About the university

The Ural Institute of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia is one of the oldest educational institutions in the field of protection of the population and territories, counting its history from 1929.

The Ural State Fire Service Institute is the only educational institution of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia located in the Asian part of the country; on its basis, a regional-branch educational center is being organized for advanced training and retraining of the leadership of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, managers and specialists in the field of fire safety of the Volga-Ural, Siberian and Far Eastern regional centers.

On the territory of the institute there are buildings of the training fire station, dormitory buildings, a sports arena, an open training tower, a medical unit with an insulator, a heat and smoke chamber and other life support facilities of the institute.

At a distance of 30 km there is a country training and sports center, and in the village of Koltsovo there is the second training ground of the institute, where all conditions for training and living of cadets are created.

The institute has 11 lecture and 36 classrooms, 38 special rooms, 5 laboratories, a shooting range for 5 directions, a club for 650 seats, 4 sports facilities.

The Institute annually takes part in regional specialized exhibitions dedicated to the problems of ensuring fire safety, where the exposition of the Institute has been repeatedly awarded.

In order to conduct scientific research, the institute takes part in solving the tasks defined by the plan of research and development work of the ministry and maintains scientific and technical relations with the Center for Strategic Studies of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

Many employees of the institute are highly qualified specialists who have government awards for courage and heroism shown in the performance of their duty. The staff of the institute is proud of its graduates, who received high ranks for the performance of their official duty.

Retired Major General Telyatnikov Leonid Petrovich was awarded the title of Hero for the liquidation of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant Soviet Union. Lieutenant Colonel Zamaraev Valery Valentinovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously) for the courage and heroism shown during the release of the hostages in Beslan.

One of the priority areas educational work with cadets and employees of the institute is moral and aesthetic education, the purpose of which is the formation of a comprehensively developed personality of an employee of the State Fire Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, moral qualities, such as responsibility, pride in belonging to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, military prowess.

Every year, rituals are held for taking the Oath, placing the guards of the training fire department in the combat crew of the Yekaterinburg fire brigade garrison, and graduating young lieutenants, which take place in a solemn atmosphere in the presence of the leadership of the Ministry, parents and friends of the cadets.

The institute actively uses the spiritual and moral potential of public formations of service and combat training units, aimed at encouraging cadets to moral self-improvement, striving for a positive moral ideal.

Children enter the walls of an educational institution from large and small cities, towns, and one thing unites them all - the desire to study here and master a noble profession. Employees and members of the admissions committee study applicants comprehensively, after successfully passing the entrance exams, applicants become cadets, because in addition to studying, their whole life will be completely independent, they will now do everything themselves. Those who can draw will publish wall newspapers and combat leaflets, arrange service and combat training units, auditoriums, leisure rooms, athletes - dischargers - defend the honor of the institute at competitions, and amateur art participants will reveal their talent at concerts and shows, thus, public formations are created at the institute, which are the main support in the education of personnel.

In an educational institution, there are the following forms of this work:
- Excursions of first-year students to the museum of the institute.
- meetings of cadets with veterans of the fire department and the institute, dedicated to memorable dates in Russia;
- participation in various kinds of competitions of amateur performances, festivals, concerts, games of KVN teams.
- group visits to cultural and leisure centers with assigned teachers (the District House of Officers, the circus, the Theater musical comedy, the Drama Theatre, the Museum of Local Lore, the Museum of the Airborne Forces, the museums "Stones of the Urals", "Nevyansk Icon").

It has become a good tradition at the institute to hold such events as poetry evenings dedicated to Victory Day and Mother's Day, where works of their own composition and poets of the war years are performed.

All departments subscribe to periodicals. Each division has editorial boards for wall printing. Wall, satirical and photo newspapers are published monthly. In addition, combat leaflets are issued weekly by each training group.

Every year, the Institute holds competitions of amateur artistic creativity, wall printing units of service and combat training, games of KVN teams.

The club of the institute hosts concerts of various creative teams and guests of the institute, concerts of amateur performances.

On the basis of the institute, various creative teams have been created and are carrying out work on moral and aesthetic education.

The choir, created from among the cadets under the leadership of the Honored Artist of Russia Yu.I. Smagin, the team repeatedly spoke to the staff of the institute, veterans and guests of the educational institution.
