where they go Hollywood stars.

There are several cafes and restaurants in the city.

Of course, one of these clusters is South Miami Beach. Collins Avenue, Lincoln Road and Washngton Avenue abound with a variety of restaurants High Quality and prices, so a dinner for one can easily cost you 40–50 USD.

In Miami itself, in Downtown along Brickell Avenue and neighboring streets, there are many cafes, bars and restaurants. Also interesting places in terms of gastronomy and not only - Coconut Grove and Miracle Mile. In addition to shopping centers and art galleries, there you can also eat deliciously, while choosing both expensive and budget options.

In my opinion, in Miami, as well as in any other coastal area, you need to eat fish and seafood prepared by chefs from countries that traditionally respect seafood, such as the Mexicans and the Japanese. At the same time, fish with seafood, and Mexicans and Japanese are a dime a dozen here!

Probably my favorite American crab

Catering in the USA is known to be very well developed, and I often got the impression that it is cheaper and easier to eat in restaurants and cafes than to search, buy and cook for yourself. And in Miami itself, we did just that: we went to everything ready and never lost. The level of cuisine, even in budget places, was quite high.

However, next door to Miami, in the town of Hollywood, I still insisted on buying groceries and preparing dinner in our small motel kitchen. Finding seafood was easy. There are quite a lot of points with fish, crabs and shellfish. Our choice fell on the rock crab, which is popular here. A pound of this joy, depending on the size, will cost from 10 to 20 USD. But finding fresh vegetables turned out to be a more difficult task ... The market, which we passed through in the morning, was closed by the police in the evening because of its illegality, and in a small shop on a tourist street, a head of Iceberg lettuce cost 9 bucks, a pound of tomatoes about the same, and cucumbers we didn't find it at all.

So, the question of self-catering remained unsolved for me. And the crab, boiled in ocean water on the tiles in the motel, is still sitting in my head and demands the continuation of the banquet.

Oddly enough, despite the fact that we visited several restaurants in Miami, it was difficult to recall their names, only good impressions and an approximate location remained. And only after reviewing the photos with dishes on Google, we realized that yes, here it is that Chili's Mexican restaurant in the Bayside Marketplace. Worth a look!

Holidays

Miami is famous for its annual major events: exhibitions, festivals and parades. Everyone will find something according to their interests.

Security. What to watch out for

Miami is a multinational city, there are many migrants here, both legal and not very, and locals who do not mind profiting from the property of honest tourists. Therefore, in ethnic areas with a predominance of Hispanics and African Americans, be careful and careful, if possible, travel by car (rented or taxi) at night, and during the day local population do not approach, even if the person appears to be friendly.

In cars in parking lots (even in a crowded place), do not leave anything in sight and be sure to close the doors and windows. During the trip, we lived in a motel next door to Little, and the administrator immediately warned that it was not worth moving around the area alone.

On crowded beaches, about every 200 meters, there are rescue towers on which muscular guys are on duty, similar to the Malibu rescuers, only not in California, but in Florida. By the way, it is forbidden to climb the towers even at night, when, it would seem, they do not work, and no one needs them. Patrol police officers carefully monitor that order is observed on the beach at any time of the day.

Things to do

Not just because Miami is famous as one of the most popular resorts in the United States, and probably throughout the world. There really is a lot to do here. Although, if your favorite holiday is to do nothing - come anyway! As we have already discussed, it is full of beaches, bars and restaurants, and you can enjoy the bright sun, warm ocean, cuisine and drinks from around the world.

If you can't sit still, hop on a bike, ride to the beach, stand on your board and catch a wave on your own or with experienced surfers at school. In the evening, take a speedboat tour of the villas of local celebrities and enjoy the speed and splash of the waves! Then go to the Everglades or Bigsipers, go hiking, spend the night in the open air next to the alligators and mosquitoes, canoe through the swamps or mangroves.

Take a car and go to Kees, there are a million different ways to see the underwater life: snorkeling, diving, kayaks with boats and glass-bottomed boats. And in general, go to the Siquarium, play golf! Once you start to relax actively, and you will never want to just decompose on the beach for more than one day!

Shopping and shops

In Miami, lovers of this business will have something to do. In Miami Beach on Lincoln Road and Washington Avenue, there is a huge number of all kinds of stores of famous and not very brands. On Washington Avenue, there is a smaller selection, and prices are less biting, so I advise those who like to save money to come here.

On the mainland, perhaps two notable places for shopaholics:

  • Northeast 40th Street on the south of Little,
  • Miracle Mile in Coral Gables.

In the first, in addition to a variety of clothing stores, you can see the work of local artists in several art galleries. And in the "Mile of Miracles" you can choose a restaurant or cafe to your taste.

In addition, the city has a large number of shopping centers such as Bayside Marketplace, Miami International Mall, Dolphin Mall, Coco Walk, Dadeland Mall and others.

Bars. Where to go

There are a lot of bars here. They are familiar to us with classic cocktails, there are Latin American and English pubs, Czech pubs and everything you can imagine.

Many venues have sports broadcasts, and Americans enjoy going to them to drink beer and watch football, baseball or racing. Also, musicians often play live music in bars, making noise throughout the street and entertaining not only visitors, but also passers-by.

The opening hours of bars vary, some open from 8:00, some from 18:00, and usually close between 00:00 and 3:00.

Pricing policy depends on the location and popularity of places. Of course, you should not expect cheap booze somewhere in the Purdy Lounge in the south of Miami Beach.

Top 5 bars according to Tripadvisor:

  1. MO Bar + Lounge,
  2. Lilt Lounge,
  3. Vino's in the Grove,
  4. Coconut Tiki Bar,
  5. Duffy's Tavern.

Clubs and nightlife

Nightlife in Miami Beach is for every taste. Parties sometimes last for whole days, and many clubs work seven days a week.

  • Nikki Beach. The club is interesting because it is located right on the beach, and many visitors come immediately in bathing suits. The beach party takes place on Sundays from 21:30 to 3:00.
  • Liv. Nearly elite club where you can often meet American celebrities. In addition, well-known artists perform here, for example, 50 cent, Jay-Z, etc. The club is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 23:00 to 5:00, admission is strictly from 21 years old and respecting the dress code.

There are also clubs for people with a non-traditional orientation, for example, the famous Twist.

Remember that there is always face control at the entrances, so you should dress appropriately. In addition, entry to many establishments is paid and can cost up to 100 USD.

extreme sports

Every kind of surf you've heard of can be found on the beaches near Miami.

In addition, from water activities you can try water skiing, tubing, wakesurfing, yachting, scootering and probably something else. The local naked has invented so many things that you can get lost in various options.

On the earth's surface, in addition to the usual walking bike, you can try BMX, mountain biking, skateboarding, rollerblading - there are plenty of places to ride!

Not far from Miami, you can experience the atmosphere of a safari in the Lion Country Safari. The trip will cost about 30 USD, but you will see lions, giraffes and other African animals on the North American continent!

Safari 70 km from Miami

From not the most common and perhaps for someone extreme, I will also note fishing in the ocean. Participation in such an event costs about 250 USD per person.

You can also rent a boat with your company, it will cost 750–1000 USD per group. Information and specific offers can be found at any pier.

Souvenirs. What to bring as a gift

Be sure to visit for souvenirs Oficial art deco gift shop, very authentic things: retro posters about life in Miami. Also look into some art gallery, of which there are a lot, here you can buy a picture, a figurine or a magnet with a work of art.

In Little Havana, you can buy anything related to Cuba, including cigars that are handmade by Cuban artisans right in Miami.

How to move around the city

In my opinion, it is better to move around Miami either on foot or by public transport, which is quite well developed here. Why is that? Yes, because there are a lot of cars here, and all parking lots are not only paid, but also always busy.

In addition to standard taxis, buses, metro and car rentals, the so-called Metromoover and bike rentals work well here. The fare, of course, varies: by public transport, the trip will cost about 2.25 USD, by taxi at least five bucks.

Another pleasant way is tourist buses, which have many stops, you can ride as much as you like, depending on the ticket for one or two days.

Taxi. What features exist

Taxi in Miami without significant features. All officially registered cars must have inscriptions: Taxi, cab or taxicab on both sides and a telephone transport company. Payment is made at a rate of 2.5 USD for landing and 1/6 of a mile and 0.40 USD for each subsequent 1/6 mile or minute of waiting.

Taxis can be hailed either by waving your hand in a permitted place, or at parking lots, or called by phone. Rooms can be easily googled or taken from the hotel. A trip from the airport to the seaport will cost you about 25 USD.

Transport rental

Automobile

To have complete freedom of movement, it is always convenient to rent a car. We did it back in New York, so we went all over the East Coast. But if you're flying into Florida, you can pick up a car from here, there's no problem. In Miami itself and its airports, there are a lot of different rental companies such as Dollar, Alamo, National, and Avis. You can compare prices from different distributors, for example.

The price will be approximately from 40 USD per day of rental (plus about 80 cents per liter for gasoline).

The list of documents is usual: a passport, an international driving license and a driving experience of more than 1 year. I did not like the presence of a car in Miami - it is very difficult for her to find parking (besides, it is paid), and all distances can be overcome using public transport or a bicycle.

Bike

Another very attractive opportunity for me is bike rental. Miami is practically a flat city, and even for inexperienced cyclists, movement will be easy, and local authorities have taken care of an extensive network of bike paths.

You can rent a bike either at large rentals, for example, Bike and Roll or Deco Bike for 4 USD per hour, and up to 30 USD per day. When planning trips, do not be lazy, visit the sites, there are detailed tariffs, there are promotions and discounts. There are also small rental offices that you can meet on the streets.

Moving around the city in your (rented) car is fraught with a long search for expensive parking (cost about 2 USD per hour) and a senseless waste of your vacation time, so choose motels with parking, as we did, change to a bike or public transport and enjoy!

It's not just that Miami is one of the largest and most popular cities for tourists in. People want to live and relax here, and, in my opinion, it is worth doing it not through the glass of a car.

Miami holidays with children

Of the entertainment traditionally popular with children, the Zoo and the Marine Aquarium should be noted, in addition, on the beaches you can sign up for a surf school or simply hire an instructor for classes, in many places you can rent a kayak or take a tour on a boat, boat or yacht.

Of course, it will be great to take the kids to the Everglades with swamps and alligators and see the coral reefs on the Florida Keys, snorkeling or in a kayak or glass-bottom boat. By the way, there are significant discounts for children almost everywhere.

When planning a trip, you need to decide on the best time to travel, as holidays in Miami differ depending on the season, and the ideal time depends solely on the preferences of travelers.

Weather

locals There are two seasons in Miami: good and scorching. The scorching season covers the months from May to September. Summers are very humid, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius in daytime. Summer nights not much cooler, but at least the lack of hot sun is slightly refreshing. Summer is also the rainy season in the resort, so the change of weather during the day can be unpleasant: a hot day often ends with a huge downpour or even a thunderstorm. The hurricane season runs from June to November, so it's a good idea to consider purchasing travel insurance before traveling during this time.

The advantage of visiting Miami in the summer is more low prices. Summer is not a very favorable period for hotels, so they try their best to attract tourists by offering a variety of promotions and discounts.

The high season in Miami starts at the time when most of country is covered with snow. At this time, the level of humidity drops in the region, and more pleasant climatic conditions occur. The transitions between seasons take place at the end of October and at the beginning of April. Temperatures range from 25 to 28 degrees Celsius and you may need a light sweater in the evening or early morning.

Given the large flow of tourists and holidays, in winter, hotel prices rise significantly, and restaurants and various shows are full almost all the time.

Your interests

But if you want to attend a variety of Miami events, then you should know their schedule:

  • In October, the art season begins in Miami, the famous Miami Ballet, the Symphony of the New World and performances on local Broadway return from tour, and continue into November.
  • At this time, the Miami International Book Fair takes place.
  • In December, the most famous exhibition of paintings in the United States, Basel Art, takes place, where you can see modern works sculptors and artists around the world.
  • The Miami International Boat Show is the largest annual event in the entire state of Florida, taking place in February, and typically showcasing over 3,000 boats from around the world.
  • In March, the Ultra Music Festival takes place - a paradise for lovers of modern electronic music, where the world's best DJs flock to play their exclusive works.

If you want to enjoy how beach holiday, and interesting events, it is best to plan a trip for early April or late October - you will be met by pleasant weather and mass interesting exhibitions and events.

Miami is a beach paradise. How to enjoy the rest and not turn your vacation into a rotten one? To do this, you must not make 5 mistakes, from which I want to warn you.

All the iconic resort hangouts are concentrated on Ocean Drive Street: music thunders all day long, and at night, unrestrained fun begins.

Don't stop at Ocean Drive unless you're a big fan of nightlife. You will not be allowed to sleep peacefully. Fun with music continues from evening until morning.

However, not all of South Beach is the same: there are many calm, cozy, atmospheric places. Instead of lying aimlessly on the beach, walk the elegant streets lined with colorful Art Deco facades, ride a rented Decobike bike, or sample the art of local culinary arts at one of the many gastronomic establishments.

The most charming street in the area is Espanola Way with palm-pine alleys, buildings in the European colonial style, art galleries, Mediterranean restaurants. Espanola Way was built in 1925. Walk down the pedestrian Lincoln Road. At the beginning of the street, an old temple has been preserved, two-story shops stretch on both sides, and a botanical garden is located nearby.

north beach

The relaxed, indulgent atmosphere of South Beach ends at 25th Street. Next comes North Beach - an area with a pronounced Italian flavor. There are few shops, clubs, street cafes: at the beginning of North Beach there are none at all, you will find the first modest restaurants only starting from 60th street.

There are traditionally few tourists in North Beach: the local population mostly lives here.

The houses are relatively poor: there are several luxurious hotels, but they are well separated from the city streets. There are cheap hotels - these establishments are located in the area of 74-75 streets, they belong to one owner. I categorically do not recommend settling there: dirty, uncomfortable, no service.

Bal harbor

Bal Harbor is an elite area of Miami Beach. This picturesque place is the realm of fitness, cycling, azure pools, tanned trained bodies. Here is the luxurious mall The Bal Harbor Shops - a shopping center, the focus of exclusive boutiques and world famous brands. Fashionable gastronomic establishments of Bal Harbor in the evenings gather nouveaux riches from the Russian diaspora of Miami Beach. For an ordinary tourist, this atmosphere will be too pompous, far from “democratic”. In short, expensive and pretentious.

Sunny Isles Beach

Sunny Isles Beach is called "the city of sun and sea", "little Moscow". This is a luxurious residential area, where the facades of glittering skyscrapers look at the raging ocean waves.

Star apartments were bought here Russian show business: Igor Nikolaev, Natasha Koroleva, Valery Leontiev, Anna Kournikova, hockey players Pavel Bure, Sergei Fedorov.

You won't find any simple stores or Starbucks here. For any little thing you have to go by car. The beach is always crowded in high season. Hotel rooms are cheaper than in the "expensive" South Beach, but a simple tourist should not choose Sunny Isles for living. The place is too pretentious, obviously not touristy.

2. Better not stay in local hotels: the atmosphere will not please you

An expensive hotel will have a swimming pool and massages, live music, food on order at any time. Tourists with a modest budget, American hotels do not offer decent service. It is better to immediately rent a studio closer to the beach, rent an apartment or a room.

Accommodation options for different budgets can be found.
