Volunteer Training Center “Forward” of Sochi State University

Becoming one of the winners of the contest and signing an agreement with ANO Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee, Sochi State University received the honorary right to select and train volunteers to participate in the XXII Olympic winter games and XI Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi.

On the day when Russia celebrated the date of 1000 days before the start of the Games in Sochi, the Forward Volunteer Training Center was opened at SSU. The Center specializes in the training of Olympic volunteers in four functional areas: "Event Service", "Ceremonies", "Olympic Village Management", "Accommodation".

At the selection stage, the SSU Volunteer Center conducted a number of evaluation activities: online testing to determine business qualities and knowledge level in English, face-to-face and skype interviews for candidates from other cities. Having entered a new stage of the volunteer program, SSU Forward Center conducts training for volunteers.

Every season, SSU volunteers take part in organizing test competitions at the sports facilities of the Olympic Park and in the mountain cluster complexes. Every year, university volunteers help the organizers of major sporting events: Our students worked at the first Youth Games in Innsbruck (Austria), were part of the golden hundred of Russian volunteers at the Games in London. In the summer of 2013, the SSU delegation successfully worked at the World Student Games in Kazan and the World athletics in Moscow.

In parallel with sports volunteering, SSU students participate in environmental, social, and educational volunteering. They conduct Olympic and Paralympic lessons in the city's schools, and several times a semester they unite into teams of eco-volunteers. Repeatedly, student volunteers made presentations about their activities at all-Russian and international conferences.

SSU Forward Center takes part in the creation of the first complete database of facilities with elements of a barrier-free environment in the history of the country. The countdown of 500 days to the Paralympic Games in Sochi began with the launch of the "Accessibility Map" - a joint web project of the Disabled Support Fund " United country and the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. This innovative resource is one of the key ones in the Program for raising the level of awareness of the population of the Russian Federation about the Paralympic Games.

Volunteers from SSU explore the districts of Sochi and contribute information to the Accessibility Maps website, which is designed to help people with disabilities find accessible urban infrastructure and places where they can practice Paralympic sports. Today, more than a thousand objects of our city are marked on the map - with detailed description and photographic evidence of the presence of elements of a barrier-free environment.

SSU Volunteer Club "Creation" began its work in November 2009. The volunteer movement of the Sochi State University of Tourism and Resort Business (SGU) unites students, graduate students and teachers on the basis of common interests, active participation in social and pedagogical activities and the implementation of socially significant projects. The chairman of the club is Grigorashchenko-Alieva Nadezhda Mansumovna.

One of the principles of volunteering is voluntariness. Volunteer - a person engaged on a gratuitous basis (without any coercion) in activities to resolve social significant issues. basic principles Volunteering in SSU are also equal rights, self-government and legality. Consequently, such activity contributes to the actualization and development of personal, socially significant qualities of the subjects of this activity: it develops a socially active life position in a person, increases the level of education, morality, improves physical health personality (thanks to propaganda healthy lifestyle life - one of the areas of work of the SSU volunteer movement), encourages a person to safe behavior in society.

Many programs are being implemented in the preparation of volunteers. For example, the dramatic technology symbol developed by our university, recognized at the interregional level in the city of Stavropol. Special training programs for volunteers are also used.

Volunteering at SSU is an activity aimed at expanding opportunities for personal and professional growth, it is an acquaintance with like-minded people from different regions countries, a step in development that determines future opportunities; this is, in fact, the initial link in career growth.

Volunteering is a platform where a student, a young specialist can “try himself”, declare himself, show and develop the managerial skills necessary for a modern professional:

Teamwork skills,

Build communication at various levels

Apply a holistic, systematic approach.

A unique space for young people - a club of volunteers, which opens up promising areas for personal and professional growth - contributes to the development of integral thinking. A space of unlimited topics, resources, a space of abundance of opportunities and self-realization.

The Volunteer Club of SSU "Creation" is set by the following goals:

*promotion of activities in the field of science, culture, art and education, enlightenment and spiritual development of the individual;

*creation of conditions for the comprehensive and most complete development and realization of the creative and scientific potential of university students;

* orientation of students to work in various specialized agencies as well as information about various educational programs ah (grants) held in Russia and abroad.

The SSU volunteer movement implements programs aimed at positively using the enthusiasm and initiative of the active part of the youth in strengthening the cultural and scientific potential of the University. Let's go to the dictionary foreign words and we will see: an enthusiast is a person who is ardently devoted to a cause, working with enthusiasm (gr. enthusiasmos "divine inspiration") - strong inspiration, spiritual uplift, passion.
