Story

Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University (formerly the All-Union Agricultural Institute correspondence education) was founded in 1930.

It was located on the territory of the Moscow Agricultural Academy and used its training base.

Already on early stages agrarian correspondence education has shown its main advantages - on-the-job training, a combination of training with practice.

A great contribution to the development of the university was made by Ivan Mikhailovich Medvedev, who led it in 1939-1954.

An important event in the development of the university, which determined all its further activities, was the receipt at the end of 1954 of an independent educational base in the city of Balashikha.

In 1955, 20 departments were already working at the institute. By this time, the institute served as the Educational and Methodological Center of the system of higher agricultural education.

In 1956, full-time and part-time postgraduate studies were opened, and since 1961, the Institute was allowed to accept Ph.D. dissertations in agricultural, technical, and economic sciences for defense.

In 1995, in accordance with the order of the Government Russian Federation VSKHIZO was renamed into the Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University (RGAZU).

In 2001, the university was given the status of a federal state educational institution of higher professional education.

In 2011, the university was renamed by order of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation dated May 23, 2011 No. 132 "On the renaming of the Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education and their branches" into the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher professional education "Russian State Agrarian Correspondence University".

University today

The university has a serious material and technical base. It is located on an area of ​​56 hectares - in the central part of the Balashikha urban district. The unique difference of the university - picturesque park with the estate "Pekhra-Yakovlevskoye", which are an architectural monument of federal significance.

On the territory occupied by RGASU, there are 14 educational buildings, 3 student dormitories, a sports hall, a hotel, a library, a reading room, a canteen, a printing house.

A special place in the activities of the university occupies scientific Library, which contains unique funds - more than a million copies, including those containing the results of modern scientific research. The university has its own publishing center and printing base to provide all the necessary for its staff and students.
